Those are common around here, the water drains (slowly), so I rinse it with some fresh water and let it drain before my dog drinks and haven't had any problem with him picking up diseases.

Our closest dog park has a sm pond for the dogs w/ the 1st few feet showing water depth, for smaller pets & kids.. It has water stations all over the park, it runs on donations, most people give a bit each visit, but not required. Its LG, has picnic areas, grassy areas, sm playground for kids & animals. The city donated the land years ago. A group/board runs it. Anyone can use it & they encourage volunteer to help/work on the committees, etc. Several landscaping businesses care for the grounds,, volunteers help w/ maintenance work, build tables/the play area, painting, etc. A few veterinarians work w/ the group to make sure its safe for for animals. They do 1 fundraiser a year. A 1 day event w/ booths, games that include pets, BBQ meals for CHEAP, ending a raffle, silent auction & regular auction. Not restricted to community members. Its free for anyone to. I can't imagine why there aren't more places like this.

They put something similar in at a park near my house about 5-6 years ago. One drinking fountain, one for filling water bottles and then a dog bowl, all around a central post. The button for the dog bowl is at a standing height so you can push it and the bowl is designed to drain slowly so it fills up for the dog to drink rather than just immediately going down the drain.

Fairly certain the EU passed a law banning sweets at all checkouts. There's a dedicated sweets aisle, supermarkets just have to make up the impulse purchases with "healthier" options. (Or, as at my local supermarket, batteries). ETA: ok, so it's not an EU law, it's a UK proposal. Most supermarkets have already put policies in place, with the law to be enacted "soon".
