This is plain ignorance, if people took the time to look into it, terrorists are not true Muslims, they just use that as a mask to hide behind. REAL Muslims are kind, caring devoted people how would give you their last penny if you needed it more than them, the absolute opposite of what a terror it stands for. I’m not Muslim but some of the greatest people I know are, I wouldn’t trade those friends for anything.

Sadly, yes. This occurs most commonly in Muslim majority nations that do not believe in women's rights, but many organizations such as WADI are making a come back at this

We are friends with a dear family from Mosul and they are wonderful people and absolutely hate what these fanatics have done to their city and what they and their children had to witness. And what they had to go through fleeing to Europe. Heart breaking to hear their experiences.

It is my opinion that ALL MUSLIMS are not terrorists. That is to say that you can not be a Muslim and a terrorist at the same time. And the terrorists are giving Muslims a bad name.

This idea is partially created by a bunch of very lazy ,and obviously overpayed, reporters and journalists. They should write :Terrorist claiming to be Muslim Fundementalist but they shortened bit by bit. The day of the assault at Charly Hebdo I first read the new word muslimterrorist for the firsttime. They even left the dash inbetween out. That's NOT objective reporting. That's influencing and hatespeech.

Real question - how do you square your pacifism with many of the directives clearly stated in the Koran, given that many religious and political leaders (like Erdogan) avow that you can't just pick parts of the Koran to follow?

I could write volumes on the stereotypes about women, but one of the ones that I see the most online is that sleeping with a lot of men makes a woman's vagina loose. (To say nothing of the assumption that apparently, having a lot of sex with just one man doesn't.) 1) This is a myth created to control women and devalue them for having sex; it treats our bodies as consumable objects for men's pleasure with no regard for our own wants or agency. We're expected not to have sex so that we can be 'tight' for other men, because that's what THEY want. 2) Anatomically, it's also false. The human vagina can expand to accommodate a baby's head during birth, and afterwards return to it's usual size. No human penises are big enough to permanently expand a woman's vagina. 3) If a woman's vagina is tight, that doesn't mean she hasn't had a lot of sex; if a woman's vagina is less tight, that doesn't mean she's had a lot of sex. Like penises, women's vaginas are not all the same size. Additionally, a tight vagina can also be a sign that she isn't fully aroused, and needs more attention before inserting anything.

They need to teach more about this in schools, girls should not have too look up anything about their anatomy online. This is the first time I am learning about this, and honestly, I find that alarming. (not the information, the fact that I did not know this.)

A woman's external sex organs are her vulva, not her vagina - a vagina is the canal, not the external organs. Plus, a vagina (esp once you get past the opening, and not counting the mythical 'g' spot), has little to no nerve endings, so if you want to please a woman, you need to pay attention to the externals.

The G spot is likely just an area where it is easier to stimulate the internal part of the clitoris. Yeah the vagina in itself barely feels anything

these are all excellent points. however due to the acidic nature of vaginas and the basic nature of semen, the vagina has to balance out the pH. If the semen is from a single man every time, the vagina can adapt easily. but if the semen is from different men, the vagina has a tougher time attaining pH homeostasis; and the result can be malodorous. Fact checked, this is absolute horseshit. Yes semen has a higher pH. No your vagina cannot adjust more easily to a single partner. Your odour might change if you got bacterial vaginosis, but that is not more likely if you have unprotected sex with more than one partner. What can cause problems is spermicide, so use condoms without it. Go peddle your nonsense elsewhere and stop trying to make women worry about how they smell.

Atheists are more moral than believers because they do good just for the sake of doing good, not in hopes of appeasing some Sky Daddy (or Mommy). If you want to believe in a god or a messiah, that's your business - but please don't try to ram your belief down my throat, and please don't assume that I'm evil just because I don't worship anything.

I was raised as an atheist and decided as an adult that this is still my belief. why does a religious person has the right to ask me this question but in return they won't answer at all. can't be so hard to explain, when you fell the need to know why I don't belief in any kind of god

I've gotten the comment when I was younger that I must be an atheist and a socialist to piss off my parents. I was raised this way. Though, as for why I'm an atheist, I don't have the ability to choose to have faith in something. My brain doesn't work that way. It would be very comforting to believe in a heaven where I would be reunited with my loved ones, an afterlife, reincarnation, something besides my consciousness just blinking out of existence, but I can't make myself believe it absent evidence, no matter how much I would like it to be true.

I am Black/African American and it seems like non-Black people think we all live in the "hood", talk like gangsters or rappers (not articulate), listen only to rap, hip-hop or R&B music and grew up poor. I have been asked all my life why I sound white. Like, how do you "sound white"?! I have pulled up beside people in my car and they are shocked to hear classic rock or heavy metal coming out of my window (I listen to almost every genre of music). People need to understand that black people are not always what you see on TV and we are not 2-D or a stereotype. There are more educated black people that look, sound, and live like me than people seem to think.

I'm probably too late for this one, but want to add my $0.02 anyway. I'm well over a size 8 and always will be-- lost a good amount of weight last year, but the last ~30 lbs just. Won't. BUDGE. I subsist almost entirely on protein shakes and hit the gym for an hour and a half six days a week-- I even recently brought in kickboxing. I'm more toned, but am no slimmer. On the opposite extreme is someone I once knew who rarely moved off of her bed or the sofa except to grab another bowl of ice cream. She wasn't just thin, she was *bony*. Guess which one of us would be told by doctors to just "eat less and exercise more"? Which one of us is STILL dismissed by society as "lazy" based solely on our dress size? I actually had two friends that had metabolisms so high, they had a hard time retaining body fat and, as a result, had a hard time getting pregnant. Since I was watching everything I ate to lose weight, they knew I kept track of calories and fat closely. They asked me what could help them gain weight without taking in a lot of fat. I said, your three main killers are pasta, potatoes and rice. I told them how much calories were in each and that they all had little to no fat, that the fattening stuff was what you put on it. But I turned them on to Pasta Primavera and adding warm potatoes and rice to cold salad. Both, I am happy to say, have a couple of kids each. Being a heavy person is not an automatic dismissal of the knowledge we have or the hardships we face. We are struggling to be healthy every day. Everyone is different and some have to work harder than others to achieve it.

People need to stop perpetuating the myth that you can exercise away excess body fat; you can't no matter how able you are. It's a myth that the fitness industry makes use of, because if you join a gym and don't lose weight then it must be your fault for not working hard enough; not because it doesn't actually work. That fact is that our bodies are designed to gain body fat and resist losing it, as it is an effective survival trait. Even at a healthy weight we carry twice as much body fat as our closest relative in the animal kingdom; it's what allowed us to leave the jungle and spread across the earth. The only way to lose excess body fat it to eat less calories that we need; which is essentially starvation. Hunger is a powerful feeling which is designed to literally keep us alive, so it's extremely hard to ignore; as much as pain is.

People underestimate how hard it is to stick to a calorie restricted diet and go hungary, and just how long it takes to lose weight. There are ~7700Kcals in 1Kg of body fat, so if an average person need 2000Kcals to maintain a healthy weight it would roughly 77 days of eating nothing to lose 20Kg! Most people would find it hard to maintain a calorie deficit of more than 400Kcals, so at that it would take ~385 days on such a diet. Diets do work, but you have to stick to them. It takes a long time to lose weight; longer than most people imagine,

Those shakes contain a large amount of sugar. You can switch to a veggie diet and eat fresh Buddha bowls-minus the grains or fresh fruit for fewer calories and be healthier. The weight will come off too.

