At 1200, you're likely to start kicking your body into starvation mode, at which point your metabolism will slow even further. You're probably eating too few calories so your body is storing energy...figure out your BMR then multiply it by like 1.2 if you aren't active and 1.5 if you are somewhat active...most people trying to loose weight under eat and sabotage their weight loss

please don't go down to 1200 unless you're an extremely short person or have consulted a doctor... it can be dangerous and send your body into starvation mode

Well the math itself is simple. 1 pound is 3500 calories. So 100x3500=350,000. 2 years so 365x2=730. Then total calories divided by total days is 350,000/730=480. So on average she burned an extra 480 calories than she consumed. That's a sandwich or half a cheese burger or two candy bars.

I did it on about 1000kcal a day, less than 100g of carbs. DO NOT do it like I did. Just exercise however you can and don't go under 1200kcal a day

3kg or 6lbs is something to be proud of. :) To answer your question, it depends on your gender, current weight, and activity levels. 1200 is too low and is not healthy, but if you went to 1300 and did more exercise, you should see your weight go down faster. However: the best diet is one you can maintain. 1400 is a much healthier amount to be eating, so you are probably better off not to go below that and try to be more active. Neither diet alone nor exercise alone can really do the trick long term. Also note, that unfortunately, the more you lose the harder it gets. You may need to settle with 10-15lbs above your target weight, or at least don't beat yourself up about it if it's taking forever to get there. Most importantly, keep up the good work! Continuing for 5 months is a really big deal, just don't give up, if bad days happen just dust yourself off and try again, you've got this. :D

As everyone else has said, lots of factors come into play, and it all comes down to your health status. Mine was water retention rather than fat, so maybe you want to make sure about that too. Also, here's a tip to burn calories faster --> keep your blood clean, in other words, eat foods that help promote your blood flow. Ginger, for example, works wonders. But yeah, get a health check, if you haven't already, and start from here.

Intermittent fasting might be for you. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if you had multiple FOOD INTOLERANCES/ALLERGIES. Cut out common food allergens like dairy, eggs, wheat, corn, nuts, and whatever else might be causing you to hold onto weight. SOME of it might be fluid that will drain out of your body w/ some dietary changes. Some might also be HORMONALLY-influenced weight gain. You might be one of those very sensitive people who need to do a cleanse and eat a very clean diet. EXPERIMENT and try things you haven't tried before. Whatever your heritage is, try to adhere to a diet that conforms to what your ancestors ate--it'll usually agree w/ your biology. Hope you do well by ELIMINATING problem foods from your diet. If you're consuming relatively few calories, and aren't insulin-resistant, and are getting enough exercise, there might be other factors and issues with your body. You don't even need to go to a doctor. Just anticipate what they'd prescribe to you.

While no food should be considered "bad", there are some that should be eaten VERY rarely, like white rice (rice has a LOT more calories than you'd think plus it's rarely eaten alone...) saltine crackers, white pasta, white bread, foods made from white wheat flour, and white potatoes. Most raw vegetables are "eat all you want"; most cooked vegetables are, too, so long as they're not flooded in oils/grease/salt. Salt is not your friend. Sauces and gravies are not your friend. Water, sleep, and exercise/playing ARE your friends. Slow and steady goes a long way. You need to be able to keep motivated during the weightloss, so imo its better to keep on making your nice meals for 1400kcals a day

Start working out with weights, trust me building muscle will do wonders for your energy consumption! Speaking from personal experience!

I'm on a low carb program rather than a low-cal program. I would recommend consulting with a local doctor who specializes is metabolic and bariatric medicine. Most insurances will cover it because it's essentially seeing a specialist and not surgery.

It really comes down to exercise. When you diet your body slows down your metabolism, making you sluggish and still hold the weight. If I really cranked hard on an elliptical, I could burn 400 calories in under 25 minutes, which was easier than cutting 400 calories out of my meals and it sped up my metabolism in the process.

It's not just how much you eat, it is also about what you eat.

Calorie deficit doesn't work indefinitely and it works very slowly with some underlying conditions. Have you been checked out for thyroid etc? You might need to eat more and do more exercise to kick up your metabolism. Your body has gone into starvation mode and is frantically storing all the calories it can!

Here's what worked for me. Calculate how much kcal you need with a TDEE calculator (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) like this one: https://tdeecalculator.net. All kcal you eat less than that a day will translate to weight loss. Like Marc said, a total deficiency of 7000kcal translates to 1kg weight loss. Worked reasonably accurate for me. I use an excel sheet, but of course there's apps for this too. 1400 kcal sounds pretty low, even if you're a small woman (women in general need less calories). Are you sure you're calculating correctly? I use a kitchen scale for high calorie items like nuts of cooking oil to measure them correctly. And of course like Marc said add some exercise if you don't do that already, though food is the main factor. Good luck!

I tried a doctor's suggestion of 900 calories, but I gotta watch my blood sugar. 900 calories along with Glipizide twice a day would take my blood sugar to under 95 and made very dizzy, nearly blacked our once then my husband is trying to force a fun size Snickers down my throat! Kinda defeats the purpose! I'm on 1250 a day now. Much better.

Most likely she had surgery. I’ve been eating 1100 calories a day for 5 mths and cut almost all sugar out and only lost 22lbs. It’s tedious

No offence to anyone ever but diets are stupid. (Just sayin. U dont seem on a specific one tho)Just count em be concious and exercise. Get good sleep and good water intake. If u go into too much of a calorie deficit your body will actually store more fat and slow ur metabolism (go into starvation mode) and ur weight loss journey will suck big nuts. And youll gain it all back as soon as you stop counting. All im saying is be careful. Dont rush ur body. Water. Sleep. Stretches. Join a fun exercise or class (i always suggest zumba or group gym training)

It not only depends on how many calories you eat, but also on your physical activity. Also, you should check your metabolism and hormones, because some people have slower metabolism than others, and there are conditions, such as hypothyroidism, or cystic ovaries that lead to weight gain.

The difference between intake and output is the key. You also need to crank up the amount of calories you spend. Buklding muscles will also help you burn even more calories.

Start lifting weights. It's a myth that women will look like men, don't fall for that. You will however ramp up your calorie expenditure by a significant number and start losing again, as well as firming up significantly.
