Sometimes the world feels like it’s against us. Like, when you accidentally rip off the precious pull tab while opening a can of beans or when you are trying to figure out where is the end, the top, and the side of the sheet when making a bed. To some aliens from outer space, it would likely sound like not that big of a deal, but trust us, tiny humans, it is.
But thanks to some clever minds who were blessed with powers of creativity and problem-solving skills, life could be made easier, hundreds of times easier. But wait, let’s not hype it up too much, and let’s see what smart solutions to everyday problems Bored Panda has rounded up this time.
From tactile paintings for the blind to reversible public benches, and something as simple as a discount for well-behaved kids, these little things give us hope that no matter what, we are all going to be fine. Psst! More clever ideas to ease the stress of handling daily things can be found in our previous posts here, here, and here.

A Discreet Way Of Calling For Help
If it was common practice, then the abusers would know - and the victims would be too afraid to use the red marker in front of them...

How The Ruins Are Displayed In Serbia
Those windows exist in all European countries and can be found in previously fortified cities with remains of the walls and gates..
In Terminal Island (Los Angeles) CA there is a similar glass panel with an etched photo of the Japanese fishing village that was leveled when its entire population was shipped off to Manzanar internment camp at the start of WWII. It's a magnificent way to re-imagine it.
I have a book of ruins in Greece with transparent pages like this.
Awesome... And not try to fix it somehow... Like they did for example in kiew with a lot of buildings... Terrible
I love this. Will try to do it at our belle rovine, "beautiful ruins" in Morruzze, Italy.
In Norway, You Get A Small Amount Of Money For Recycling Bottles/Cans. A Lot Of Our Trash Cans Have These Holders So Poor And Homeless People Don't Have To Search Through The Trash To Collect Them
Because of this, my brother put a bottle next to a trash can once and he got fined 50€ for that 🤦🏽♀️
The problem with doing that, is that you'll risk the bottle roll away from the bin and end up somewhere else.
Load More Replies...Here in America, people just throw their trash on the ground right next to the can (or wherever they happen to be standing). It's kind of a "shithole country".
Similar in Germany, when you're in a supermarket you put bottles in a machine, and it gives you 50 cents each bottle.
What? Highest is 25 cents for cans and non-refillable platic bottles.
Load More Replies...Over here many bins also say "Pfand gehört daneben" which translates as "Bottles and cans with deposit should be placed next to the bin" in a very short form. The idea is to have those who do not want to return the bottles do rather do a good deed than wasting the resources. It saves those collecting bottles and cans for deposit from grabbing into filthy bins, too.
I love Norway. They’re so community minded and care for the humans and animals around them.
Meanwhile many other countries create hostile architecture and put spikes in doorways to stop people taking shelter.
In Finland we don't have the holders so leave them around the bin for them
Humans have been coming up with ideas since the dawn of time. Some have been stupid (well, let’s be honest, most of them), some have been life-changing. But generating a truly good idea is a job on its own that requires breaking one’s conventional thinking and making that holy light bulb appear. But how you do this?
Well, first, good ideas don’t come naturally. You have to engage in observation, do research, watch people, and reflect on what you’ve seen. Gather all the information you can and look for patterns. In this way, you may spot the problem that needs to be solved and this is the point where your brain gets stimulated.

The Fitted Sheet In My New Sheet Set Is Marked For Easier Bed-Making
On normal sheets, the only one little label goes always bottom-left.
I was today years old when I learned that. Thanks!
Load More Replies...I have and love these so much I'll shill: the brand is Fieldcrest and you can get them at Target.
A hint for everyone else who doesn't own these glorious sheets, there's one tag on the inside of your fitted sheet. The corner with the tag is the right end of your mattress. Never fails me :)
And I've been using a sharpie to put a dot on the top corners. Great idea!
Then, writing down the ideas, even the most absurd ones, is key. Think of how many bursts of thought we forget on a daily basis. Also, don’t worry about how the idea sounds initially. Picking the best ones is the second part of the job, but you only do this after you've got a solid list of ideas to work on.
Thirdly, remember that whatever it is that came to your mind, nothing’s impossible. Whether you dream of a business idea or a gadget that will change the world, accept the challenge you created for yourself and don’t be afraid it won’t work out.
Because even if it likely won’t save the planet, and you won’t become a second Steve Jobs, that doesn’t mean it won’t make our lives a tiny bit easier. And this is what we call an excellent idea turned reality.
Crosswalk Projected On A Dirty Winter Road
Are you sure not KGB road? (sarcasm in phony Russian accent)
Load More Replies...This would provide great visibility all year round! At least in my country, the paint comes off after couple of months so unless you aren't familiar with the area, there is no way you can know where crosswalks are most of the time.
I get that it works well on snow, but they should be on all roads at night...
very smart - you make it for one time post get the attention and then the guy on the right takes everything back and leaves as it was. Briliant idea tho.
They Put Rails Under The Benches In This Park So You Can Always Be In The Shadow