Hi, sorry I'm responding to this so late... I read the labels on my shakes (I use several different brands) and the vast majority have ~1g of sugar in them. If they'd been loaded with sugar, I doubt I'd've lost any weight at all! Agree with you about veggies, grains, and fruit though-- REAL food > stuff in packages.

I get this one from the odd white bigot who thinks all white people are bigots. They look at me and assume it's okay to talk trash about other groups. No, my being white doesn't mean I'll agree with you. Yes, I will be offended.

Exactly. It is understandable to resent a group that historically hasnt been kind to yours. But generalising and being hateful just means that you are as bad as other bigots. I was told recently how "I am not really white, I am just brainwashed and how whites are all dumb cavemen". My partner used to work with a young man that openly says things like "white women are ok to f**k but you need to anrry a black girl to keep the race pure ". There are bigots everywhere.

Another stereotype is that white people cannot be discriminated. I have been told in person and online that as a white woman I cant be discriminated. I think that this comes mostly from people from USA that is unaware of dinamics in other countries. But here in europe some of the most hated groups are east europeans (that are as white as you can be). Racism is a big issue in europe but also xenophobia (and that includes hate against white migrants). As a white migrant (spanish) I have been yelled at and threatened by public employees, refused service, refused medical attention and in general told that I was not good and should go back home. Once I put an official complaint about a public employee who yelled at me for being foreigner, took my ID away and didnt want to give it back until somebody intervened. I was told my the discrimination office that only discrimination for "race, religion or sex" is valid so since I am white they wouldnt help me.

I don’t mind that some people think this. I think prejudice is a natural part of being alive and we all engage in it whether we are willing to admit it or not. Good that you try hard to be anti-racist and inclusive, and so do I, but it doesn’t make me angry that people prejudge me… it gives me a deeper understanding of the kind of prejudice that other people are experiencing too.

"Paganism is Satanism" and "Pagans cannot be Christians". Where do I start on this one? First, Pagan is a blanket term that includes different types of spiritual and nature-based religions. Some old, some created fairly recent. Satanism doesn't not fall under Paganism. Pagans don't worship a devil. Satan or Lucifer, whatever you want to call that kind of evil character, belongs in the Christian/Catholic religion. Just because another religion has a horned God, doesn't mean it holds the same meaning as a devil. Pentagrams are 5 pointed stars, and are called pentacles when a ring is added. In Paganism, this is a powerful, positive, protective symbol. In Satanism they use it upside down. Just like the upside down cross is used in Satanism. I could be wrong on this, it seems that Satanists flip religious to mock them. Many Christian customs have come from Pagan and Druid customs, such as the Christmas tree, the use of green and yellow for traditional Christmas colours, Easter, New Years Day, Valentines Day, believing the soul is immortal, Halloween, weddings (where do you think the term "hand-fasting" comes from or "jump the broom"?), halos over the heads of angels and saints, etc. Pagans have a lot more in common with Christians than Christians like to think. There are Pagans who still hold on to Christian beliefs. Some call it "Christo-paganism" "Pagans sacrifice animals and play with black magic". Just like with any denomination, there are going to be people who use religion for ill-will and use customs incorrectly because they saw a movie and thought it was cool. Pagans not only respect and love animals, there are many who are vegetarians and vegans. Since Pagans are quite spiritual and some do, what is referred to as "Magick", it's not the hocus pocus kind. We're not really illusionists, magicians nor are we scamming fortune tellers. Although, there are individuals who do this stuff on their own, but they are the exceptions, and we don't consider those people real Pagans. As I said, there are bad apples in every sect and denomination. "Pagans are witches". This is where Wicca comes into play. Paganism is the spiritual worship of Earth, and Wicca practices rituals, that includes some "spells", but it's not the same as you've read in fairy tales. All it involves is mixing things to make something. A simple kitchen recipe for bread can be considered "magick", or sweeping a room can become a form of a cleansing ritual to rid a space of negative energy. "Pagans dance in forests and fields naked". This is more optional to the brave folk than a mandatory thing. Since the world has become way more populated, there are cameras around at any time and place. Lastly, not all Pagans are practicing rituals and ceremonies. Some are content to just go about living a life doing what they want without fussing about, and just hold their beliefs to heart.

ALL. OF. THIS!!! I'm Wiccan and can attest most of this is true (there are one or two teeny inaccuracies I'm too tired to debate right now), and I get so tired of hearing that I'm a "devil-worshipper" and other stupid s**t. Christianity's "Holy Trinity" (The Holy Spirit and the other two I can't remember right now) derives directly from the pagan concept of Maiden, Mother, Crone/Hunter, Father, Sage, which is the three feminine/masculine stages of life. Christmas is an evolution of Saturnalia/Yuletide (and was once considered un-Christian!), Easter is based on Ostara which is a celebration of fertility and new life (what do eggs and rabbits have to do with some guy being resurrected? Nothing, but they have everything to do with getting freaky). And the difference between spells and prayers is practically nonexistent, except you might do more than just close your hands and speak for a spell--but regardless the intent is the same, beseeching a higher power to aid you.

I agree with most but: Satanism is under the Pagan umbrella. Witches are Pagan but not all Witches are Wiccan. Much of your post is based on Wicca as the base definition as Pagan but Pagan includes many paths that are quite different from Wicca (Heathen/Asatru, Hellenic, & Kemetic).

I'm hindu. We don't worship cows. We respect them for all they have provided for us. We show out respect by refraining from eating beef. I'm also West-Indian. We do not all spend the day in a floral shirt and cargo shorts, sleeping in a hammock, under a coconut tree on the beach. We have jobs like everyone else....we don't do that on the weekends. Lol

UK here. Wearing a 'hoodie'; they're comfortable, and keeps your head warm in winter. However, wearing a hoodie automatically labels you as a troublemaker, thief etc. I've no criminal record and am hard-wired to help another human being. E.G. Someone once parked up their car, left it unlocked to quickly post a letter, then spotted me wearing a hoodie and instantly went back to lock his car. I responded with a wry smile.

Old person here and evidently the only one. Everyone assumes we can't figure out computers or phones (I have used at least 25 different software programs in my work alone) and want to listen to the Eagles and Jimmy Buffet all day. I would die happy never having to hear Hotel California AGAIN. Millennial co-workers were shocked I had System of a Down song as a ringtone. Also, that we are all rich living off our social security, in our paid-for houses. I know because I used to think that too. SS might be enough to pay JUST your rent, and Medicare is the most expensive insurance I ever had. And I have not been able to get a real job, not even an interview, for over 15 years because of all the stereotypes against us, despite having 2 graduate degrees. When a job says "2-5 years experience", that 5 is a genuine MAXIMUM.

I'm disabled now due to chronic illnesses, but I'm very fortunate to receive enough benefit to live comfortably, and of course I have free healthcare. I would love to be able to work again but that ship sailed and sank 3 years ago. Got a burn-out some years ago and lost my job. I was told I would never get another job at my age. My pension was just enough to live from so I bailed out of 'normal' life. I aim to live a low-footprint life anyway. Luckily I live in Europe, so universal healthcare... I hate Hotel California, so my to go music is more in the line of the Prodigy, hard style, Nightwish, Rammstein, punk (yeah, never was a hippy). And Chopin and buddhist mantras ;)

Is Medicare insurance really that expensive? I am not that far away from needing and have no idea how it works, so I better start educating myself. I just assumed it was there when you needed it since I have been paying in since I was 16. But I am guessing from your post that I will cause a few injuries from people literally rolling on the floor laughing at my nativity that "it will be there when you need it because you paid in for all those years". But what am I missing? Do you actually need to buy an expensive Medicare health insurance policy to get coverage? I am in trouble, aren't I?

