FullSpectrum, have you ever heard about different miles used in Europe? German mile, French mile, English mile (English naval mile), etc. all of them something between 1,5 and 2 kilometers. And than there was Czech mile. Exactly 7530 meters. According to the name 'mile' it should be one thousand of something. Usually it was something like 'thousand times distance between king's [enter name] thumbs' or something similar. But where on earth we got nearly 4 to 5 times bigger mile than anybody else?

You still use miles because you're behind the times!

Guess what,everyone uses miles when flying is involved, because even Europeans know trying to us Kilometers for long distances is just stupid.

You sure have a lot of misspellings for someone upset over a typo. And I don't use Reuters' abbreviation because I used velocity and momentum in physics calculations which require the units to be in a functional form.

The truth about Germany is that approximately 90% of the Autobahns are covered with construction sites. ;)

@FullSpectrum Survivalist Sorry, my fault- I hope you enjoyed it ;) I said "nearly a myth" - We have so many road works and new limitations. Many things have changed since the early 90s. Of course we have parts of the Autobahn, where you can drive very, very fast, but that's really not so often. But I have to tell you something - When we visited the USA in April, we noticed something. The Americans, or the people in the US drive very polite and nice. When we got back home, it felt like driving next to crazy suicidal people. Germans often drive very rude and egoistic. So we would love to come back to the US and rent a car again :D :D

Anna I was stationed in Germany from 88 till 91, it's not a Myth. I know, I drove the Autobahn many times. I saw one car pass my 5 ton dump truck doing 80 MPH in the far left lane so fast nobody could even tell what kind of car it was. I saw it in my rear view mirror, looked forward again, and it was already topping rise about half a mile away, so not a rumor.

You never visited Germany 😄 There are more rules and limits then you could ever imagine. And the "Autobahn without Speed Limits" is nearly a myth. As Hans said...
