The works of this Japanese artist named Aria might leave quite an impression on you given that the artist is completely self-taught. Aria makes hyper-realistic 3D drawings that seem to come out of the paper as the artist makes it seem as if it's just an optical illusion. From random inanimate objects such as soda cans to fruits, the art is detailed and impressive, to say the least.
The artist first sketches out what she wants to draw and then mostly uses colored pencils to fill it in and give it some final touches to make it seem as if her two-dimensional works are in fact 3D.

Wow, fresh water cat fish... Locally known as Ikan keli in Malaysia, or Lele in Indonesia; bottom drawler n feeder, having soft sweet flesh, popular cooked spicy n coconut milk;
They should've at least shown one pic from above angle so we can see the drawing is flat on paper. I saw these once on Instagram and they're so unbelievable to see that the artist actually drew them flat on paper.
We are pretty sure Aria's works could easily be mistaken for optical illusions as they are incredibly realistic and accurate when compared to their real-life counterparts. The artist usually does drawings depicting soda drinks, packaged food, and even in some cases real animals such as spiders, fish, and even octopuses. Surprisingly all of the drawings are done only using paper and colored pencils.
This is not a picture of the drawing, right? This whole image is the drawing (table top, background), right?
The paper is cut around the glass, adding to the illusion
Load More Replies...So, the drawing extends beyond the edge of the "paper" onto what's supposed to be an oak table/ Did he create that as well?
WOW, you're really harsh on us!! Chill out, okay? These drawings are absolutely awesome, it's hard to wrap your head around the fact these are drawings and not photos! We all totally appreciate the talent.
Load More Replies...TRIGGER WARNING: There's a humongous, very real-looking drawing of a spider a few posts down.
I'd like to see a picture showing it from the "wrong" perspective to see how this looks.
This one is a joke right? Its just a can sitting on the paper... right? It has to be... right???!!!
When we think of 3D art, the most common form that springs to mind is the incredible chalk art which uses mathematical perspective and artistic skill to brighten sidewalks. However, overall 3D street art takes many forms, just like in Aria's case. So Pandas, let's take a look at the incredible variety of 3D drawings made by this Japanese artist.
I think the octopus looks more realistic than any other animal thus far. It's gorgeous and looks like it's going to slink off the page.
Load More Replies...Amazing! Just the gradient of color in the shadow is outrageously accurate!
Oddly enough, I can tell this is a drawing. It seems more two-dimensional than the others.
You can see it more clearly in the coke bottles below, like Erika says, it’s a cut out, but I still couldn’t work out how, but I think he’s cut down a much larger piece of paper so when it’s photographed from a certain angle it looks 3D, if you saw it in person, the effect wouldn’t be quite the same unless you were lined up correctly.
Load More Replies...I love how it feels like I could grab the coke bottle right off the page and drink it. The artist even added the reflection of the room in the coke to heighten the realism.
what makes you say that? IF IT SAYS DRAWING ITS A DRAWING
Load More Replies...I've drawn a shoe before and it wasn't easy and mine was only in pencil so I can't imagine how hard full color must've been
And yet if you zoom you'll clearly see it's a drawing
Load More Replies...Because its sitting on the paper. None of these are actually drawings...
Load More Replies...I remember in my drawing class having to draw an egg, Not just any egg, but exactly the one in front of me right down to the minute blemishes on the shell. It was a lesson in observation.
The art is so good but I'd like to see a photograph of the subject next to it! I've never seen a Fuji apple look so blue...
Anyways for all of y'all doubting the drawings this one's a little easier to see the cutouts!! Yes they are all drawings it's not the soda on the paper like everyone else said it's legit they cut it out to give it a more 3rd vibe and for the water glass you can see a slight wiggle on the top of the glass that shows its not an actual glass lol
I am converted to Arianism. I am a believer now. The tail gives it away. It is true sketches not optical illusion, was sceptic until this picture.
Now see I like the other ones but I can't seem to see this snake in 3d on the paper with the signature because I keep seeing the head detached from the body. But the body of the snake on the bigger paper I see in 3d. It's just the head that screws up the illusion for me. The rest of them are amazing...this is too though don't get me wrong. I'm no artist and I'm in awe of anything more than a stick figure since that's about all I can draw
No way…did they draw the table and background as well? These look too good to be true 😬
To achieve the 3D appearance, the drawing has to be stretched and elongated and viewed from a specific angle. Cutting the paper adds to the illusion by creating a new edge "behind" the image. Here's a simple demonstration of the technique: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7Kz3ME6KcQ
Load More Replies...NO WAY!!! HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE!?!?!? THE CAN IS STANDING STRAIGHT UP!!!
Just admit you can’t draw instead of trying to sound smart by ‘questioning’ other artist’s work
Load More Replies...That butter and syrup are too perfect. This is the only one I'd even question though, these are amazing. How do I get real life pancakes to look that delicious?
I'm finding this one to look least realistic somehow
Load More Replies...It does look like it, but if you didn't know, that's caviar
Load More Replies...Everyone is screaming and running and you’re just like ‘aww’. 😝
Load More Replies...There are thousands of kinds of spiders--from tiny to huge. I heard a scientist on e say, ":You're never more than three feet from a spider." And they are very beneficial animals.
So you Aracniphobes need to just chill. They're everywhere!
Load More Replies...My guess is they did the outline then they drew in the pattern to fit the glasses round reflection and then proceeded to add white and such to looked more like reflected light and such like they did to the bottom (accept the bottom uses darker colours to give it round feels)
Load More Replies...I don't think it's reflecting.. I think it's actually drawn on the glass to match the background. Amazimg.
So what colored pencils draws clear glass like that!? I am taken aback at the number of people who looked at these images and then actually offer explanations at how the "artist" "drawed" the image....none of these are actual drawings...
Lol I think it's all a drawing. The glass, the paper, the rings, the pencil s, everything
Load More Replies...There’s at very big and realistic spider at post 29. Don’t scroll if you’re scared of spiders.
buy 8 of those corn stick snacks. they used to only be 10 yen, but now there 12, according to soranews
Load More Replies...Even the wear-and-tear...... Omg.... 😳 Such talent surely cannot even be HUMAN!!!! 😯 JUST OMG!!
there is a giant realistic drawing of a spider 2 posts down. just warning you..
Thanks so much for the warning. It's appreciated.
Load More Replies...Now that you mention it, the paper should look wet where the condensation has dripped.
Load More Replies...I like that he showed this work in progress. Makes it all the more mind blowing how much talent he has.
I’m more impressed with how rapidly the artist must have to work with the catfish and octopus models before their lifeless bodies start to stink up the studio.
The trick that really makes this looks real is the fact that the drawings are going beyond the paper size.
This. artist is a major talent. I'd really like to see some of his/her other works
I wouldn’t be surprised if this artist had a photographic memory. That would be interesting. Either way they have a massive amount of talent. Just wow.
…I’m confused… how do the drawings go off the page and overlap the table? Is this like a joke? Please be nice, just genuinely curious.
The artist cuts the paper around the object to make it seem like it’s coming off the page.
Load More Replies...If I were the artist, I’d throw in a couple of pictures of real life items just to see if anyone noticed!