    Crissy Brandt

No, not necessarily expensive. You have the option of getting “straight” Medicare or Medicare advantage plans with an insurance company which depend on what state/county you live in. Don’t freak out or get overwhelmed. It does take a little research. United health care and Humana are huge Medicare advantage companies, they might be a good place to start to get some info.

Im lots of different things at once i think they all have stereotypes?? im a goth but i definately dont hate everyone! Im not miserable or angry & am usually a very cheerful person. Im not evil or worship devils or cast evil spells or whatever 🤣 not a vampire but that would be cool lol, i just like spooky things, bats & dressing in a way that makes me feel happy & confident. im actually quite a religious person too, but i dont disagree with anyone from the LGBTQ+ community (which im part of) or people from other religions (which i love learning about) or people who dont have a religion, i am nice to everyone even people who are mean to me 🙂 i have autism/aspergers but im not a maths genius im rubbish at it & have a terrible memory 😅 i also have adhd but im not hyperactive/fidgety all the time, its more like my brain has trouble concentrating? i have dyslexia but i can read, just the paper looks very white & its hard to concetrate on the words so i have tinted reading glasses. im asexual & aromantic but i dont hate people, even though i dont really understand relationships im really happy for other people who are happy together no matter who they are 🙂 Dont know what the stereotypes for being non binary & vegan are but there probably are some???

I love this post! I'm a closet goth, I love the Victorian style and I loved dressing up. I don't anymore, life is very challenging for me right now. Pretty much everything you said sounds like me. I've always considered myself to be a heterosexual woman, but lately I've been questioning that; what I find attractive is not linked to gender but to personality/intelligence. The fact that I have, so far, only been in relationships with men has more to do with opportunity/social acceptance that anything else. I've always been drawn to people I connect with and I need to be bonded to them before any sexual attraction happens.

Stereotype: Women can't fix things like cars, plumbing problems, electrical problems, a leaky roof, etc, ad nausea. I was w working automobile repair technician for 35 years, fixed everything from go carts to Cadillacs, did all the repairs on my various homes over the years, kept my family in good transportation, drew up the plans and built 4 homes all the while holding down a job in a shop. NOPE, us chickens can't do squat I reckon...

I went to high school in Houston, Texas. To say we were a little behind the times as far as progressive education goes is a definite understatement. I was told I couldn't take shop, mechanics or wood. Home economics was it. I already knew how to cook, clean and sew. What did I need that for. It turned into a glorified study hall for me where I sat and finished any homework I might have.

You are awesome! As a woman I've always been capable of doing "man" things; I have built enough flat pack furniture on my own to work for IKEA, changed tyres, figured out how things work and how to fix them. I've always been a problem solver, I never give up, and I love how my mind works. Having Asperger's Syndrome helps! My daughter has it too, and is studying Mechanical engineering, I'm so proud of her!

That's one thing that was nice about the automobile repair industry, most mechanics are paid commission or flat rate. So you have to do the work fast AND right or else you do it the second time for free. I''d had to quit a couple of jobs because they wouldn't pay me the same as some of the men, but once I'd established myself as a good tech, reliable with a very low come back rate I never had a problem getting paid the same. My reputation was a good one, I was known over several states at the time I retired. I still occasionally get called for consultations from some of my old buddies since I had specialized in driveability and computer diagnostics in Nissans and Toyotas. And if I wanted to I could still be working at my garage at home or in any shop in town. But the knees won't let me anymore....

For a period of time, I identified as gay (later learned I wasn't) and I happen to be a transgender man. Some people thought that just meant I was straight. In reality, being a gay transgender man or lesbian transgender woman just means they're transitioning to their correct gender, and happen to like people of that gender. I'm also neurodivergent in a few ways - some of my neurological disorders include Asperger's, ADHD, and possible CPTSD. ADHD isn't just "trouble sitting still and getting easily distracted", in fact, it is very possible to focus intensely on something if you have ADHD (it just may not be the thing you want to focus on!) Misconceptions about autism... oh boy, we could be here all day. Pretty much any stereotype about autism is false, but one thing I can say in particular is that not every autistic person is the same. What works for one person may not work for another. And about (C)PTSD, well... not just veterans can get it. I've seen people say that they have (C)PTSD or may have it, and getting responses saying that they're seeking attention or claiming to have it because of a small, unpleasant experience. Hell, the reason I may have it is because of being bullied and harassed by essentially my entire school for nearly a whole year, and every adult around doing absolutely nothing about it.

My mom has PTSD. She grew up in London during WWII. She remembers sleeping in the subways and hearing bombs go off overhead. She said that prayer "Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep, if I die before I wake...") Hearing prop planes go over bothers her now. Seeing anywhere get bombed on the news bothers her. She and siblings were sent out to live in the countryside during the war. She left at 6 and returned at 16. She went to work in a three story dept store. It got bombed and she woke up to see daylight overhead. She was working on the first floor. So yes, she has PTSD.

I'm Catholic. Not all Catholics are the kind who pick and choose what to believe, or the kind who think not everybody can be saved. Every time I turn around I get hate for saying what I believe to be true. Oh yes, I'm Catholic, so I must hate everyone who isn't straight, believe all atheists automatically go to Hell, and ignore everything the Bible says about loving your neighbor and all that stuff. Sure.

Takes a while to shove off that miserable past from our shoulders from people who just totally didn't get what Jesus wanted but used his name to destroy people, whole nations and cultures. Love is what its all about! I may disagree with your view, I tell you what my perspective is, but respect and value you as a human being. "For those blessed with the cross of homosexuality, a religious vocation may be the best choice. However, for those with deep-seated homosexual tendencies, it is sometimes better to remain single, for the protection of their souls." Paraphrased slightly from and article I was reading a week or so ago. According to that or a similar article, homosexuality is a gift, a cross imposed so that we may become stronger in our spiritual life. Same with doubts about God's existence (I was researching that too, I had a mental breakdown and started doubting).

What about slavery, blood sacrifice (Jephthah), mass murder, blatant misogyny? The bible is old ànd new testament. Without the old testament, there is no original sin and no reaon for anybody to die on a cross. I have e feeling that you do pick and choose what you like in the bible.

Lutheran here. I'm really tired of having to explain that Christians don't all hate gays, support Trump, oppose reproductive choice - basically, that we're not all Southern Baptists. I also don't think Christianity is the only right way to have a relationship with God - just that it's the right way for me.

How can you say that you are a christian and yet claim that there are other right ways to have a relationship with God than Christianity? Jesus said that He is the only way to get to the Father. That is the basis of Christianity and if you really think there are other ways to get saved than through Jesus Christ then I'm afraid I have to tell you that you might not be a true christian.

German food is the bomb! I have an authentic German Deli/Restaurant run by a charming husband and wife team within walking distance from my apartment. Let me tell you, I could eat German sausage, bread, butter, and mustard for every meal, every day. But in the USA we are definitely socialized to associate the German language with evil in television and movies. British accents command respect, French accents are romantic, and German accents are evil. I also think that Hollywood is only comfortable with portraying Nazis as evil. There is no ambiguity to the "Nazis are evil" trope. Whereas the film and television industry seem to be afraid to offend any other group as being evil. Muslims and Arabs for example, they (rightfully) will rarely portray them as evil or terrorists for fear of being offensive. But they release dozens of WWII movies each year with the good guys defeating the evil Nazis, and rarely are Germans, even the large portion of the population that was anti-Nazi, portrayed in a positive light.

