Why would Pewdiepie call a far corner of the internet known by the title “Cursed Comments” "the very worst subreddit” out there, I wonder? Surely there should be many more reckless and vicious subreddits that refuse to abide by the rules of common sense.
Well, seemingly innocent at first glance, the subreddit Cursed Comments owns its name 100 percent. Why? Because, as the community’s description says, it serves a collection of “comments that strike the reader into oblivion, while leaving you speechless at the same time.”
Sometimes, it’s the blatant gruesomeness, other times it’s pure incomprehension, sometimes it’s sheer absurdity, other cases it’s all ensued hilarity. After all, it’s a reflection of all the communication happening out in the virtual wild west. Nothing is sacred, everything is kinda meme-like.
So we picked out some of the most ‘srsly?’ and ‘im outta here’ comments as shared by a whopping 2.5 million cursed members in the group. In the end, we are all more or less cursed, it’s just that the cursed ones already know it.
Psst! More cursed comments await in our previous post right here.

To find out more about the community behind the widely popular Cursed Comments subreddit, Bored Panda reached out to its moderator u/Blank-Cheque, who was happy to share some insights with us.
The moderator told us that the subreddit was originally created by redditor /u/winwinwe, “who is no longer a part of the sub.” Turns out, “he was ousted by the Reddit admins for his behavior as owner of the subreddit,” explained u/Blank-Cheque.
Cursed Comments was launched in 2018, which doesn’t make it a veteran among other subreddits. However, the subreddit’s success online is indisputable since it’s home to 2.5 million members.

When asked whether the community is active or not, the moderator assured that it’s “pretty active.” And this may be a humble underestimation. u/Blank-Cheque further explained that their bot that comments on every post, /u/cursedrobot, is frequently one of the most active accounts on the site.
Furthermore, “We get millions of views—1.4 million in the last 24 hours, at time of writing,” which makes it a powerhouse in its own right.

Load More Replies...Same with my wife. Breaks out in an itchy rash if she eats meat. Nice to have a vegan in the house who says about cooking meat "That smells SO GOOD! Wish I could eat that."
Lol. The question is how did the vegans do it without doing anything to the tick? They don't even eat honey.
I just wanted to post this, Me: Wanna hangout @ my house l8r? Friend: cant srry home arrest for double homicide Me: *thinks wHaT* and says My parents arent home! Friend: about ur parents....
Lone Star ticks range from the Southeast through the Eastern United States and bites from the arachnids are known to cause a rare allergy to galactose-α-1,3-galactose (α-gal), a type of sugar found in beef, pork, lamb, and other red meats. One more reason for me to hate ticks... I don't want to be vegan...
I think it was invented by the annoying vegan TikTok lady...I am not suprised
Does this mean we can blame vegans for causing the pandemic? (To try to turn us from eating animals?). /s

I don't know the full name, but it is called " alpha gal" it is caused by the lone star tick. I have 2 friends that have this. Ones reaction is trouble breathing, and it takes very little to set it off. Eating at a restaurant and ordering chicken, can set it off if the chicken is cooked on the same grill as beef or pork. The other gets a persistant rash. It is only mammalian flesh that sets it off. Poultry and seafood do not. It Can get worse and be set off by dairy as well.
When asked what exactly the term cursed comment means, the moderator said that the mod team has “put a lot of thought into answering this question over the years.”
He further explained, “As it says on our rules page, the official definition is 'A cursed comment is any comment that strikes the reader into oblivion. Upon seeing a cursed comment, your first reaction should be among the lines of "What the eff did I just read??” while leaving you speechless at the same time. Incomprehension of the comment just read, or the blatant gruesomeness of it should be enough to not only make you feel mystified but also to draw a smile on your face.'”

A really good cursed comment is something that comes naturally, explained the moderator. And the community is very strict about it in their policy. “In fact, we do not allow 'staged' comments. There is no method,” u/Blank-Cheque explained.

Turns out the famous YouTube vlogger Pewdiepie has been talking about the Cursed Comments subreddit and referring to it as somewhat of the worst thing on Reddit.
The moderator assured us that it’s true: “Pewdiepie has talked about /r/cursedcomments several times on his YouTube channel. I haven't seen the videos personally, but he must've liked it if he made multiple videos on it.”

In a previous interview with Bored Panda, another moderator told us about the challenges that the community has faced recently. Turned out, after a run-in with a top Reddit moderator, the community faces a possible “quarantine” or shutdown.
This was because of a lot of jokes on the subreddit of a very sensitive nature, but things changed for the better. "That was incredibly hectic and really kicked moderation into high gear, with rules becoming much more strict. At this point in time, the moderation strictness still applies, although with a subreddit of that size, it’s still hard to fully moderate, and I personally think post submission quality has taken a hit because of it, no fault to the moderation team."

The Cursed Comments subreddit is all about humor through shock value. Or, as their moderators explain on the subreddit, they want to make you smile and mystify you with how incomprehensible and blatantly gruesome some of these comments found from the corners of the internet are.
