There's a bit more story to this one actually. The numbers were off the charts because the logistics people had to assume something would go wrong, and she might have been stuck in orbit for way longer. Basically same thing with food. If they send someone up for a week, they pack a month's ration.

This one hits home with me. I spent three years dodging a stalker who thought that my being nice to him when he was a potential customer meant I was in love with him. I was a real estate agent booking summer condo rentals in a beach resort. People would come in during the off season to preview units they were considering renting, which is what he was doing that day. He knew where I worked, and that I worked weekends (the busiest days in a resort). The first year he stalked me I was still working at the same agency. When I decided to switch to real estate accounting with a different agency, I thought it would be over. But one of my former—-male—-coworkers didn’t think it was a big deal to tell him where I was now working (and, believe me, I ripped him a huge new one for it!), so I ended up with two more years of dodging him. Luckily, the people at my new job understood how serious stalking is, and shielded me when he showed up. He didn’t stop until he found out I got married.

I've been cursing rom coms and soap operas for a long time for this type of thinking. Then I realized the problem it's the stupid people that think they need to mimic them and I start cursing them instead.

So much for men being able to tell fantasy from reality. What do they make of horror and porn one wonders.