Sikhs are Muslims because they wear turbans. If you see a man walking around with a turban on his head, and sporting an unshaved beard, this does not mean they are Muslims. In fact, Muslim men are not required too wear a turban or a head covering, some choose too because it is part of their culture in the middle east. They are, however, prohibited from shaving their facial hair. Sikh men cannot shave their facial hair as well, but they are required too wear a turban. This may not seem like much, but a Sikh man's turban is a matter of pride. The Guru Granth Sahib Ji teaches that the turban is a crown, and it is a huge part of a Sikh's identity. Sikhi and Islam are very different religions; please try not too confuse one for the other. (Of course, Sikh's can choose not too wear a turban or cut/shave their hair, but technically, it is mandatory)

There have been instances here in the US of violent hate crimes against Sikh men or Gurdwaras perpetrated by bigots who thought they were Muslim. Bad enough that they're hatefully bigoted against Muslims, then they compound it by not even understanding who they're attacking.

No. Sikh men started wearing turbans in the 1699. This was during the war with Mughals. Islam was their religion, and they were trying too convert all of india too Islam, but Mughals cannot be confused with Muslims; Mughals are also long gone now. The turban was worn too tell Indians, regardless of your race, your culture, we will protect you from the Mughals. We are not against Islam. If anything, we are with Islam. Islam is a beautiful religion. We wear it now as a matter of pride, and to signal that we will protect you from oppression no matter your gender, sexuality, race or culture.

If you want ten different definitions of "Christian," ask ten Christians. Lots of churches are progressive in that they support the LGBTQ community, women's reproductive rights, etc.

The word "Christian" shouldn't be defined by the support for LGBTQ, reproductive rights, etc. It should be defined by the relationship to Christ and trying to live by His example. If they see the LGBTQ people only as sinners not worthy for the love of Christ they haven't taken a good look at themselves in the mirror. If they don't think Christ died for every single human on this Earth no strings attached they should think twice before they put Christ's name on.

He reached out sinners but also called out pharisees. He was against hypocrites and those who claimed to be without sin. It is true that He didn't hate anyone or shut anyone out. He healed people and forgave their sins but He also said that people should not continue to sin.

From the South, Atlanta, GA. W/F, gentle Southern lilt. I’ve learned that the lilt drops my IQ in business communication. And, given my Southern roots, OBVIOUSLY I am racist, privileged, Trump tootin’ RINO. Also mental illness, esp depression. It’s a mood disorder, but it doesn’t strip my natural human emotions. Even people with depression have bad days, get pissed at work, etc. And it doesn’t strip my reason or agency. People interact differently if/when my heritage or health comes up. Nothing changes but information. How progressive, no? Bless their prejudiced hearts 😇

Ever listen to or seen the face of someone from south Philly or Newark, NJ talk when they get excited? And they called ME stupid because of MY accent? They should look in the mirror and listen to themselves.

I'm a nihilist. It's not a religion, but it's what substitutes my need for religion. A common stereotype is that a nihilist loves pointlessness, absurdity, negativity, relativity, etc., while I think nihilism is just an observable historical phenomenon that a nihilist tries to accept in an attempt to suffer less from it.

Ooh, where to start? Well, first I have learning disabilities, so apparently I'm stupid, I'm a girl so apparently, I can't fight back, WTH? And I need to add a whole paragraph about Asperger's (autism) stereotypes. No, we are not all super-geniuses who are building time machines, I barely understand maths. None of this true for all Aspies and autistics, but personally I get flustered easily, I cry when I get overwhelmed, I don't at all have good social skills, hate talking to new people and hate being touched anywhere, even on my arm, without permission. It sucks that there are really bad representations of Autism and Asperger's Syndrome in the media, and there needs to be a better understanding of neurodivergent because it really isn't easy.

Look at the mongol invasions of Europe a long time ago. They stayed 50 years. Raped all the women they could, killed all the men. Left many dark haired, brown eyed children in their wake. They were mostly in Spain and Italy. There were many fair skinned blond Spanish before and Italians also. Still are if you take the time to look. Tell tale sign can be the birth bruises on babies bottoms that disappear after birth. Also tracing your DNA to see.

This is pure bullshit. The mongolians never conquered Spain not we are brown haired because of them. What are you smoking? Spain had originally a mixture of celt and mediterranean people (the difference still can be seen today). We had a lot of extra mediterranean influence (Cartago, Greece, Rome) that made the east and southern spaniards (and portuguese) tan (even tought we peobably were tan before). Then with the fall of the roman empire many germanic tribes invaded europe including Spain (giving us a higher % of pale and blond people). At the same time moroccan and bereber people invaded the south and created AlAndalus, giving more "darker" features again to south and easter spain. That without talking about other groups like vikings or jewish that also gave a considerable ammount of dna to the spanish population. We are a country based on etnical mix but definitely not mongolian.

Surely I told 5 people and only 1 of them agrees with and be helpful. Just like autism, ADHD also have sensory issues. My guess is that in my country because of the common beliefs about human personalities it is very unusual to talk about such disorders. People even consider it as disease. Finally I had to find out about ADHD for myself and stopped such behaviours like an ass hole, a thief. I wish people had stopped caring so much about others' money and ages, appearance. In my environment seems like there are only males and females, the tall and the short, the beauty and the ugly, learners and idiots,... it is just too common and helpless at all.

So I do ballet and Im a guy. The most annoying thing is that people automatically assume that since I do ballet I'm gay. Now I am but most professional male ballet dancers aren't. I like to think that I'm good at it but when people don't respect me because I dance it pisses me off. Another thing is when people say that dance isn't a sport, or that only competitive dance is a sport. It is vary vigorous training and i would like to say harder than a lot of sports because you have to make it look easy. I wrote a report about my favorite sport in 4th grade and I failed because the teacher didn't agree with me. So please be considerate because not only is it hard to do ballet, Its hard to do it as a guy with so many stereotypes and having to push through them.

People from outside the province wonder if we have electricity or indoor plumbing. Yes we do. AC too. Schools, stores, paved roads, hospitals. So, we homeschooled for my kids' entire education, kindergarten through graduation. I figure that people think that they were brilliant, super-awkward, unsocialized, hyper-religious, cup-stacking, spelling bee champs. Oh, and that I wear denim jumpers and a head scarf! In reality, both of them were of normal intelligence and awkwardness (LOL!) and very social. We did go to church but they've never stacked a cup in their lives, nor did we enter any spelling bees. Really, they turned out pretty normal! I mean, at 18 and 21, they both have numerous tattoos - I think my daughter has 17, at last count, as well as two facial piercings - but that's normal in MY book! (And I haven't worn a denim jumper since the mid-90's when THAT was normal!)

My thought exactly! LOL! Actually, it's a competitive thing where you stack and unstack cups in some type of pyramid and see who is fastest. Almost every curriculum catalog I ever looked at had sets that you could buy, complete with timer!

Too often people believe that atheists believe in nothing. Atheists simply don’t believe that there is a god, or gods, or supernatural powers. Atheism means “without god,” not “without a belief system of any kind.” Most atheists that I know, and I know a great deal of them, are humanists, and they believe with great conviction in being good and kind and ethical. They do right not because of the thought a mystical consequence or reward after death or in another life, but because this life and each other are all we have.

That is one of the best ways I've ever heard an atheist describe themselves. And you are right, about most atheists being good humans who care and do the right thing. It's unfortunate how some people love to slap labels on everyone. I wonder if they think they are immune to labels themselves?

