She chewed a hole in the box, but wouldn't leave her babies. No one wanted to adopt her at my clinic because she wasn't 'flashy', but she is the sweetest kitty ever, and I love her so much!

Our Bazzy, who we rescued from a barn at 9 weeks old, lived to almost 20 (19 years and 5 months old) before he passed away in October 2021. Bazzy was with us from just after our first anniversary to a few months after our 21st anniversary, so basically most of our marriage. RIP Baz. You are very much missed!

Some people seem to think it's ok to ditch cats, maybe because they adapt and are aloof, maybe because it's too much work to move them, I don't know. I wish people would hand their cat over to a shelter if they can't care for them. I got my sweet tortie Cinder from neglectful neighbors. As much as I love her, and am grateful to have her become a part of my family, I hate she had to go through all that trauma. If I didn't find her, she would have died.

The Vet.Amt found Kiki in a tiny cage without food or water, lying in her feces. She was almost starved to death and only weighed 2kg. They immediately took her to a vet who found her to be healthy but underweight and severely traumatized. She was brought to a foster home where she needed to be hand-fed because her trauma left her apathetic and refusing to eat independently. She slowly improved and even found a friend at the foster home, Wednesday, a former stray cat who was also in bad shape. She was bullied by other cats and had terrible teeth. The foster home mom and the lady who fed the strays decided to catch her and not put her back outside. 2 months later, I adopted them. They were both doing so much better after just a few weeks of proper care at the foster home. But there was still a lot of work to do and trust to gain. It took months, but now they are both happy and cuddly cats that just enjoy life and toys, a warm place to sleep, and never-empty food bowls.

Thank god the vet found her. That person should be placed in a tiny cage, starved, and covered in dog s**t, frankly. Humans can be monsters.

I don't know a lot about the former owner but she was apparently also a vet and probably a breeder. But one of the bad kind. How can someone who chose to help animals and heal them, decided to exploit and mistreat them at the same time? I don't get it...

Cookie was adopted from the same no-kill shelter as my other kitties. She'd been brought back to the shelter because she's very meek & the first adopters had a kitty who was beating her up. She's only slightly spoiled rotten!
