My name is Matt Dixon. For over ten years I've been making digital artworks of robots. Exploring the world they inhabit and collecting the works of art into the 'Transmissions' books.
Since being diagnosed with a rare eye condition in 2015, the time I spend with my unique art has become more precious than ever. The condition, macular dystrophy, means that I am slowly losing my central vision. There's no cure and it's impossible to say how quickly the deterioration will progress; I simply don't know how long I'll be able to continue working the way I know.
Knowing there's a day waiting for me in the future when I'll have to stop or change the way I work is scary, but it's a wonderful motivator and I don't think I've ever been so productive with my drawing ideas. The urge to explore the world my cool robots inhabit has never been so strong. I've always enjoyed my work but since learning about my eye condition I appreciate each brush stroke in a way I never have before.
The diagnosis left me feeling pretty low for a while but really it was just a reminder to savor the moment and enjoy the wonders that are all around us. I think that's the message my robots have been trying to send all along.
A crowdfunding campaign for Transmissions 3, my new collection of colorful drawings, is in progress.

So beautiful. I believe we have done androids a terrible disservice projecting so much id onto them before they even exist... only humans steel themselves systematically against empathy to take from others what they don't even need. Machines may not be very intelligent yet, but their logic would be far better than that.
I love your work, Matt, and I wish you as much time as possible to continue your work. Blessings to you.
Hi Matt, Your artwork is amazing. I really love this photo. Do you mind if I use this photo for my profile picture on my YouTube? My channel is nothing special, just saving my favorite music videos.
Beautiful and somehow poignant in a way. Kind of reminds me of Wall-E alone in a way...
He needs someone to give him a push.....and maybe an oil can for his joints. LOL
Aaww, hope it was a good thought (the globe ontop usually signifies a thought). Cute
I think he is enchanted with the moth. With the little heart in the wires. It is really a cute picture.

I love that your robots are like children that are forever child like.
What a coincidence that this looks like the artwork to this track https://youtu.be/d1vAxcJGdDI
I know, right! It is very full of imagination. Very cool.
Load More Replies...I think you mean "Howls moving castle by studio ghibli and Hayao Myazaki. I think Hauru is a character from The Oran High School Host Club. If you ever want to read the book/s that Howl is based on look up Diana Wynne Jones. It's a brilliant series.
Load More Replies...By now you've probably begun hating people who dish out well-meaning health tips, but a supplement called Asthaxantine has helped me tremendously. Love your work, by the way.
My favorite one. His little lopsided grin makes him look so childlike.
I think it means the world is above you and we tend to look down all the time into our daily routine but never bother to look up. Hence why he looks alone and in the dark of the worlds shadow. But hey art is what ever the person looking at it perceives.
Your beautiful soul shines through your art. Blessings and healing energy sent your way.
Matt, How delightful your robots are, I love them. Thank you for sharing them with us. Have you ever thought of making a series of children's books about them? I really think children would love them Grandma Char
I feel like this robot is a reflection of myself, I love Matt Dixon's work.
These little robots scratch at my heart. Each tells a story, if only we would see and hear it. Thank you!

Load More Replies...These had me thinking if I'm human or a lonely robot pretending to be human?
I TOTALLY feel you on this one... I was thinking, "but that's what it feels like to be human sometimes"

Load More Replies...Those are really good. You are very creative. Keep it up, you have a good thing going. And if people don't appreciate it that is their loss.
I love your work so much. It's very touching and beautifully done. <3
I'm not exactly sure why, but these to me feel related to autism. Now, I am a person with Autism, and in no way am I trying to throw a blanket over the Autism spectrum and call it one thing, but I can actually relate to these little bots and where they are. Thanks for sharing your talent with the world! ^-^
Hello. Your paintings are just amazing. It SO sucks, that someone with your talent has such illness. Stupid moronic fate or whoever is responsible for that. You definitely should paint as much as possible till you can, you have both incredible fantasy and technique. I wish you well and look forward to see more art from you.
Hey ! I like your style so much ! Keep doing ! Its so pretty ! Love , Panda 🐼