    1) I’ve seen quite a few times that people think asexual people are broken. 2) “Lesbians just haven’t found the right man.” 3) “Gay men just haven’t found the right woman.” 4) “Aromantic people just haven’t found the right person.” 5) “Bisexuals need to chose” 6) “Bisexual and pansexual are the same thing” 7) “nonbinary means you’re an object” 8) “cheerleading isn’t a real sport” 9) “cheer, gymnastics and dance are easy” 10) “ADHD is only in boys” 11) “you can only have tics if you have Tourettes” 12) “anxiety is just being shy, you just need to be pushed out of your comfort zone” These are just a few I thought of on the spot.

(I was thinking, b*tch, please. Stress is only part of it. Anxiety as a whole is very irrational. Anything can be a trigger. It's not a stupid trigger, nor should anyone be made to feel like crap for it. It is also not weakness.

Annoyingly enough, the ADHD/Autism duo are heavily underdiagnosed in women because for various reasons they tend to be (but are by no means all) more neurotypical-passing. Or alternatively, because the big people decide the freaking-out girl child is just hysterical. Idiots is a polite way to put it.

People with depression just have to pull themselves up by their bootstraps. Smile. Go for a walk. You'll feel better. You're just lazy, making this up to get out of stuff. Have a good talk with yourself, suck it up. Get your $h!+ together. So many more. Those things can possibly help. But we need people around who will basically drag us out. We're unbelievably physically exhausted and sometimes are afraid to go out. "Smile"? I usually have to restrain myself from punching them. Instead I tell them I had to put my dog to sleep yesterday. They'll walk away. Pulling yourself up by your bootstraps is physically impossible. Unfortunately during this covid disaster so many people are now all too familiar with depression. Especially teenagers. It makes me so sad.

For clarification: Bisexual/biromantic is liking TWO OR MORE genders, with preference (it's also the umbrella term for liking more than one gender). Pansexual/panromantic is liking all genders without preference. Omnisexual/omniromantic is liking all genders with preference. Yes, they are similar. They aren't all the same, though! (Aroace Tiger, Issac, and Chaotic-Pansexual all did a good job explaining this ^^)

Hope it’s ok to add this one - I am Vegan - for nearly 5 years. In general vegans are not hippies, sandal wearing people who just eat lentils!!! I/we are just normal people who choose for various reasons not to eat any animal products. For me my eyes were opened nearly 5 years ago at the practices in the dairy and egg industry. My body and mind instantly went - I cannot be any part of this - and I haven’t wanted or had anything non vegan foods from that moment on. We do not generally preach to people, always happy to have a discussion about it. And whilst some may, we don’t generally announce it like a public announcement!!!!! People can find us a threat, probably because it can make them question their own values and choices. And the most asked question - ‘but bacon!!!!’ To us all we see is a pig that was killed just so you can have a sandwich. Thank you for reading this. Xxx

Autism... I have good social skills: yeah, that's because I spent 30 years to LEARN it. I look "normal": yeah, that's called MASKING. Changes induce a lot of anxiety. That's not because you don't see it that it doesn't exist. No, it's not "like you". Yeah, we experience similar things, but pretty sure, if you're neurotypical, we don't feel that in the same way. A lot of things are disturbing for neurotypical, but really intrusive for autistic people. And all the above (and all the rest) is DRAINING.

Once new a guy in Hell's Angels. His dad had been high up and had the massive biker funeral. This guy was really great. Now that he'd been clean for years. Not so nice before. But a good friend you can count on. Where we were, he stuck with the 3 of us to be with because no, he didn't like the others. The "Odd Quartet". Years later The Banditos were staking out our town to move into. Huge line up of bikes. They were sitting on the patio of a restaurant. I was going into a store when I caught 2 teenagers just reaching out to touch a bike. I warned them big time DON'T DO IT. When in the store everyone was freaked. What do we do if they come in? I told them they would be shopping like anyone else looking for an item and if they bring it to the counter say all the normal stuff. They're not coming in here to kill you.

Atheist. It is not a religious point. It's a default position to a claim made that a god exists and it gets twisted when someone distorts or misunderstands the burden of proof. It is also NOT a claim itself that a god doesn't exist, merely that there is not sufficient reason to believe that one does.

I'm asexual, I hear a lot of ' You're just saying that because you can't get f*cked' or 'I can turn you'. Also, I'm AFAB, which means I hear a lot of wrong pronouns or my deadname, along with "How are you doing, pretty girl?" or "Excuse me, miss." I know that's not a stereotype, but I needed to get it of my chest.

Religion: Christianity- the stereotype that all Christians are hateful, homophobic bigots. I call myself Christian because I believe in God, but I don’t follow catholic beliefs, so that’s where I fall and Is how I was raised. But we aren’t all awful people, I promise. My sexuality- pansexual: there’s a mild stereotype that pans are all innocent always-happy, basically the cotton balls of the community. Not particularly bothersome, but also not particularly true My race: I’m mixed, Puerto Rican and white and my skin tone is slightly lighter than you’d typically find of a Mexican person and my hair type is giant curly. A lot of people assume I speak Spanish and that my family is full of Hispanic traditions and heritage. All of the family I live with is white and I always feel incredibly awkward when people assume things based on my appearance.

I can't believe it's not here yet but... as a feminist I don't hate men... and I don't blame men for all my problems... I actually like men very much, romantically, sexually and otherwise, my closest friends since my childhood have always been boys, I had been even bullied for that because "girls are supposed to play with girls"... and no, I don't drop my feminism "as soon as the bill arrives", I am happy to pay for myself, take care of myself and provide for myself... I have no problem to pay for my date either, actually my bf is still at university and I am ready to support him financially whenever he needs it... usually on our vacation it's me who pays for the hotels (and then I let him pay for something smaller like dinner)

Hi. I'm an evangelist Christian. From what I've heard, people think that Christians--specifically evangelists--have lots of bigoted and misogynistic opinions that they like to force onto other people. I know there are tons of mega churches that only exist for the money and that there are lots of stories on Bored Panda about "Christian" bigots that are racist, homophobic Trump supporters. But I'd like to say that it's all untrue. As an evagelist with an evangelist family, we do not think that men are superior or that one race of people is of less value than another. We go to a small church that's going through so many finacial problems right now, and yet they still rarely ask for donations. My mom actually works for our church and she knows that more than 90% of the money that's ever donated goes to charities. In fact, our church TELLS its donors where all of the money goes before they donate, so not all churches are mega/super churches that're only in it for the cash and ask for massive donations, as well as guilt trip the church-goers to give money because it's "for a greater cause" and "because it's the Christianly/godly thing to do". All those stories about bigots that are so-called Christians aren't truly Christian. They just use the label for clout, really. I know too many people who say they're Christian but never go to church and do absoultely none of the practices. So, to conclude the wall of text I built (sorry about that lol), please don't automatically think that all Christians, especially evangelists because I've noticed that we're getting quite a bit of hate as of recent times, are not misogynistic bigots just because of things you read online or even experiences you've had that are similar to the ones you might have read on social media. True Christians who actually have Christian beliefs aren't like that at all and would never even think about doing things like that. Thanks for reading, I really appreciate it.

i totally feel that post friend. most of evangelism bashers have only clichés, and have absolutely no clue of what the Bible is about. the true real christian will never ever judge you. and respect others opininons by staying silent when he disapproves. the real christian will never ever say you'll die in hell because you're gay. i'm sad for these internet button pushers actually

The point is that you need to be discerning between people who claim to be Christians and just go through the motions, and people who are actually living the faith out in their daily lives. You won't see many of the latter on social media or on the news. So the answer to your question is that for the people who are *actually* Bible believing Christians, yes. But there are many, MANY people who will claim to be Christians who are not. There is too much money and power in it, so be very skeptical when you see people in power making a point of flaunting their faith. Watch their actions and see if they match up.

