I was reading a book with 4 central characters, all women. 2 of these women had been friends for over 20 years, but their day to day conversations were absolutely cringe worthy and unrealistic. Besties for 20 years DO NOT speak to one another is such a formal & stilted manner. I was like, "Hey James Patterson, do you know any REAL women. 'Cause these bitches are straight up non-existent".

As a teen I spend a whole monthly allowance on a book about women who defended themselves successfully against attacks. I was so sick of the general story line that once a man decided to rape and/or kill you, you WILL loose and so I bought this book. It also taught me some valuable things like always trust your instinct if you have a bad feeling, don't be afraid to make a scene, don't be afraid to be rude. I don't know if the book is partly responsible for the fact that I have never been seriously attacked (despite doing hitchiking, hiking alone traveling alone etc), but who knows. It was a good purchase.

I watched CSI Miami and the men are like...yeah, she's a natural death and the ladies talk quietly amongst themselves..."she's wearing pantyhose." And THEN they explained it to each other for our benefit. Dudes.. ladies know all about the pros and cons of pantyhose.
