How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? Scientists may never know the answer to this tongue-twisting question, but we do know one thing about wood: woodworkers worldwide are working hard to turn wood into wonderful works of art.

If you are not familiar with the Woodworking subreddit, have you been living under a log? Sorry, I’m only yanking your chain(saw). This community is famous for woodworkers sharing their most incredible and creative creations from bird feeders to bookshelves to bowls. We’ve gathered some of our favorite posts from the group to share with you down below, so you too can admire their handiwork and celebrate just how much effort and artistry went into these pieces. Be sure to upvote all of your favorite creations, and then let us know in the comments what you would create if you had the superpower of turning wood into anything your heart desires. Then if you’re interested in checking out Bored Panda’s last article on the same subreddit, look no further than right here.

I am so glad there are still people doing and appreciating this craft. When I was a kid I met several artisans in Rome that made and repaired marble statues and wood ornamental pieces for our old buildings. Their major complaint was that no one wanted to apprentice and learn the craft. I seriously thought about it, but then I was called to the army and things went another way.

In 1993 Disney dubbed this for release under their contract with Studio Ghibli. It was held up for four years and finally released in 1997. The voice actress who dubbed for Kiki was Kirsten Dunst and she has been nicknamed "Kiki" ever since. With DVD/BR you can see either version. I recommend the subtitled version because other than Ms Dunst, the dubbed version is lacking. I remember buying a bootlegged video tape in late 1980s from a little store in San Jose, CA and for $1.00 more getting an English script to follow along. Good thing as my Japanese sucked at that time. The voice actress for Kiki also played Ursula. It's neat when you watch their scenes together. Takayama-san rocks. This is a great movie to watch whenever you are down in the dumps.

I’m trying to decide if legs like that can be made with a lathe? Someone who’s done it, help me out please. They’re beautiful! They really look time intensive too, especially in their uniformity.

I don't think they can be made with a lathe. Of course, I'm in no position to say that bc I didn't make that and I'm still a beginner when it comes to wood working

This is very cool! Love the design! Does the top thin shelf.have a function? I only ask because I think it would be perfect to have a flat drawer slide out with no sides on it to put prints or sketches in. Might be a little tall for that but, well done!

Thank you for sharing! My grandma was completely blind from birth and the incompetency people assumed of her was pretty infuriating. Strangers would ask her how she got herself dressed. Can you dress yourself with your eyes closed? Come on people. She taught piano for a living and was a wonderful mother and seamstress, crocheter, cook and housekeeper. She used a typewriter to send letters to the sighted and used to read me stories in the dark. She was a talented person, as are you. I am thrilled that you are sharing your talent with the world. More need to know that blind people can do many amazing things.

I would keep the lower cabinets and counter top only with a matte veneer, but I would paint other surfaces white. Would make the interior feel less crowded, more spacious, better lit and would actually bring out the patterns of the lower cabinets better.

That really is the best kind of relationship. My boyfriend of 18 years, and I spend so much time together building things, including a efficiency apt for a friend's daughter. We fish together, cook together, garden, etc. and never seem to tire of each others company. I've always enjoyed building stuff. He doesn't expect a perfect little house mouse, I thank the Lord every day, because I almost missed this one. Best wishes

Nice, I see you too come from the same electrical school of design. A warning: it will grow. You will buy cable organizers. They will eventually fail. You'll buy more. Those too will fail. Cut to the chase and move everything behind the headboard like I did. Use short screws, that too is from experience.

Chevron is the zigzag pattern, cast in resin is putting them in a box and pouring the purple plastic stuff all around it, “turned it down” means trimmed with a lathe to cut off all the excess resin and wood to make it’s final shape.

Very nice and elegant. I made one similar but I had a hell of a time finding decent handles. All that's out there are cheap, faux patinated metal that weighs as much as a coke can. Eventually I made mine of brass tubing and I am waiting for it to make a patina so I can paint it clear. There must be somebody that sells real hardware instead of the fakes.

Nice. I just bought a cheap semi-hollow telly to practice my lutherie skills and I was thinking of something similar. So far, I installed a brass nut (That I can elevate to play slide), locking tuners (I do that on all my restores now) and changed the neck humbucker to something a bit fatter. Next I am installing a 5 way switch to split the neck humbucker and I am loking into a thin humbucker for the bridge, but I'd really love to do something similar with the pickguard. Also love your bridge. Did you make it or did you find it like that?

I had a friend try to build a guitar years ago. VERY difficult. The body wasn't a problem, but he couldn't get the neck strengthened enough to keep tune (even with the reinforcement rod).

If you love woodworking and can put up with snotty customers, then do it for a living. If you can't stand dealing with customers, but love working with wood, then do it as a hobby. I know people that made a living out of their hobbies, got caught up in drama from outside sources and ended up hating their hobby later. Don't destroy what you do to relax to make money...enjoy yourself.