I logged in just to comment on this post, I'm usually a lurker. I am in no way, shape or form a Christian but I agree that you are absolutely correct. My fiance's family is SUPER Catholic, his mom has dedicated most of her life to their church and his dad helps out with repairs to the building and carpentry and auto issues for members of the congregation whenever he can. They are both in their 70s. And they are the nicest people ever. They have totally accepted my heavily pierced, heavily tattooed, mohawked, very alternative self from the very beginning, because I make their very conservative looking, doesn't have a single tattoo on his body, son happy. I respect them and they respect me, because treating other people as you'd like to be treated is the basis of all major religions and faiths. And true Christians get that, just like all of us that aren't.

I am barely catholic anymore but I was raised in the church and tbh I don't have an issue with it. I've always wondered why people believe that Catholics worship Mary ( mother of Jesus) I went through 12 yrs of catholic education and never once was told we worshiped her.

It's not out right said but we give thanks, ceremony, and creeds to Mary. We pray Hail Mary, we also do wedding ceremonies with Mary. It is said in Canon to pray to Mary to speak to God on our behalf....I mean if that's not worshipping I don't know what is.

i guess it depends on the church and school. at my school (a catholic school) we were taught most about mary and joseph more than we were jesus, but most people saw the stories of the bible as more like tales, having lessons behind them, meanings, not full true. we went church and every march and october we had rosary which cantered around mary and the journey of hers stated in the bible of becoming the mother of jesus. my school looked up to mary and joseph more than we did god and jesus tbh. we looked up to some saints more but we were also taught the things they did that would be considered wrong. we believed god and jesus exist but the stories of the bible were more lessons. i recently left the faith though and am a buddhist now.

Colombian here. Where do I start... 1. I DON'T know how to dance, and I hate it. Never liked it, never will. For some reason i'm a fairly decent bass player though. 2. I'm an atheist, and with good reason, and being an academic helped. Most people in my family are believers, but I blatantly tell them I do not share their beliefs when asked about the whole matter, no matter how judgemental they can get. 3. Colombians, as well as many latinos, come in almost all colors, shapes, sizes and backgrounds. From what people consider the stereotype fo what latinos look like, to those who are tall, blonde and blue or green-eyed, and those with African roots, and others who keep their native American (as in the continent) looks untouched. But mostly, we are a mixed "race", and in my case I look as if I were of middle east descent. 4. Colombia isn't all tropical! We have all climatic conditions, from beaches and deserts, to rainforests and snow-capped mountains, and many regions are relatively cold all year long. Also, because of its location on the globe, Colombia has no seasons, but rather a time in which rain is more frequent. 5. Sounding "latino" when speaking in English. I was born and raised in Colombia, I've lived in Mexico for almost ten years, and yet I do not sound "latino" (with a Spanish accent) when I speak in English. Amongst many things I've taught English is one of them, so I guess that's helped quite a bit. 6. No, I don't do (illegal) drugs, nor sell them. I've never even bought weed, and I don't know any dealers. 7. For some reason my famly wasn't so much into doing the typical local stuff, and to this day we are somehow atypical. This is an advantage, but also a curse, depending on how you approach being atypical. 8 I do love coffee though :)

Yes we do. Especially out west. But we can do some pretty hilarious poking fun at ourselves. Closing Ceremony of the Vancouver Winter Olympics was one big poking fun at ourselves with stereotypes. Polar bears, Voyageurs, dancing Mounties behind Michael Buble when he was singing. All pretty hilarious.

(my whole family actually likes hockey so it makes sense we get on with him.) he doesn’t say oot he says out although it has that slight touch of the o sound. likes it’s in between how it says it but it’s closer to out than oot.

And finally, we have electricity, we all don't live on the beach in grass huts wearing coconut shell bras, and yes, we are the only state in the US that has an official palace. i don’t have like a confirmed schizophrenia diagnosis but i definitely hallucinate and have extreme paranoia. when in the car if someone’s trailing behind us bc maybe we go to same shops, i immediately “oh dear they’re stalking” i can’t walk in my own house at night or even during the day often without constantly looking over my shoulder bc i believe someone’s in the house. like i check like the whole house before i go to the toilet in the middle of the night and even then i’m as quiet as possibly bc of fear someone’s in the house. nobody is. nobody can get in. we have roller shutters on every window. i often have auditory hallucinations and they aren’t telling me to kill, they just say “hi!” or distorted speech or i’ll just hear a cup being placed on the table or whistling or a car going past my ear. i’m not going to run out on the street going on a murderous rampage! i’m terrified of going out on the street alone and the thought of murder makes me sent to scream and cry it scares me

I think this perception is a hangover from times gone by when there really wasn't anything they could do for schizophrenia and symptoms ran unabated. The horror show that was the 'treatments' didn't help the image either. I think the image is changing, albeit sadly slower than it should.

An they are the reason Hadrian's wall was built. The only people the Romans could not conquer. The wall was built to keep the Picts from raiding the Roman settlements along that area. They lived in the Highlands then. I can trace my family back to the mid 1400's in Edinburgh. They were in the Highlands before that.

I dont know if that counts but it's a stereotype about the german nationality. First of all we're not all nazis or radical right. In fact, only a tiny fraction is extremist. And the second one that is really incorrect is that we don't laugh or don't have humor. We do have humor! (most of us)

We have humour, and we have engineering - and, tbh, the "overengineering" is totally bogus. We don't do that. Italians do, sometimes, and call it "Bella Macchina" instead, which, generally, lets a more positive approach towards technology shine through. One that isn't ashamed of enjoying the results.

Christian here, and let me get these straight 1. Not all Christians are true Christians (They think they are better than those they look down on, and Only use the Christian title as a merit badge) 2. Not all Christians hate other people for their beliefs (The exact opposite is true actually, I am friends with some LGBT people and I treat them like a normal human that deserves respect and kindness) 3. I don’t like how the media shows us. We aren’t all stuck up, we don’t

A conservator-restorer of historical pieces and artworks here. The general misconception about my profession is that we are just artists, and the truth is we are so much more. Conservation and restoration is in fact a multidisciplinary approach that unifies natural sciences, technology, human and animal anatomy, history, art history, craftmanship and art for every given material humans have ever worked with.

Ex-Professional Footballer - We are NOT all millionaires. Some pros make less than those in the semi-pro leagues and can often find it hard to get a mortgage. It's only the top 5% or so that make BIG money and most footballers have to get a job when they retire from the game. I know a guy that played many times in the English Premier League who delivers for DHL now. Footballers have resorted to selling the medals they won when they fall on hard times. - We are NOT all stupid. We represent a cross-section of society and our intellect reflects that. It's always the idiots who make the papers though. Nobody wants to read about a player having an engaging conversation on the fall of the Russian empire. Watching some muppet cavorting naked with a stripper whilst high on more than just life seems to sell better. It's also worth noting that a footballer makes hundreds of calculations every time he plays the ball; wind speed and direction, incoming trajectory and speed of the ball, spin and dip, the location of the opposition, the distance to the target, the relative angle of the target, the motion of the player receiving the ball, projected position of the opposition at the time the ball reaches its target and more. - Footballers are NOT overpaid. Ok, some may be earning daft money. That's the top 5% again. Most players are on 1-3 year contracts meaning that: - if they don't get in the team - bye-bye. - if they get injured - bye-bye. - if they lose form or fitness - bye-bye. With the exception of loss of fitness those pitfalls are unavoidable if they happen to you. 'Bye-bye' could mean a transfer to the other side of the world or it could simply mean that you are out of work. That is a huge amount of pressure to be under if you have a young family and a mortgage to pay. Finally, a footballer's career lasts on average 15 years. Only the very fortunate avoid serious injury and play well into their thirties. Usually, as a player gets older the top level teams will see him as 'sub-prime' and pass him on to a lower level team. It's at this point that the ignominious slide down the leagues into the semi-professional game and eventually out of work begins. Top flight = top wages. The lower you go, the lower the pay. Except a strange thing happens when you reach a certain level. If you drop down from pro (full-time) to semi-pro (part-time) you can earn more for less work if you choose the right club. Pro clubs have huge overheads but because non-league clubs do not maintain a full-time staff, their overheads are lower and they can afford to pay the playing staff more. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have and thanks for reading! -

