How many calories would you need to eat to lose that much weight in only 2y? Anybody knows? I have been eating 1400kcal a day on average for the last five months and I lost three kgs... :( I am aiming for 1200 now but its difficult to be able to cook nice meals at the same time.

I don't know what he is trying to say. I mean, there are showers and scissors in China. I could walk around my garden for a year without showering or grooming, and would get the same result.

I think he looks fantastic in the last pic. In the first he's just a school boy, in the second you can see, that he has experienced a lot in that year. He looks kinder in the last pic.

I'm sure he showered and kept up his personal hygiene at the end of each day. Letting his hair grow out, and not shaving( a lot of men hate to shave) is all part of the whole experience! I'm sure he walked thru cities,but I guarantee you, he spent a lot more time walking in rural areas; probably camped a lot of nights, and it's not just a physical trip; it's a mental one as well; the taking a self-discovery journey, no distractions, time to reflect, . "getting back to nature" as they say. This guy walked across a whole country! He walked for a year! And when he finally came to the end of his journey...he snapped a selfie, as-is.He didn't clean up, dress up, then come back to take the pic. He took a pic at that very moment-and captured all the physical and mental states of himself, in a single second of time. If he had cleaned up, and came back, that pic would have lost what made it real-the emotion of the year long journey, and finishing it. See part of the story in his face?

Maybe he tried to grow his hair and beard out to show how much time has passed? I think it was intentional. If he wanted to cut it, he could easily do so even with scissors

One reason more to see why "race" is a ridiculous concept. I bet that a lot of people wouldnt say that the person in the right is "white" when they see both together. Same if you see me (extremely pale and more "north european" looking) and my sister (very tan and more "mediterranean" looking)

It's funny that back in the '60s and '70s climbing boots were made with very stiff, almost unbendable soles and rigid ankle support. When you walked in them it was a bit like the Herman Munster walk. Changes in climbing technique led to changes in the equipment as well.
