This is true and it's pretty logical. They made studies, which prove that people who have the tendency to harm/abuse/kill an animal, especially in their youth, have the tendency to escalate with violence/assault/homicide towards humans as well, later in life.

The reason they do this is that people who abuse animals are far more likely to commit violent crimes, so this is a good way to keep track of them and keep them on file.

That is because Animal abuse is a precursor of behavior for serial killers, as is arson. If you have a neighbor or family member abusing anmimalsl know that they may graduate to children or adults to murder. You must act to protect us all.

Scientific tests also showed that they stress out when separated. They believe that by reducing the stress they will raise their milk yield. But considering cows are herd animals, this isn't really surprising.

Many prisons in the US have a program that has select inmates train shelter dogs, some for specific tasks such as disability service dogs. Marked improvement in inmate behavior and outlook have been noted in these programs and, of course, it improves the lives of the dogs involved.

Greyhounds As Pets NSW have a similar program at a women's correctional facility here in Sydney. The inmates help prepare ex-racing greys for life as a pet, teaching them things like how to go up & down stairs, basic obedience, etc. It's great for the dogs, as well as the inmates who can even earn a government-recognised certificate. (Our foster grey participated in this!) :)

I did had no idea about keeping pairs of guinea pigs. I was going on the hamster rule that they fight if they are together. Rest In Peace sweet Coco, I am sorry I did not know. You were so smart. You learned to sqeak when I opened the fridge door so you got a healthy treat.

My boy never made a sound when I pet or fed him during his initial lonely days with me. He became so vocal when I found him a gf. Now he sings, squeaks and hums every few minutes.

No offense to anyone, but I listened to the whole "Weightless" by Marconi Union. I am not impressed. I've listened to far more superior ambient sounds: Vangelis, 2002, Secret Garden, Tangerine Dream, Steve Roach, Kitaro, Steven Severin... just to name a few. That "fact" might sound like "wow" to people unfamiliar with ambient music, but I am certain it's just propaganda.

Never mind singleton Guinea Pigs, I had no idea there was a 'Queen of England'...on behalf of the other three nations of these islands, American media personnel, crack a book sometime- BRITAIN IS NOT CALLED ENGLAND!!! The title of King/Queen of England has not existed since 1707!

Thank you for understanding Shiraz Qaddoumi. I guess we all need to, (or maybe not all), do more research before purchasing any animal. Whatever the size, breed, etc. I actually did read up about guinea pigs prior & post purchase. Nothing I read mentioned the importance of keeping pairs. This is not meant as an excuse, but this is going back 14 years ago.
