The reason behind All Hallows Eve popularity is probably the chance to turn into someone else for a day; a tradition, that has deeper roots than you might think. On September the 30th all the spirits, mean and good, are released from the Afterworld into ours, with the agenda of bringing more living people in. The Halloween costumes were meant to hide you from these spirits by pretending you’re one of they’re own so they won’t see you. Since people have figured out that getting into afterlife doesn’t quite work that we way, Halloween costumes have gone far from the original ghosts, ghouls, and witches.
Even if you don’t have children, you’ll appreciate the creativity behind some of these costumes for kids. I'm sorry, that's NOT GANDHI. It's more DALAI LAMA. Gandhi didn't wear a saffron robe, he wore white. Dalai Lama on the other hand, does.