Our Refrigerator Has Revolving Levels So You Can Reach Everything Easily
Whilst in one way it is convenient, the fact that the fridge is round means it wastes space.
I wouldn't call it a "waste" if it saves so much time and energy, but your point is valid.
Load More Replies...I designed one like this for a project in college (I'm a graphic designer), and my teacher said it looked great but would be a nightmare to engineer. It was also penguin-shaped, and had a tiny fridge on its head!
Looks great, but I'm not sure it's so great in reality. Looks like a nightmare to clean, the round shape means it won't fit in most kitchens, and it looks like an extremely poorly insulated design, so it fails on energy efficiency too.
I've also never had a fridge so big that I couldn't reach the back of the shelf - and I always try to buy as big a fridge as possible.

Your automatically qualified if your that stupid to believe this is an actual GENIUS solution to everyday problems. The solution is for you or fridge. The genius behind it is the sad truth that so many stupid assholes such as yourself (no offense) now over populate most of the world that can’t articulate is that the genius solution is the company is going to be rich from how stupid people are and that’s now his solution to wanting your money for an overpriced s**t box. These Notched Chairs To Hold Bags
It’s so stupidly brilliant it almost angers me it hasn’t been done more.
Seriously..... i get so frustrated when my purse falls on the dirty floor
Load More Replies...Love the idea, but even better with a latch on it to stop your bag from being stolen.
Yeah, like a latch that is usually open, but when you sit on the chair a mechanism would then close the latch making impossible to be removed by someone else. Hey, wanna go into business together?!
Load More Replies...i 'm sure my bag gets dirty but it goes on the floor in front of my legs so it isn't stolen from being an easy target on a seat. but with the notch it is probably a bit harder to steal
The bar I used to frequent before the pandemic had hooks underneath the bar for purses.
This isn't a good idea in a public situation. So easy to dip the bag, and if the person isn't leaning back, to lift it off while an accomplice distracts everyone. I've worked in restaurants.
Wouldn't use it. I never leave my bag out of my sight or easily accessible
That depends on where you live. You probably live somewhere in South America (Mexico? Argentina?). In my city people even leave their bag on the chair when they go to the toilet, and it's still there when they return. I lived in Argentina for many years and it drives me mad. Same thing in the car. I block all the doors as soon as I get in, especially if I'm driving alone, but nobody else does here. They think I'm paranoid!
Load More Replies...Too easy to get it nicked by someone passing though, I always hang mine on my knee
This Restaurant Gives You A Discount If You Have Well-Behaved Kids
I CAN imagine certain people complaining about discrimination already.
Load More Replies...When I was a waitress if I had a table of wild kids but the parents were trying and apologizing and on their knees trying to clean up their wild kids messes, I would knock off their drinks. At almost $2 a drink it adds up. They always notice and left a bigger tip because of not paying for drinks and the mess they made.
The discount of not buying a bunch of kids meals.
Load More Replies...My dog groomer has this for pups. I always have to pay the $10 a-hole fee for my Frito Boy. He's such a bad dog (He's a rescue- We're working on it) lol
Load More Replies...True, but not always. Sometimes kids will seem well behaved because they're too scared to act naturally. And sometimes they will seem spoilt because their parents let them express their feelings. It's not as simple as good parents -> good kids.
Load More Replies...In the US, people with rude children would sue for discrimination. They would probably win.
These Public Benches Are Reversible, So You Can Choose To Look At People, Or Boats
I remember riding a ferry in Penang Malaysia which had these reversible benches a long time ago. The ferry never turn itself around because it can be driven in both ways (forward and reverse); making these benches necessary.
Boats and hoes/ flip… boats and …and… wtf! Some old a*****e fishing in his boat 🚤 looking like a complete a*****e in his 40k boat alone with no hoes in his boat! Hey man wow that is a genius solution for all my problems. Except not so genius since it won’t fold all the way down so those hoes can lay down and watch me as I catch every STD passed around the harbor. When the fill in genius is replaced with a real one ☝️ Please redesign that f****r because only a genius would have added additional pleasure features to accommodate those preferred customers that need those solutions resolved easily not sitting there looking at old saggy balls reeling in a largemouth bass if anything just positioned to stare at boats and hoes will have to be standard on that stupid f*****g worthless bench that not a single soul alive would even want to flip the gd thing. Gd you know what f**k the bench and the non genius solution bs. A chainsaw is better and we can Build a wooden statue of just a hoe. Genius
and they have no bars across the bench to discourage homeless from sleeping there. A+
This Museum In Berlin Has "Touchable" Versions Of Their Paintings For Blind Or Visually-Impaired Visitors
Yes, I always struggle to keep my fingers off exhibits
Load More Replies...Or also for the overly tactile. I have a good friend from high school. After we graduated, we took a trip to Italy. I think he touched everything in all the museums we went to. He just loved touching the art -- even when he shouldn't. It was no end of trouble...
Is he neuro-atypical by any chance? I know many people with dyslexia find it easier to learn their alphabet when they have 3D letters to hold. Teachers use different textures for different letters. It could be his preferred way of processing information.
Load More Replies...Well, assuming galleries are open (not where I am), I guess a staff member would have to clean it between visitors.
Load More Replies...This Keypad Randomizes The Numbers Every Time So Someone Doesn't Figure Out The Password From Your Hand Movements

