50 Incredible Behind-The-Scenes Pics That Shed A New Light On Celebrities And Movies
When it comes to the big screen, the viewer, like you and me, gets to see only a tiny part of the carefully staged and very well-calculated world that happens behind the cameras.
We suspect there are hundreds of people if not more working behind the scenes, while we only get to see one or two actors in one shot. Turns out the magic happens way before the lights go off in movie theatres and it takes one hell of a joint effort to make the final result reach the audience.
Thanks to the “Far Out Cinema” Facebook page, which has collected some of the most intriguing, rarely seen and totally wild photos from behind the scenes, we can now get a real glimpse behind the lights, camera, action.

In Lord Of The Rings, The Majority Of The Riders Of Rohan Were Women With Fake Beards. The Horses Used Were Owned By Those Women
Excellent! If only someone had told Eowynn that she didn't need to sneak in to ride with the Rohirrim.
This make me think about my brother. When he was assaigned to escort the Swedish king and queen as part of his military service he was the only guy among a lot of women because he was the only man who didn't sit on the horse as "a sack of potatoes"
The cynic in me wonders if they did that because they could hire women cheaper or was it really altruistic
I believe it was because more women than men owned horses in the general area (could be wrong don't kill me)
Load More Replies...I've only watched one of the films. was having a party at mine and this guy said he was one of the black evil horse riders. cue youtube and he points himself out, cue the end credits and his name isn't on it. he says well i didn't want to get acknowledged. turns out he was a plumber, not on the set just a plumber and a bad one. mwa mwa mwaaaaa. buuurrrnnnnnnnn
My mum's best friend worked on LotR as a rider for about 15 months! She was a very experienced horse rider. My uncle was a set painter (he's worked on all Peter Jackson's movies actually) and my mother and I were hobbit extras. When gandalf comes into town on the cart and horse and sets of fireworks for the kids I was the little girl in the middle wearing pigtails and a blue dress, holding my hands facing out but all rigid as a jumped up and down (embarrassing... I was only 6 tho). My best friend at the time named Robin was the boy on the far left with curly white blond hair. Funnily enough he was the only one who had hair that was curly enough to not need a wig! When the hobbit was being filmed one of my work colleagues was an elf extra, and he worked all 3 movies apparently, as his full time job was working remotely for a Canadian business, so he'd work nights for them and do the movie shoots during the day. I also dated someone from weta workshop, their Xmas parties are wild!!
I love that part in the commentary "see that pain he's showing (after kicking a helmet or something)? That's real. He just broke his toe". (Paraphrased)
Load More Replies...You can't cast someone to act like something they aren't! How dare you not give those roles to men. /satire
No. The Riders of Rohan were men, not dwarves, hobbits, elves, or whatever.
Load More Replies...I know Tolkein wrote the books in a different time. But this pisses me off because it's one more example where a toxic male would say "women can't survive without men's protection blah blah blah" and yet again we find, actually no the women are doing just fine
My guess would be that they provided the horses and thus didn't require additional training with them
