If you've been considering a career change, now's a great time to consider becoming a cat. That's because Lisa Swerling and Ralph Lazar, the creative artists behind Last Lemon, have created a simple and funny guide full of cute drawings for 'How To Be A Cat!'
The two calls these cat drawings the Internet's first “user-driven guide,” since they've been taking drawing ideas from their followers. The general gist of cat logic seems to be that you must strike a fine balance between apathy, neediness, and infuriating obstructiveness. If so, it would seem that my adorable cat is an expert.
Be sure to visit Swerling and Lazar's site, Last Lemon – they've got more funny drawings from this and other cool ongoing projects as well!

My cats taught me everything I know about Chronic FatigueďSyndrome
My cat Clairabell used to scratch on the door at around 3 am until I let her in. Once I let her in, she would lay on my chest and refuse to move . Let me tell you she's not a very light cat, I always had trouble falling asleep and tried to kick her off by she would always come right back. She also had a very loud motor so her purring also kept me awake.
Whenever my cat sleeps with me his purr helps me fall asleep and once he's asleep his little snores are super calming
Load More Replies...Our cat did just that, leaving no evidence whatever. She was only discovered when my mother decided to check the case for something she'd mislaid.
Is she trying to make me feel guilty for going on a vacation without her?
But when you open the doors of the fridge they are hearing from a km distance and come running XD
Make that 2km if you open a can of tuna - even if you use a nice, quiet manual opener!!
Load More Replies...I dont even have to open the pantry...one step into the kitchen all 3 running like the devil's chasing them.
I don't never never call them by name, just shake the cat food bag duh...
never? you should have never had them in the first place.
Load More Replies...But if you live with another cat respond quickly if they call the other cats name. They could be getting a treat behind your back.
One of my two is a smarty. When she's in the yard I just click a couple of times and she'll come running inside!
Or peek creepy through the small gap in the - for sure previously closed! - doors...
Or crawl inside your underwear on the floor while you're there?
Or, alternately, sit inside their pants/underwear and look "up", lol. (This is what mine do!)
Only twice a month? Let's see..... multiply by 4 cats and that's 8 times a month. Nope, my cats puke almost every day.
Load More Replies...mine does this in the bed, but only if I have just changed the bedding.
There's nothing on earth quite like the sound of a cat about to be sick
My cats hardly ever throw up and when they do, me and my twin sister lock our dad in the room with them... SO funny
Your cats probably do throw up, but your dog probably eats it.
Load More Replies...Twice a month? I get it nearly every day with at least 1 of my 3, they do it when I'm asleep so I have to scan the floor when I get up or my socks are off quick as they went on... Stepping in it happens far too often..
Nooo! That's wrong: Threaten "Vet" a few times. If no change, carry out threat....
I've got FIVE cats & they ALL do it. One of them has trained me to feed her at her favourite window seat where she will then ask for the menu & then the wine list before deciding on a nice little Catarratto Chardonnay. On a sunny day she will refuse the table at the window & insist on eating her meal al fresco (on the wall...)
My cat all over.. demands to be fed and acts like he hasn't been fed it weeks, then only eats half of what I give him
Yep. Although it helps Kate if I hold her food in my hand and raise to below her mouth.. I am her SLAVE....
I would have to disagree with this one and change it to "Act like you are starving when you can slightly see the boys from of your food dish. Stand by it and scream loudly like someone is hurting you until your human comes and covers up the dish bottom for you"
and complain LOUDLYYY when you can see the bottom of your plate (bowl)
Oh god, I get this all the time, at 4 hourly intervals through the night.
Mine start begging for more food before their bowls are even half empty - then walk away as soon as I add more, lol.
I had a cat who liked to chew big holes out of socks – or gloves or knitted hats. He didn't care if they were old or new, clean or dirty, wool or synthetic, they were all food to him.
Load More Replies...What that slave should've done was keep boxes the toys came in ;3
Or any paperwork you're attempting to do (taxes seem to be particularly appealing); any paper you're attempting to read or roll for the fire; and board games -- board games have their own allure.
When you are playing a game on floor, lay down in the middle of the gameboard. When hushed away, come right back and do it again. And so on
Ribbon? Crinkly wrapping paper!!!!! Better than bubble wrap!!!
My cat always tries to eat my food as if he were a dog. I never give him human food, but he likes to grab all kinds of vegetables. Since the moment I got a cat I haven't been able to eat in peace, because it's war
Lol my cat does the same thing shell take it and run
Load More Replies...My Siamese, Yasmin, likes to sit on the back of my chair to watch me eat. She loves chicken...and cheese.Every once in a while I'll feel her slender paw reaching around my neck towards my plate...
Mine simply lays comfy on my laps while I eat in peace and then asks for his share of food when I'm done :D
Mine likes to smell my plate, even if he doesn't like what I'm eating he insists on smelling EVERY plate of food I have. He has also trained my boyfriend to let him sniff his plate as well.
I woke up one morning to the sensation of my cat chewing my hair. Upon realising I was awake, Button began tapping my face repetitively. Once she was bored of that, she stood up on my stomach, turned around and farted at me.
And toes. Do not forget about chewing and/or biting them - in the middle of the night preferably XD
be sure to make lots and lots of biscuits in said hair to make it extra fluffy and pretty!
My Siamese, Gumbi, used to lick the excess water out of my hair when I'd wash it. She's groom me until all the water was gone from around my hairline..ear to ear..LOL
Also some potted plantsXD poor, unlucky plants... there is a system, one day I will discover it...
There is a trick! Take an orange peel and mist the oil from it on and around the plant. Also, a natural citrus spray will work. You can leave the peel in the pot for added deterrence! Good luck!