I remember when they first put the braille ATMs at the DRIVE thru??? Ummmmm
Load More Replies......at ther same time this makes you type much slower, making it easier to peek...
My thoughts exactly. Just make sure to cover the keypad with your free hand and you should be good to go. Referring to the standard one, btw.
Load More Replies...I only remember the movement I have to make and not the actual numbers. I will never be able to enter 😂
I would hope there was a separate braille one off to the side maybe
Load More Replies...one shop has this around here and you will mess up your code the first time... everytime.
I'd be screwed, I don't remember the number, I remember the movement.
Refillable Detergent In Prague, Czech
Did you know that fabric softener is among the most toxic things to nature, pollutes the groundwater really bad. I make my own since a few years back, using 2 dl white vinegar, 5 dl water and some drops of essential oils (if you'd like some fragrance). Just mix it up and done :)
You should also googe how many flowers need to be processed in the factory for those few drops of essential oil... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Load More Replies...Me too. I wish we had this in Canada. I always buy the most giant jug of detergent and then try not to kill myself going down to the basement with it... but I do this because I hate being wasteful.
Load More Replies...Seen this in most organic and herb stores why the mainstream supermarkets refuse to do this is beyond me! I especially hate watching people buy water in bulk (24 packs of plastic bottles) if only they could refill their single serving bottles the way they do 5 gallon bottles.
I want something like this in almost quite a lot of stuff. Imagine the amount of plastic usage that will go down
Doctors Paint The MRI Machine In The Children's Clinic To Look Like A Submarine
With refrains of, "We all live in a yellow submarine", playing in the background.
Doctors didn''t paint this, that's a strange way of putting it. The department (consisting of nursing and administrative staff and doctors too) and the hospital chose to have a decorated MRI, actually painted by a company that specializes in these projects. It's probably a children's hospital. Great design of course, I hope they also have some other nifty things that make it a little less awful to go through the lengthy and loud process of getting an mri.
That's like "we built a new addition on the back of our house". No. You paid a contractor to do it.
Load More Replies...omg, the last mri I had, was SUPER boring. Every one told me I would fall asleep. EVERYONE WAS WRONG.
How on Earth could anyone fall asleep with that noise? They day I had an MRI was also the day I figured out I"m actually claustrophobic... You learn something new everyday, right?!
Load More Replies...Wow!!That would certainly make it Less Scary for Children Perhaps with a One Hour Movie about fish and sea life too so they Learn something while they get X ray Done!!
If You’re An Elderly Or Disabled, You Will Receive A Card That Enables You To Cross The Road With A Longer Countdown Time (Singapore)
National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) have made recommendations for local councils to increase times and there are initiatives in some areas. It is happening, just needs to be more widespread.
Load More Replies...I have a mixed feeling about this one..of course it is good to have this, yet at the same time other side of me can't help but think how rushed world we are living in, that even a traffic signal does not keep green long enough for elderly / slow-walker to be able to cross safely without rush..
Some intersections already have cameras to monitor traffic, a company, sidewalk labs maybe, is working on creating AI that can calculate based on what people they look like and how the move, how long they need to cross. So no special card necessary.
In Norway the button sits sorta on a box attached to the pole, but there is a secret button underneath that only those who need it know about, which gives them twice as long to cross over.
oh I just love this I've got stuck in the crosswalk so many times for every driver that shows patience 5 want to run you down.
A Very Interactive CPR Training Kiosk At The Airport
This is great! Everyone should take a few minutes to learn about CPR. The guidelines have changed quite a bit to make it simpler and more effective. Both my life and my dad's were saved by CPR given immediately after collapsing. I was only 30 and healthy when I had Sudden Cardiac Arrest
This is great! A lot of people don't realize how hard you actually have to push for effective CPR
Especially when you have hours to kill just waiting around, such a great idea
Should be everywhere..I mean in all public places, schools, stores and offices..
This is brilliant! I went to a gym that had an emergency defribulator with loud verbal instructions. Breaking open the case summons emergency services.
Train Seats In Japan Facing Outwards So You Can See The Scenery
That is interesting... I was told to always look at the scenery as not seeing it makes it worse. Not sure if facing sideways would be an issue or not, on boats watching the horizon helps no matter where on the boat (I mean ships). Genuinely don't know if this would be a problem or not for me.
Load More Replies...That's nice, but what's even cooler: in the Shinkansen (bullet-train) all seats can be turned 180° so that you never have to sit in the wrong direction.
They also have trains where you can 'flip' the back of the seats, so you're always sitting facing the direction the train is moving. When the train arrives at a terminus, an employee just walks up the length of the train reversing the backs of the seats.
Here in Australia, I've only ever been on trains like the one you are describing
Load More Replies...that's is a terrible idea. If you are having short trip (under 10minutes), you will feel motion sickness and after a while, when you get used to it... guess what - train stops and you need to be able to straights somehow but your body and mind are used to moving to one side for balance. Sounds fun tho - I would do that as a challenge.
On Felix trips we had we always were facing their front but this seems helpful
how much can you see at 200mph? it would be like impressionist art in a kalidescope
This is a local scenic route popular with tourists. Not a high speed train.

