Cats always seem to be cool and composed, but they can be just as neurotic as we are – some cats, like the ones in this list, are hoarders, and will collect piles of useless junk in their owners' homes!
Collecting food is a natural strategy, but scientists are still unsure of why cats hoard useless stuff like toys, bottle caps or milk rings. Some believe that they consider these toys to be like prey, while others believe that they gather these items the way they'd gather their own kittens.
Why do you think they do it? Let us know in the comments, and submit your own cat-hoard photos!

Sadie Is A Chapstick Theif. Today I Found Her Stash
That explains where chap stick goes. You don't lose it. Your cat steals it lol.
forgot to mention how, where did you keep them any way? because the cat would have to open a bag,or cupboard to get them
Load More Replies...She probably likes hitting them around like a hockey puck on your hardwood floors! That is what my cats do!
If only I can get the cap off.., then I wouldn't have to steal the next tube! Nothing like chapped lips and you can't use the damn chap stick!
My Cat Steals My Dogs Toys And Surrounds Her Food Bowl With Them

Love the cat's expression ! "Yeah, so what, I'm having a toy reserve, now you ruined it all by moving the couch! Are you happy now ???"
Now check under your refrigerator!!!! LOL Don't be surprised if this happens again & again.
Load More Replies...The first thing I do in my house on getting out of bed and my cat Grady watches (and expects it to happen) is to move the sofa to find all of his toys under there....an absolute must do every morning (and before I've had my coffee!!)
This cat obviously thinks cat toys are embarrassing - so they were stashed under the couch. LOL
What does that even mean? It's the cat who hid them....

Be happy! When I lived in Savannah GA, my cat would go out in the late evening and bring me cockroaches. I did not appreciate the offering !
Ummmm I'll take a sock over a live rabbit, mole, snake, frog, it bird any day! P.s. my cat has bought new all of the above!
My cat, Jasper brought me many sock pairs, similar to yours mainly at night. In addition, while doing this, she would let out the loud and odd "meow". I'm still not sure wha it meant. If she was carrying her kittens, although she was neutered and never had a litter of babies. I wish I knew?
Our Cat Steals And Hoards Bottle Caps. Found His Stash While Cleaning
This cat doesn't want sea birds to die because they eat that scum. Hero cat! <3
In France, we collect these bottle caps to help disabled people buy wheelchairs.
the look on thats cat face is - 'look at them all, I must chase!' lol
This is so my cat. I have shake out the dirty clothes because she likes to try and hide them in the basket. I have her on video taking one out of the bag to play with.
also makes one wonder how long did you put off cleaning if you found that many
We Found Her Collection Under The Sofa
She doesnt seem to regret anything at all. To be honest, none of them :)
In The Process Of Moving, I Found Her Stash

Had a cat that did the SAME THING. Found them when we moved the fridge
Load More Replies...Another environment saviour!! So cute- "I'll hide them so they don't kill anyone"
oh one of my cats loved those too. she could hear when you were taking them off the jug and come running.
We call them Gracie's bracelets. She hide them under the throw rugs.
The cat is showing off it's awesome collection. "...and this one here is my favorite. It's the first one I got which was about a year ago."
Cat is counting them to see if you threw any away and ruined it all!
Moved Couch To Vacuum. Suprise-Cat Stash
I told you she'll find out, I told you I told you!! I'm outta here~
I Found My Cat's Stash
One of our cats is always stealing our hair bands too. It won’t touch regular rubber bands though. Best part was when he was a kitten he would take them & put them in the toilet! I was so confused about why I kept finding them in the toilet until I saw him in action one day. Now he just shoves them under our rug.
I used to catsit for a week or two at a time. My client's cats always got into my travel case, specifically after my hair ties. I'd walk through the house and find them just lying around. On one job, she stole one of my hair ties so often, I just gave up and stopped taking it from her. It's hers now. I have sat there in several months, but I'm sure she's still practicing her french braids..
My cat can smell rubber bands. They can be a problem if swallowed so I always take them away.
these can kill a cat. they swallow them. this is not cute. put them away please
I Just Moved My Couch
They roll under the couch and it's up to us, their servants, to get them back out.
Apparently We Found Stan's Toy Stash Tonight
Oh! You wanted them lined up and color-coordinated! OK! Duly noted.

Last Week I Learned That Our Cat Was Stashing His Toys Under The Old Couch In The Living Room
well, i don't move furniture more often than once in a week or two. and if cat is alone in house when people are at work, then it has nothing btter to do, than hoarding :D
Load More Replies...Fagan stole shiny things to sleep upon; pennies, pens, my earings right off my ear, and unfortunately, the elderly neighbor's wedding ring.

Butters' Stash
How dare that cat steal the holy god of all candies known as Reese's?
Load More Replies...Butters is a very nice name for a cat that is quite Exotic looking. FNAF fans, please get this. But the cat is pretty though
I love the fact you called your cat Butter. I makes a nice change from poppy or tomcat. I prefer unusual names.
The Cat Is Delighted We Moved The Couch So He Could Get At His Stash
Bag Hoarder
Not good..... She can suffocate playing with these. I've seen it almost happen if someone hadn't caught it in action. Please make sure your animals can't get to plastic bags. They can also get the handle part wrapped around limbs and loose them.
For cats who like bags, paper bags and canvas totes can be fun. If they have handles they could get caught on, it's best to snip them. They also make bag-like beds and play tubes for cats.
Load More Replies...true. I hated going on trips to Battersea and seeing animals lose limbs because of objects being left lying around. I was told of the dangers of inanimate objects, and one story was a Great Dane who ate a plastic bag and suffocated because a rescue team didn't get it to a vet fast enough.

Hair Ties Is My Thing , I Make Sure Plenty Available Everywhere... I Also Need More
Only problem is.... If they chew one In half and then swallow it, it will bind up her digestive tract and could die. No no toy. We spent 3,000.00 untieing of kitty's intestines. Same goes with yarn or ribbon.
Absolutely true! Have to watch kitty when they play with these and then remove them after they are done playing.

Ferrets do this but I have never had a cat be a hoarder! Too funny. Now that you have made the discovery will they continue with like items?
My daughters cat is a hoarder, collects hair accessories, bottle caps, straws
Load More Replies...I love the photos, so funny... My cat is now over the Rainbow Bridge but he used to love to pinch the toothpaste tubes, when I found them they had little holes in them from his teeth, he must have loved the taste... lol.
I think a lot of that stuff was just put out for the cat to play with and it got under the furniture where the cat couldn't get it.
My cat hoards shiny pieces of plastic (packaging plastic) INSIDE the couch. We couldn’t figure out where he was getting all the plastic from because we would take it away when we saw him with it so he doesn’t eat it.
These pics are cute; however, I would never let my cat play with some of these things, example: hair ties, bottle caps from soda, milk bottle ties, etc. These are very dangerous to cats that's why I am so careful with my Lola. They could easily choke on these small items. Please be careful.
It's nice to see that my Lily isn't the only cat with a sock fettish Lily-and-t...66a739.jpg
What we learned from this: cats can put their "toys" under couches/furniture and be unable to retrieve them AND apparently cleaning your house is overrated when you see how many "toys" people find under their furniture.
