Getting lost in thought can lead to some bizarre revelations, or, on the contrary, just confuse you even more. Those kinds of thoughts especially like to come at night when you are trying to get to sleep or in the shower when your mind is more relaxed. If you really think about simple things long enough, you will start to realize how weird they actually are.

Having pets. I have two dogs that I love to death but when I really think about it, I realize they’re just two random animals that I saw one day and said “yeah I like that one” and put them in my home against their will and I give them food regularly and smother them with more affection than I give to other people. And those two random animals seem to think that’s totally dope and show signs of liking me back.

Reading. Like, there are these random squiggles and we can instantly interpret them into complex thoughts, concepts, feelings, emotions - from people we’ve never met or sometimes even heard of before. It’s weird.
The fact that all those other people you see out in public all have their own lives that they go home to completely separate from yours.

Women create whole humans. We actually carry human beings inside us. That is just fascinating and so mind-blowing to me.

Well, speaking from an atheistic perspective, here's a counter-argument. Suppose atheism might be true (e.g. most of china is atheist), so there's a good number of people who think it is probably true. (Also most of the academy of sciences). If that's true, then there are no souls, gods, demons, ghosts, etc. Everything is physical. That means that the creation of a child is a creation of a being which will develop a mind and have experiences. Thus, if you think that (a) humans have the greatest moral value on earth and that (as I do), that most of life is a good experience (b), then, it follows, that the most moral and best act is to create more people who can have good experiences and do good, thus raising the overall goodness quantity on earth. (c) we can add exclusions e.g. on sustainability re environmentalism. But that's not a religious claim, it's a claim to limit the number of humans created.
That's interesting, but also made me think of this from a reincarnation POV. Would it depend on the soul if being born again was a gift or not? Would an old soul have a choice if it was tired and wanted a break, could you technically take a break, like would it be like going to sleep and wake up immediately as a baby in the womb... Damn this children's entry is really causing some wierd thoughts.

The most illogical thing to do--you have no idea what you're getting, no returns, no exchanges, and for life.
I completely understand people wanting to have children but I am continuously flummoxed by any woman who decides to have a second child. After months of agony followed by the worst pain you'll ever experience, you get to spend months to years suffering through depression, sleep deprivation, and horrible odors from an organism that worse than a goldfish at communicating what it needs. The kid finally gets to the point where it can express itself and share your love and women decide to go through the misery again. From someone who could never do that, its like watching a refugee flee through a minefield and crippling them, nearly starving to death before they reach safety, meet their best friend in a refugee camp, get their leg fixed and a happy home then decide to volunteer to walk through minefields blindfolded. I understand willing to walk through the minefield the first time to find happiness but why do you go back?
I've worked as a nanny/babysitter for several years, and I can say without a doubt that it's easier to keep two kids happy than one. Two kids of a similar age can keep each other entertained for the most part. On the other hand, if you only have one child, then that child depends on you for any social stimulation/entertainment. Obviously, one vs two kids is very different from a financial perspective, and when taking into consideration how miserable birth/pregnancy must be, why not just foster/adopt?

I would like to think it's a miracle. First there was sort of nothing and all of a sudden there's a little, pretty thing cuddling up to me and making me laugh.

Moreover, not just creating the physical person, but everything you teach them, everything you model, the choices you make that will effect them will contribute to the person they are and will become. I created two humans with my body (and a contribution from their father), and we are shaping the person they will become with every moment we spend with them as their parents. It's a crazy huge responsibility. AND THEN, accepting the parts of them that come to be outside of your influence, through friends, education etc. It's all quite a ride.
I've actually thought about this a fair number of times. Like, why was my soul chosen to come into this world and gain sentience?
Snatch an innocent soul out of the void? So you don't believe in any divine part in this, yet you believe in the pre-existence of their soul apart from any matter? You really think YOU personally snatch a soul out of a void?
And if there were pre-existent souls, how would we know they were 'snatched out of the void'? Perhaps we were lining up, clamoring for our turn at a mortal life.

Speaking on purely what I've been taught by the Catholic Church, souls are created by God to fuse with the body that's created by the parents. And no, I don't want a religious debate, please.

As someone from an Asian cultural background, how American kids can get financially cut off from their families at 18. Like, they’re still a family and on good terms, but my friends have said stuff like “my mom owes me 300$”, or that they’re taking out student loans though their parents are financially able to support them through college. But, their parent’s money isn’t their money anymore so they have to take on debt. It’s so strange to me, as the expectation in (most) Asian households are that parents support you financially when you’re young and then you support them financially when they’re old, and there’s no clear demarcation of my money your money.
I like this idea my kids are still young but I'd always give them help financially if they needed it and I have it I would give it to them it's not even a thought to do otherwise and my family have always looked after the older members it's just how I think it should be
Languages, or just talking in general. The fact that we’ve given meaning to a bunch of random sounds made by our vocal chords is bizarre when you think about it. Like, how did this even start? How were we able to decide what should be called what? For example, how did we decide that a rock is called a rock or that the sky is called the sky?
If you're really interested, read up on etymology. It's fascinating. (And things aren't as random as they seem.)
The fact that a majority of people think in images. Like, think of an apple and see, in the mind, a picture of an apple. So weird to me, I’ve never “seen” anything up there.

I can remember when international long distance was prohibitively expensive. Now I can set up an internet call for free and talk for hours. It made me realize I don't like talking to people on the phone that much.
As a dog owner and cat owner I sometimes look at them and think, "there is literally an animal living in my house whose ancestors ran free and hunted other animals and it is just laying upside down all cute on its bed beside me and also can't eat unless I give it food". So I guess that.

Teeth.
I don't know why. Your teeth are the only part of your skeleton that you can see. You bleach 'em, you lose em, you put metal racks on them so you remold your bones to the shape that society finds visually appealling. There's a fictional woman that breaks into your house to pay you for these bones. It sounds like a straight up sociopath. We get film on them that calcifies & solidifies & makes other bone-like material. Like teeth are weird, dude.
Dancing. Like people flail around in weird and awkward ways to sounds.

it's weird that sometimes you can feel someone looking at you. You look up from your book or whatever, and this person is staring at you. What?

I watched a documentary on how unhealthy it is for human consumption...they even called it cow puss!!!...I've been cooking with and drinking almond and soy milk since then lol nasty!