A Pill Bottle That Keeps Track Of When It Was Last Opened
I used to think things like this were silly. Until I got older... 🤣👍🏽
I set an alarm on my phone to remind me to take my pills. I still think this is a brilliant idea. Even with an alarm, it's easy to turn the alarm off and forget to take the pills.
Load More Replies...Bought one of those pill boxes. that have separate sections with the day of the week on it. for exactly the same reason. Because it’s such a routine thing, It’s so easy to forget if you’ve taken medication or not.
That's great, I hope people don't throw the caps out, that's a lot of bad stuff in the environment.
The number of times I've asked my family - does anyone remember when i took the painkillers? Because I can't remember if i can take another dose yet!
Good plan! Prevents double dosing by mistake. As I age, my STM is shorter than it used to be!
Great idea that could serve not only to let you know if you took your pill, but also if someone else is taking your pills. note: if you need it for the reminder, it could fudge things up if there is someone dipping into your bottle.
This Airplane Sleeping Mask Has Different Sides Depending On If You Want The Flight Attendant To Wake You Up For Meals Or Not
[sing to the tone of evanescence] wake me up wake me up for food (can´t wake up) save meee...
I need one for sofa naps at home. My partner once didn't wake me up and only made pizza for himself
I was on a transatlantic flight and as soon as I sat down I tried to go to sleep. My seat mate kindly asked if I wanted woken up when food arrived, I said no thank you. I woke up when the poor stewardess accidentally dumped my seat mate's food in my lap. I went ahead and had dinner.
What a Novel Idea!! Do you get to Keep the Mask after you have used it?
At first I was thinking it's too busy, too much stuff written around the message. Then I realized the message is written in several languages. Then I shut up.
How about a third option to not wake me but leave the goodies for me for when I am awake!

My Hospital Has Lights In The Ceiling That Are Designed To Look Like The Sky
This is good. After the deaths of my father and my grandmother I made it well known that if it could be helped, I was not to be allowed to die under a drop-ceiling. It's probably the most depressing visual I can imagine.
Softer Lighting System allows Nurses to Check on you but allows you to dose off if you are Tired!! Two Thumbs Up!!
My hospital did that too! When I had my surgeries, it was always nice to be able to (once I adjusted from anesthesia) look up into the 'sky'! Very good idea for hospitals especially ones that help children and people with chronic conditions.
I looked at getting these installed in my old optical practice, extremely expensive unfortunately

