From nomophobia, an irrational fear of being without a mobile phone, to xanthophobia, a fear of the color yellow, countless phobias exist out there. Now this time, we’re delving into the mind of megalophobes, people who are in fear of anything large, like skyscrapers and jumbo jets.

In fact, there’s a whole corner of Reddit dedicated to sharing examples of this phobia known as megalophobia. “A place to post images of all things large, particularly ones that are 'triggers' for those with megalophobia,” the group’s description states.

Below we rolled up some of the most interesting examples shared on the group, so scroll down. Also, when you’re done reading this one, make sure to check out part 1 of the article.

The universe is so effing unbelievably big. An astrophysicist in a documentary told, that even if we were able to travel at the speed of light, we would not be able to travel further than our own innergalactic neighbourhood, let alone another galaxy.

It is interesting to think that until as recently as the 1920s Scientific consensus was the Milky Way was the only galaxy. Beyond our galaxy was nothing.

Some galaxies actually appear more than once in this image due to light being distorted by the massive gravity pulls of galaxy clusters nearer to us. As the light from the more distant galaxy hits the gravity field of the nearer clusters it is distorted around both sides of the cluster, making it look like it's in two locations simultaneously.

HOW could we be alone? So many galaxies, so many planets, space has no limits and we consider ourselves exclusively entitled to all of it? For what? Why so many galaxies and planets when theres only human kind? Which is, lets be honest here, neither very kind nor very smart. The thought of no other life out there is devastating.

That’s an image from the James Webb Telescope - you can tell because of the lines coming off the stars: that’s because of the hexagonal mirrors on the telescope. Also… imagine: there are millions of stars in one galaxy, and each one may have a planet. Some of these planets may be in what we call the Goldilocks zone - the place where water can stay in liquid form and not boil or freeze. After billions of years, that planet may hold life - but not just microbial life and bacteria - actual intelligent life that we could communicate with one day. All this is expressed by the Frank Drake Equation (Frank Drake was the founder of SETI, a company that looks for intelligent life on other planets, where I hope to work someday!) RIP frank drake ❤️ Signed a budding astrobiologist 😜

Why do the stars have the spikes coming off of them in these images? Is that just an artifact of the Webb telescope's mirror configuration, or...?

Imagine a pile of stones made of black, blue, grey and white gravel, I pick a pattern, white, back, blue, grey, grey, blue. What are the chances of finding that pattern on that pile? Quite likely. And they would be everywhere, extend the pattern, you need a bigger pile and would have to look longer and they would be harder to find. Now imagine a pile of of stones the size of the observable universe, and the pattern of billion billion items of this 4 colours. Could we find that pattern in that unimaginably huge pile? I think it's likely. That's the odds of someone in one if those galaxies looking at the same picture from the other side.

Yes but we're seeing them for the blink of an eye relatively-speaking, as they were hundreds, thousands, millions or billions of years ago. So the chance the inhabitants exist today is a small fraction of the number of Earths.
