Scientific tests also showed that they stress out when separated. They believe that by reducing the stress they will raise their milk yield. But considering cows are herd animals, this isn't really surprising.

or "happy holidays" instead of "merry christmas." there are a-holes on both ends of the spectrum. i say aim for the middle. you'll never get there but you can get close.

That's truly amazing that they can have peace for 2 days but then resume to killing each other after that? Humans are interesting.

This is the subject of a song titled, "Christmas in the Trenches" by John McCutcheon. It's probably my favorite Christmas song and it's heartbreaking.

After the commanders found out about that, they ordered all troops to shoot anyone who exits the enemy trench.

It's actually known as the Christmas Armistice. They didn't exactly exchange gifts, as there was nothing to give. But they sang carols, and ate together.

Allegedly one soldier refused to leave the trenches claiming it was a treason. It was Adolf Hitler.

There's an amazing WWI history project channel on YouTube, called The Great War. They make a short (3-5 minutes I think) about what what was happening on battlefields of World War I exactly 100 years ago, week by week. So now they are somewhere around 1st or 2nd week of 1917 I think. I stumbled upon this channel around a year ago and boy have I hooked up! I never catch up thou as then I got kind of overloaded with history and war information, but I will continue watching one day. Also, they make a lot of side stories, cover notable personas' backgrounds, later they collaborated with some other youtuber, who is a weapon historian and collector and they make long video explaining what was the firearms (pistols, rifles, machine guns, etc) used in the WWI by all of the countries. Then they started to visit some fortresses of the WWI or notable and extant battlefields... So, what I'm saying is that I heard about this fact from one of their videos and it was very detailed and interestin

If you interested in history, history of wars and WWI in particular i highly recommend you go and find their channel on YouTube. It is exceprional and detailed, very well presented, not boring in any way and as far as I can tell not biased or subjective.

That is chilling, It is never the rich and powerful that start the wars that suffer. The hardest thing about training soldiers is the killing bit. On battlefields many soldiers were shot by their commanding officers because the soldier would / could not kill.

I knew of this already. But, I will have to check out the song, no doubt be in tears afterwards. I always say "Merry Christmas", too bad if someone chooses to be offended.

Many prisons in the US have a program that has select inmates train shelter dogs, some for specific tasks such as disability service dogs. Marked improvement in inmate behavior and outlook have been noted in these programs and, of course, it improves the lives of the dogs involved.

Greyhounds As Pets NSW have a similar program at a women's correctional facility here in Sydney. The inmates help prepare ex-racing greys for life as a pet, teaching them things like how to go up & down stairs, basic obedience, etc. It's great for the dogs, as well as the inmates who can even earn a government-recognised certificate. (Our foster grey participated in this!) :)