The Tear-Offs On This Poster For Domestic Abuse Have The Phone Number Disguised As A Bar Code
It is so sad how many tricks are needed to help people suffering from an abusive partner..It makes me understand how controlling and mentally abusing domestic abusers are..
What's even more sad is the fact hat the victims of domestic partners could, and should leave the very first time any abuse is experienced... instead they tell themselves that it was a "one off" or, it was their own fault and they deserved it... but in reality once abuse starts, it never stops... it's a damned shame that they don't teach this in schools... they teach about all types of sexualities, but they never cover things like how to recognize domestic abuse, what to do about it, and that it is never the fault of the victim.
Load More Replies...The amount of Abuse in the world these days is Heartbreaking!!! Why are so Many ready to Punch for their Pleasure?? A Fist shows what a COWARD you TRULY ARE!!! MALE or FEMALE!!! Load More Replies...My Work Has A Special Coat Closet For Smokers
Weird that you have coat closets at work, most people I know either have a spot to hang them in their office/cubicle or just drape them over the back of their chair. Excellent idea to segregate the coats though, I'd hate to have to wear a coat that's been absorbing the awful cigarette smells that linger in smokers' clothes.
Not weird. Offices in banks, for example, have places you stow personal items so things can't be stashed in pockets or bags. It is usually a security thing.
Load More Replies...a smoker's jacket can transfer its stench to other coats. I really like this idea
That's awesome! I always hated putting my stinky coat in with non-smoker coats. I'm not being sarcastic at all. I try to never smoke around people even outside.
Well I don't support smoking but thanks for at least being considerate.
Load More Replies...I didn't know that coats could smoke. Do people ask their coat "Smoking or non-smoking?" --- And what about "smoking jackets"? j/k
I've seen this before. Apparently smoke particles on a smoker's coat/jacker transferring to a non-smoker's coat/jacket is third-hand smoke.
Should also have it for lice. Had a woman whose kid gave it to her, she brings it to work on her coat so anyone whose coat was hung close to hers got her kids lice. She wasn’t even sorry.
If you smoke at home, outside or just smoke, poeple can smell you. Sorry, smokers smell bad. So it's essential not to share a closet with a smoker.

Actually you can just buy a small device that you put on your suitcase.

This Box Pretending To Contain Boring Flour So That It Doesn’t Get Stolen
Was going to say. In the UK you couldn't get flour for months. This would have been pinched immediately!
Load More Replies...The point is that someone has a split-second to make a decision about stealing. If they can see from a distance that it is something they don’t want, they’ll pass it by. If it looks like it could be something they might want, they might just grab it, open it, and then discard it if they didn’t want it. In this case, the company is trying to make the package appear from a distance as something someone wouldn’t want to bother stealing.
People will steal anything. They'd steal flour just to throw it in the air and cover something with it. Nice try though.
Amazon recently started to print on label what the content is in the package. How stupid! So anyone can read and decide if it is something they want to steal.

I've seen these, it's funny how stops get so imprinted in your memory that you stop reading the signs.
And in the UK, the speed limit will be ignored anyway by the special people who don't have to obey such things. Which sadly seems to be most people. I'm sure it happens in the rest of the world too. Great, until another kid decides they want all the stickers, then goes and peels them off their classmates' backs.
My daughter would freak out she hates stickers and just the idea that one was on her would drive her crazy.

A Stand For Bikers To Hold On To While Waiting For The Traffic Lights In Sweden
Whereas in the UK, Cyclists don't wait for the red light so they just cut across pavements and continue cycling 😂
I use toe clips on my pedals; these would be great because I could leave my feet in the clips instead of having to fumble one foot back into the clip after starting up again.
I dont understand why... For those people that ride bikes which are just to large for them? Which is pretty common, id say at least every 5th biker i see standing somewhere has a bike thats simply to large for them.
If your feet are able to be flat on the ground while you are sitting on the bike, then the bike is too small for you or your seat is too low.

Or Bacon, Poison and Bacon and Cyanide. Never take things for granted...
Load More Replies...The more common way in Argentina is how they fold or crimp the edge. Some empanada shops can have 25 types and they'll provide you with a little cheatsheet with what is what. This type might have three hash-marks and that type might be with X's. Jamon y queso (ham and cheese), one of the yummiest types will have the ends tied together and will kind of be ball-like.
I thought this was common practice...and some use these little prints in the middle...

