Giuliano Dore, the co-founder of 'Get Groomed,' and his team explained to Bored Panda how to keep long hair healthy and the best way for men to take care of it.
"We have a number of male customers with longer hair who are looking for advice from us about how to keep their hair healthy," Giuliano said. According to 'Get Groomed's' barbers, cutting the ends of your hair just a tad from time to time keeps your hair healthy.
"There is no shame in taking care of your hair with different oils like argan oil, castor oil, etc. do not over-wash your hair, use hair bands that don’t pull at the root," the 'Get Groomed' team shared.

Unfortunately, one of the biggest problems is that some men believe that taking care of their hair isn't very masculine. "While most women know the tips and have been maintaining long hair for a long time, men do not necessarily talk about hair maintenance. They just don’t know and some men still believe that hair maintenance is not 'manly' and suffer from hair loss. This self-harm needs to stop!"
Giuliano recommended checking in with your barber or hairstylist at least once or twice a month if you've got longer hair: even a quick check-up works out in the long-run. He also pointed out that he and his team have some quality material up on their blog about hair treatments and hair loss.

Deciding that you want to have long(er) hair is a serious moment. It’s a lot like starting to work out: it’s an adventure that you’ll have to make a lot of sacrifices for. And that’s not being dramatic for the sake of being dramatic.
Think of all the extra time you’ll spend washing your hair, drying it, combing it, and untangling random objects from your locks. Then there’s the financial investment, too. First and foremost, you’ll be using a lot more shampoo from now on. But that’s not all. You might even have to start using… conditioner. [Dramatic gasp.]
Then you’ve got various oils and balms for your hair. There has been a time where long hair on men was normal, even very fashionable, so why not bringing it back and break with today's stereotypical view of men?

One of my history professors said that short hair among official military became de rigueur as it was too easy during battle for the enemy to grab a soldier by his long hair and kill him. Thus not just Romans but Chinese soldiers were required to have short hair. In addition, in camps, lice and fleas were a big problem, short hair was easier to keep clean and camps a little cleaner. I like these guys with the long hair. But sometimes necessity becomes more important.
