Did you know that the very first video game console which could be connected to a TV set was introduced in 1972? It was called Magnavox Odyssey and featured a variety of simple games such as volleyball, hockey, tennis, and chase. Game consoles promptly gained momentum and became a huge part of the gaming industry. As a result, there are many people out there who can't even imagine their childhood without video games. This Twitter user named Dilan is one of them. Recently, he shared some of his old handheld consoles and realized that people out there probably haven't even seen them before. His post has spiraled into a full thread of gaming consoles from the past that are rarely used these days. From the very first Nintendo Entertainment System, which was released in the 1980s, to the much more modern PlayStation Portable, which entered the industry in 2004, these blasts from the past are rarely remembered. Can understand if some kids of today have no clue regarding the original Gameboy but seriously, the first Nintendo DS came out in 2005 and DSi is from 2008. Who exactly is intended as "kids of today" then ?
Exactly. Plus, the classic Game Boy is iconic, and I don't think nowadays' kids are completely unfamiliar, at least with the look of it. It even appears in Adventure Time, if I'm not mistaken.

3ds and new 3ds havent been forgotten i kno a ton of kids who have them and asked for them they arent that old. the ds is another story

Top left corner, the game boy. So simple. You put the game in and that was it. Not like the computers today loading discs. Cartridges didn't get scratched either!
I have all of these bar one or two. Still take them out to play trough some of my faves like Mega man.exe. I also have a few of the ancient game and watch LCD versions. Still perfect.
I am somewhat still a child and I still have a DS plus a mini version of the NES
I still have my Gameboy color, and I still play Pokémon red from time to time :D. I once handed it to my 11 yo niece and she was so upset that the "touch screen wasn't working" 😂
Sucker. I have a 2ds. I doesn't even fold. My other system is the wii console from 2008. I'm .. well let's just say still preteen.

I found several of my GB games last week. Not sure if I should throw them away or sell them.
Plus, this is technically the first Xbox. (DirectX integration into a gaming console, which is litterally what "Xbox" mean)
I got really unlucky. I got one of the few defective ones(screen was internally damaged). Wound up swiping my cousin's whenever she was over until I got a Gameboy Advance.
Aww the Game Gear! Will happily gobble 6 AA batteries in about 4 hours! What a beast.
My teacher in high school had so many Marlboro miles there point system. She won the train trip there ultimate promotion prize. But all Marlboro did was keep extending the date of the trip. Due to health concerns of the workers it got canceled. But she got such cool stuff even a kayak and a lot more.
You know the 3 in 3DS was because it was in 3D right? And then the 2DS came out because you could play the 3DS games but only in 2D...
can this stupid "im older than you, you don't know what this is, therefore i'm better than you" war thing come to an end?? it's really annoying considering gen z kids have most likely seen those and played with those. sorry to burst your millennial bubble but you're not really that old.

I remember the commodore 64. Sometimes you wait all that time and then it dont load.

My all time fave games are Final Fantasy (i have 1 - 13) Resident evils, silent hills, guitar heroes, 8 ball pool and clash of clans.

i didnt see any turbo grafx-16 listed there. i had one of those when i was like 12. it was pretty amazing. and i thought that the graphics were way above Nintendo and genesis at the time. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TurboGrafx-16
Anyone remember Ghosts and Goblins? You had to collect the keys to get to the next room.

Game developer then: i want make a game about monkey soldier carrying a gun that fires pinneaple and shooting at group of musroom. Game developer now: alright time to make another FPS game and kill more zombies
Don't forget microtransactions! Can't have a FPSRPG without microtransactions. And a battle royale mode.