New Credit Card 3 Digit (CVV) Changes Every 4 Hours
Yeah, have to pull my card out at every online shopping
Load More Replies...So that all of your recurring payments for bills and streaming services are the hassle you always wished they could be.
If used for on-line purchases, how would your bank know what the correct 3 digit number was?
It's a two factor authentication token. The number is based on timing. The bank knows what code will be generated by the card based on the pre determined timing they set when they issued the card. Two factor authentication is used by many services and will become more common.
Load More Replies...And how is it changed? If it's thru wifi, it would have to be extremely secure to never be hacked. That's just...no.
No. Not Wi-Fi. Its a two factor authentication token based on pre determined timing known only by your bank. It's all built into the card and powered by a very long life battery. Some banks have token generators the size of calculators they give their customers to log in to their online account. It's the same thing.

My New Wok Has Circles For Measuring Oil
Sorry but the amount of oil used for cooking is very important. Would you use the same amount to deep fry as saute? Do you want your veggies to be greasy and covered in oil or cooked to perfection with just enough oil to coat the pan? Former chef here and I just couldn't let that one go.
It is literally only measuring those amounts, that has nothing to do with how much you'd want to use
Load More Replies...I just thought this is great. I'm always using way too much oil. This would probably get me to limit the amount
Load More Replies...You Can See How Much Milk Is Left Inside
It's cool, but doesn't it mean it now has more plastic than it has to?
I am guessing its already lined on the inside with plastic. this is has a little bit less outer cover !!
Load More Replies...We used to have it too in Norway for some time, but then they decided to discontinue it for environmental reasons. And besides, people get an idea of how much is left even without it.
Just weigh it as 1 gram = 1ml so if it weighs 200g there is 200 mls in the container minus the packaging obviously
This means that the milk will last less than it used to, because the dark packaging has a purpose, this might be useful but only for the fresh milk, not for the UTH milk...
The first Norwegian dairy brand to use these has now removed them, in turn saving a whopping 18 tons of plastic a year! Norway is a pretty small market, and this brand is not even the market leader. On the flipside, these windows have definitely helped fight food waste, and although the dairy brand says they don't have numbers for how much, food waste has a lot larger climate footprint than plastics.
All Of The Toilet Lights In My Town Have Been Changed To Fluorescent Blue, In An Attempt To Prevent Heroin Users From Being Able To Find A Vein To Use
This is a really bad idea. It doesn't prevent people from injecting, all it does is make it harder for them to inject safely, so the risk of abcesses or hitting an artery are higher. It would be more helpful to put up posters advertising local substance misuse support services and provide sharps boxes. Drug users aren't bad people, they're people with a problem who need help to stop.
It also seems kind of discriminatory, like the spikes some places put in front of their buildings so the homeless won't sleep there. The addicts will realize they can't see veins under the blue light & will find other places to use. Sad.
Load More Replies...... providing a place to use, and a clean set of ... well, whatever they need to do their ... thing ... and, likely, a lot of issue will just disappears. Addicts are humans, too, and shouldn't be treated as any lesser.
I often wonder if that really works. Providing a safe place to use, will it just turn into a nasty flop house? Or if it is regulated (supervised) will addicts choose not to use it?

This Clock At My Grandparents' House Is Backwards So It Faces The Right Way In The Mirror While You're Getting Ready
This is called a barber's clock. It has been around for a long time. Barber chairs are usually positioned facing a mirror covering the entire wall, leaving no place on that wall for a clock. So these types of clocks were placed on the opposite wall, so the person getting a haircut could read it in the mirror.
Or just place the clock directly above/ next to the mirror. Then you can just glance at it when you're facing the mirror or turn around and glance at it if your back is to the mirror, and instantly know the time either way.
I have seen these backwards clocks before, but I never thought they actually had a practical purpose :-)
This USB Cable That Always Plugs In The Right Way
Type C is another kind of the plug, but yes, it should be more common
Load More Replies...USB cables should simply be coloured differently on one side, or have a sticker, basically something more visually more prominent. This is a design fault, they should originally have been made so that they could fit either way.
They do already! The USB logo is always on the same side. The only thing you need to work out is the orientation of the socket you're sticking it in. I can't believe how many people do not know this!

Well, in the case of US cubicles they're so badly designed with wide gaps everywhere, so there's really no need for this...
We don't actively go around spying through the gaps. And since many toilet stall doors are closed by default it can be difficult to tell which cubicles are occupied without crouching down to see if you can spy someone's feet. Having lights like this are a relief.

Anybody notice how the number of up votes for each item declines almost evenly as you work your way down the list showing how people become disengaged as they get further down. Rerunning the list the other way up would allow you to get an even better measure of the rate of disengagement and to extract a more meaningful measure of the quality of the ideas - which are very good, by the way.