As someone who awas more in scuence and not sports: DO IT. Just find something that sticks: yoga, dancing, skating, cycling, Athletics, etc. LIFE WOULD'VE BEEN AN EASY MODE in my 20'ies if i'd had been not overweight. Current generation has less fat phobia, but looking for fitting clothes is annoying , lack of confidence is annoying, and most importantly, i became too stationary to do anything. So, TL;DR find activity of sports you like to simply form good and healthy habits in the early stage of your life.

    - A star with a circle around it (pentacle) is NOT a 'devil' or evil sign, it is a symbol of protection. - Pagans, as a whole, do not practice 'ritual sacrifice' on humans, ever. Some paths spill animal blood, some people use their own blood (pinprick on a finger), but NEVER killing another human being. Even the animal blood is rare since many Pagan paths revere/worship nature. - Witches/Pagans do not worship Satan like Christians claim. Satan is a Christian concept only relevant in Christian beliefs, therefore, Witches/Pagans do not believe in the concept of Satan, let alone worship/marry/serve/copulate with it. The exception is Satanists that recognizes Satan as Christians know but he serves more as a role model for self-actualization. - Modern Pagan practices are revivals or recreation of pre-Christian religions/beliefs

The revival started largely in the 1960's when Gerald Gardner began teaching Wicca. He based it on what he learned in the U.K. by Witches and Druids that still practiced ancient beliefs. The other revivals already had historical reference like ancient Egyptian (Kemetic), Norse mythology (Heathen), and Greek mythology.

Mormon here. Yes we dance, yes we drink caffeine (just not drinks with tannins) no we don't practice polygamy anymore (seriously it's been over 100 years). Our underwear isn't magic, but it does decrease panty lines. Yes we do rend to have a lot of kids, but we can use birth control if we want (abortions only under certain circumstances though.) We are not all Republicans (Libertarian here). The church doesn't actually run Utah. But will speak up about matters that affect freedom of religion. Otherwise they just say to study politics and participate. Yes, you may feel judged at church. Just remind people that God is your judge and what you're going through is between you and Jesus. Or at least give them a look that says the same. Our Temples are Highly sacred houses that we use to practice worship in that is so sacred and unique that we can't really explain it well to people who haven't really studied our religion. Which is why we dont talk about it. We can explain some things, and some temples have visitor centers you can go to. Fun fact though, if you find videos or scripts of our ceremonies, it's a copyright violation and they can be sued. (PS, I do not look typical Mormon, I wear modest clothes, but have daith piercings for migraines and often brightly colored hair. Yes, I get judged for this, I don't care and often use it as an excuse to challenge the judger.)

I agree with you on that, but again its just a generalisation on an overall faith and belief system, myself and many other Christians i know of would go above and beyond to help someone out, if perhaps its a situation that we can't physically help with (like medical and not a healthcare professional) all we can do is pray. I have seen people healed in front of my very eyes of sickness. I think this sort of grouping together a stereotype is why I posted my initial submission. Some people are like that, yes which can be patronising and false, but don't tar us all with the same brush. It's just as bad as judging someone on their skin color or perhaps different faith because of something that happe ed once to someone. I myself believe in being a practical Christian in doing what I can to help. Sometimes people don't want help simply 'because I'm a Christian' what can I do then? Just leave them to struggle alone? I'd be labelled a bad Christian then.... I truly with every fibre of my being believe and know that God can do miracles and intercede in situations if we pray and ask for it. Me having to prove myself to someone like this is pretty much the point of the initial post- I am being judged because of my faith...

As Christians we believe that God is in control of everything, when we pray to God we are asking for his help or intervention in a situation, so when someone says they'll pray for you, its a very kind thing. They're literally asking the God of this whole universe to help you out.

So I get this one A LOT. So there’s this stereotype with gay people (Or maybe just me I don’t know ), that you will like every single other gay person in existence. It’s really a problem because it’s really inconsiderate to the person, automatically assuming since they are gay, they are required to like every gay person on this planet.

This is definitely going to get lost in all the other answers, but here goes. I’ve heard a lot of stereotypes that atheists all are depressed goth kids who hate other religions. I’m actually a pretty cheerful person, and not believing in the afterlife/end of life reward helps me appreciate the everyday joys of life and to live as fully as possible, because (I believe that) you only live once. As for the hating other religions, I try to appreciate the lessons that they have to teach us without getting stuck on the afterlife/god(s). I like to think of other religions as metaphorical rather than physical. That’s just my beliefs, however, and everyone is entitled to worship how they please! :)

But the only reason you don’t “accept LGBTQ+” is based off something that isn’t true. The Bible, original Bible, does say anything about being gay is a sin. This has been disproven so many times, but the translated modern English version is all people want to see.

I'm South African and white. People from other countries assume all white people from here supported apartheid. Not only is that not true, but it's insulting not only to me and my parents, but to all the white anti-apartheid activists from back in the day. Also, I'm English-speaking, so I don't have an Afrikaans accent. (I sound more like Korg from Thor Ragnarok - and in fact, when I was visiting London, people thought I was from New Zealand!) We don't live in mud huts here, we don't have wild animals running in the streets (okay, a zebra ONCE!), we have more ATMS per 100,000 people than most other countries except large ones like Brazil, China and Russia, our people and fantastic and friendly, and we have great weather.

and the wild animals running in the streets, lemme tell you, people come to australia and visit big cities like perth, sydney, melbourne and go “where are all the kangaroos?” well first problem, you’re in the city, kangaroos don’t live there, second problem it’s just really uncommon to see kangaroos around really. however my town has kangaroos (very few however), long neck turtles, ducks, and even peacocks from the zoo about. kangaroos are the least spotted. we have cow crossings and duck and turtle crossing bc it’s more rural and we live like surrounded by a river. peacocks are only on this one but and very uncommon. they come from the zoo. you often seen kangas hanging about in the zoo car park or that road there. they just sit there. a jump about in one little spot. it’s very cut

yea for some reason aussies, kiwis and those from african, mainly south africa tho, have rather similar accents. like the only reason i can tell that someone is more likely to be from south africa than new zealand is how they pronounce certain letters. my math teacher, she’s from south africa and she pronounced certain letters and sounds differently but we don’t hear an accent. but then again i’ve noticed a lot of aussies don’t really notice accents just how things are pronounced. we only notice your accent if it’s thick or we have been informed of where you are from and what your accent is, then we can start to hear it.