Load More Replies...I heard a crash one morning, and went into the living room to find my tree on its side, a lot of the decorations smashed, and one very self satisfied cat sitting underneath the stricken tree with nary a glimmer of remorse.
Nah. Mine was such an idiot when she was small. She pushed my cacti on a daily basis.
Load More Replies...Preen on a fence when a lot of people is going next to it and look smug when they are oohing and aahing XD
my cat can be nowhere to be found... until I close my door to get dressed or undressed
Also at 2am try to fit or sit in a plastic bag, they wont mind the nosie!
My newer kitty likes to play Chase the Kitty with my older one...across my bed...at 4AM!
My cats have perfected the art of opening drawers with the loudest possible noise :)
We had to baby proof our cabinets just to keep Simba and Jasmine from making them knock all night......and day
My Jessie used to wait till 3am then run up the side of a tall cane cupboard beside my bed and sit on its top! Nearly gave me a heart attack each time! Then, when I finally got back to sleep, she'd launch herself off the top, right onto my chest and race off!
Mine prefer to "help" make up the bed by continually jumping up on it while I'm putting on the fitted sheet, top sheet, blanket, etc., then yowling like I'm beating them within an inch of their lives when I pick them up and put them in the floor. Of course as soon as I'm done with the bed, they are no longer interested in it or in me ...
OMG We have three cats and they ALL do it. Sometimes all three at once. (I hate making the bed LOL)
Load More Replies...Mine did the same twice! I thought something was wrong with her. What does that mean? :(
Load More Replies...Don't have a cat, but from tales I have heard, these cartoons express much cat-truth.
You're changing bed linen? Well, we have to give it feline rubs of approval!!! Every piece!!
Don't let your cat outside duh. I also keep a towel tacked up behind the litterboxes so they will wipe their paws and not trackit.
Does the towel work? We used to have a rug but for some unknown reason my cat would pee on it all the time (even when I had just cleaned/changed the box) so we don't have anything right now and my bf is getting sick of sweeping every day
Load More Replies...SOOO very true!! My two beauties literally kept me going after losing my husband in 2014. When I had no other reason to get out of bed, they reminded me that I was still needed.
My littlest one bringed once a mole half her weight - it was only unconcious luckily and we put it in the garden. Markizka was stunned and then sooo offendedXD!!! She went after the mole again, but it was already gone and I could swear that she was poutingXD!!!
Our Cat Salem likes to bring me Butterflies. She must have overheard me say "I think they are beautiful", but I should added I prefer to watch them flying in our gardens & not mangled on our kitchen floor! :P
Load More Replies...I read somewhere that they do this because they think we are terrible hunters and need help
Or just sit on it, if possible, or get between human and book. Nothing is more important than looking at you!
My cat flap just goes into the closed garage. They go out there and hunt mice.
Nope, never experienced that. Please do not publish in Cat Newsletter.
All my cats have loved nibbling on my hair. I guess you're missing out.
Load More Replies...And cell phones and I pods and car keys basically anything that fits underneath you that you know your human will need
With the paw also. Then lick your paw to taste. Then again with your paw. Your human will appreciate your dedication.
Yes, but only AFTER your paw has just been in the litter box, lol. :p
Load More Replies...One of my cats would lick the inside of a beer bottle I was drinking. I know they shouldn't have alcohol but I don't think she could reach it. Not sure what she got from it.
My cat is just the opposite I can be gone 5 minutes and walk in the door being greeted by hin like I was gone all day.
Mine are the same, they know what my car sounds like so when I pull up I can hear them meowing from the window and when I walk in they are both standing directly in front of the door so it's hard to open and walk in without stepping on one or both of them. But I wouldn't trade that for the world I love being greeted when I come home
Load More Replies...My cat always came to greet me when I came home from work. But if I had been away for more than a day she sulked and went to hide instead.
If it was only under the sofa it would be easy. But they like to kick all the toys, small objects, even food under the big furniture parts, which are extremely hard to move.. :(
Once I ate tuna in front of my cats. They were infuriated and said I was the worst person
My family actually pulled it off at the expense of a few plants getting chewed a bit
Load More Replies...Mine get extra lovey with me when I'm running late for work in the morning and all they want to do is cuddle..... I would be lying if I said I wasn't late for work a few times because I was snuggling with my cats.......that sounds horrible when said aloud!!
Her next oldest sister, too, actually. GiGi demands laptime.
Load More Replies...My toddler used to tell this story about the "ghost" in his bedroom. It would come out at night to cuddle him. Then I discovered the white cat was hiding in his room until he fell asleep and going to lie down with him.
I know it's not probable that all domesticated house cats stay indoors and I also know that in rural areas they love being outside but I agree with Elena to an extent that in cities and densely populated areas cats should stay inside. My neighborhood just has so many cats wandering around outside whose owners don't bring them in EVER no matter if it's snowing raining or 10 below. I know not everyone is like that but personally if you live in a city I think your cat should be indoors or at least monitored while outside.
I've never let any of my cats wander outside. Once they choose me (all my cats have been rescues - most as abandoned kittens), they are indoor cats for life. Not only is it much safer for them, and ensures they will live longer - but it also eliminates any chance that they will bring fleas, ticks or parasites into my home.
Very recognizable, my girlfriends 2 catladies did this several times, first with Whiskas, then with Royal Canin, cost me a small fortune 🙄. Hopefully they like Gourmet for the rest of their lives 😄.
Somehow the most important part is not here: Move as your human moves, just right before their feet, half a step ahead.
Indeed, my cat had me tripped few times and looks annoyingly satisfied everytime she did it. -.-'
Load More Replies...LOL! My little dog has been secretly taking lessons from this cat!!
Love these! Makes me want to leave work and go slave around my cat! Human pet is missing you , kitty! :P