Every single tired, overworked, unoriginal trope and micro-aggression directed towards Black women. For instance, people who don't know me from Adam's housecat, but assume "you're a strong black woman". If only they knew my background and experiences, they would probably get a clue about how fragile I really am, and what it is a struggle to show up in this life and simply breathe and be me without the bs. Or, because I am educated and well-spoken, some people feel so free to say "Oh, you're so well-spoken." This was especially the case when I worked in customer service and spoke to customers over the phone. Then, when they had to meet me in person, there was always a double-take - the facial expressions and reactions basically announcing that I did not look the way I sound, according to their limited mindset. Maybe I look like I should have been rolling my neck, snapping my fingers, and have loads of attitude. Oh, and when I go shopping - either being followed around a store because the assumption is that people who look like me steal, or being totally ignored because people who look like me don't really deserve the basic courtesy of being treated like a human being. Online shopping has been a lifesaver for me - true facts. Or, because I am married to a non-black person, I'm a weirdo, or I don't like myself. Those are just a few.

I'm a girl and I like the colour pink and wearing dresses/skirts, and everyone tells me that I'm not a feminist, and why am I submitting to the patriarchy and things like that. The stereotype that feminists can't like pink or wear dressy clothes is just really tiring sometimes.

I am from Bangalore, Karnataka, in South India. People have this wierd notion about us all being Madrasis, Madras (now Chennai) is a city in another state down south. We are simply clubbed together. They assume automatically that we speak with an odd accent, don't know proper English and Grammar. This goes for all the Northern states and people from other countries too. The truth being, we have better educational facilities here in the South, accent is something we have learnt at ground level education and our grammar is impeccable.

I am north indian, and I can attest too this. Many north indians lump all south indians together. Even when I see a person who looks south indian I automatically think madrasi. Of course, I am fixing that line of thought. My mother went too a school in the south, and your grammar is impeccable. I do not agree that you have better educational facilities; all sorts of new educational facilities with different ways of thinking are popping up all over india.

Or that I like school, study all my free time. I DO NOT! And I don't like school. I do read in my free time, but like not school books? Who does that?(I don't care if you do, it's just my reaction to it when people say that about me) Half a year ago, I skipped a year and here's the thing: I'm still good. Not that good, as I was before, but still considered good. Another problem: Everybody's talking about how COVID has affected *all* students, nobody learned a thing and we need to do school slower now. And sure, that is true, but in school, when I'm bored, I want to read a book or draw something. After I finished my work. But teachers told me both these things: (Before Covid): "No, you can't read a book, because it is distracting you from the lesson!" (After Covid/last year): "No, you can't draw right now, safe that for after the lesson!" Thanks for reading my rant about school!

"Being pan is the same as being bi" - no it isnt, if it was there wouldnt be 2 completely separate terms (: the prefix bi means 2 in the dictionary and when it comes to sexuality it means 2 or more, the prefix pan means all or everything in the dictionary (and dont get me started on the difference between omni and pan-) "If your genderfluid then your gender changes really drastically and its always the same ones" nahhh i wish it were that easy, 99% of the time idk what gender I am and most likely they/then pronouns are the way to go, but I do use he/him and some neopronouns sometimes as well "Polyamory is just a way to get away with cheating" oml no, polyamory is when its consentual with all of the included partners and cheating is when it is nonconsentual or not known. "81 percent is way too high, theres no way that many women have been harassed or worse" I might not identify as a woman but i am afab and for 12 years I did identify as a girl, and before those 12 years were up I was a part of that number and 99% of my friends were too. if anything 81 is too low. "If you havent been with the gender, you can't know if you like it" I have eyes thank you, I can look at someone and think if I find them attractive or not. Salutations, guys, gals, and non-binary pals! I'm abrosexual. One of our stereotypes is that we cheat on our partners with someone who matches our current sexuality because our sexuality's fluid. I personally don't have much experience with dating, mostly because I'm young and I have excess attraction to fictional characters, but there's one character that I've been in love with for a while. He's male, and over the past few months I've sometimes been aroace or just not attracted to boys, but I kept loving him. It's different for different abros, but I've found that if the attraction I feel's really strong, then I keep on loving them even if they don't fit into my sexuality. At one point with my ex-gf I was straight (a moment of silence for those days when I was a girl and omni) but I kept loving her. {Zoe, you probably won't see this but hello there, and since we kind of just fell apart and didn't speak I assumed we weren't together anymore} I don't know many stereotypes and such against pomogender peeps but we exist :) And don't get me started on transmasc stereotypes. I'm cutesy and softy but not all trans dudes are, and if you get to know me you know that I'm a demon as well. ~ Noelle, he & any neopronouns

the french law encourages full scale blasphemy because the french are frustrated post-revolutionary sarcastic dudes, who love to see people suffer. We encourage by law full scale blasphemy (talking of law here), because it's like saying loud and clear religion can't be interpreted. It's like saying the state can't, and will never be ruled by a religious law (hear religious dictatorship) Actually the french use blasphemy extremelly rarely in every day life. simply because talking about religion is explosive. so we almost never speak of religion outside of home. But we pay an extreme attention that the blasphemy gets protected by law (thus sometimes used in some medias) for the reason above

Hi. Another Mormon here. Yes, we are Christians and no, we don't worship Mormon. The actual name of the church is: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Some people call us LDS. Mormon was a person in one of our religious texts. The Book of Mormon is called that because Mormon is the one who kept the history of his people safe. The Book of Mormon is not "the Mormon bible." We use the King James version of the Bible, just as many other Christians do. We don't believe in polygamy. In fact, you will be kicked out of the church if you're caught living that lifestyle. We don't hate homosexuals and they are welcome in our church. I should know, I am one. While the church does have a stance on all types of moral behaviors, everyone is welcome to worship God. Some members of the church don't practice what the preach. Don't judge, lest ye be judged. But one of the number one things taught in our church is fairly simple: Jesus said be nice. To everyone. No exceptions. Be nice.

Joseph Smith was nice to "black people." And Joseph was the first "Mormon."

Here's the thing, I didn't post to get into a religious debate with anyone. There are some very common and very negative beliefs about my religion. You are welcome to believe anything you like. The bottom line is, Jesus said be nice. That is what I practice in my religion and how I choose to live my life. Doctrine and how people interpret that doctrine are different. Try reading the Book of Mormon, going to one of our services or going to reputable websites to learn about LDS people, or don't. Your choice. What ever you choose to do, choose to be nice.

Mormonism is by every accepted definition a cult. They are NOT Christians, as they do not believe that Jesus is the Messiah and therefore the sole way to salvation, which is the definition of that term.

Cult? Depends how you define it. Certainly not "by every accepted definition. Christian? Again, depends on your definitions. There are some doctines different from mainstream christianity. Some would see those as dealbreakers. Jesus is the Messiah and sole way to salvation? They absolutely believe and teach that. (Don't believe me? Visit their website.)

Bisexual Biromantic AtheistWoman here! 1. Periods aren't unholy, dirty, or anything. It's completely natural and non of your fricking business. 2. Bisexuals/biromantics aren't greedy, nor do they have a crush on you/ want to have sex with you. 3. Atheists don't hate religion, nor are they constantly obsessed over science and evolution 4. Women can do anything men can. And nonbinary people can do anything they can too. Identifying with whatever you identify as shouldn't make people think you are less capable.

That all straight people are homophobic. That's not my sexuality but I wanted to point it out. And while I'm on the topic, not all men are sexist, not all women are whatever the opposite of sexist is. Not all white people are racist. Not all black people are not racist. Not all Christians are homophobic. Not all Atheists are good. Not all LGBTQIA+ people are great. Not all Scorpios are evil, not all Geminis are manipulative, not all Cancers are emotional, not all Aries' are brutal. Thankfully the people on BP get that. Basically, No one is perfect.
