‘Not A Wedding Photographer’ Captures The Chaos Of People’s Special Day (30 Funny Pics)
A perfectly lit bride staring out a stained glass window, a mother smiling as she lovingly puts a necklace around her daughter's neck or an adorable flower girl sitting sweetly next to her flower basket. These are probably the images that come to mind when you think of wedding photos - but if you hire professional photographer Ian Weldon, these are not the wedding pictures you are going to get.
Repeatedly listed as 'not a wedding photographer' on all of his pages, this artist explains: "I’m completely unbiased in the photographs I make. A sort of photographic democracy where one photograph is no more important than any other. Where all things are equal, people the same as objects." The subjects of his photos show the nitty-gritty, hilariously real behind-the-scenes moments that take place on these special days. "Much as I’d love to stand around for hours lining people up and taking photographs of every combination of family members and guests, I’ve more important things to be doing. And quite frankly, so have you." Scroll down below to check out the coolest photos from weddings as you've never seen it before, and don't forget to upvote your faves!

“I started to photograph weddings to earn money so I could work on other photo ideas. When I found that weddings were fruitful ground for great photographs, and they had not really been approached as a documentary subject they became the project,” the photographer told Bored Panda, explaining how it started.
"Grandma? No, never a problem with her. Provided you give her a private bottle of champagne."
This is pretty adorable. I hope they show this photo to his children when they're older. I imagine it'll bring back family memories <3 haha
This genius idea worked so well that it generated exposure and a beautiful wedding photography book. I Am Not A Wedding Photographer was also produced to coincide with the exhibition of the same name, on display at the Martin Parr Foundation June 26 to August 10th, 2019.
"I didn't choose the underbelly of society and I didn’t choose social injustice. I chose Weddings, full of people and character and laughter and happiness and sadness and dancing and drinking, funny photo ops, and Love."
I guess the wedding theme was racism.. I'm sorry.. I meant racist heritage pride.
"I thought that I had everybody on my side But I went and blew it, all sky high And now she won't even spare a passing glance All just because I (rip) ripped my pants" -Spongebob
Welcome to the party Sister! Payback, for that smelly D in hygiene!
Load More Replies...Hoping he would never see his weird fetish in the day light
Load More Replies...Wait, why is there a lady in a bridal gown at the front and another one coming up the aisle in the back of the pic? Is this some kind of mass wedding and this is why they are confused?
Bridesmaid wearing white - confusing unless they are children!
Load More Replies...That's a great dress - and I'm not one for normally having an opinion on wedding dresses.
Uncle Billy scores big with the story about the time Daphne fell in the swimming pool.
The lady in red has some impressively sculpted arms! Goes great with that dress! :)
Is this the UK? To me these look SO much like most of the British weddings I have been to and I wonder if my guess is right or if that look is global. Love the photos, full of quirky joy.
Most of them look like the UK and the photographer is based in Northern England.
Load More Replies...These pix would get looked at way more often than the boring formal poses
Love it! There are more real and better show what the special day really looked like - they are funny and no artificial =) At my wedding day (someday) I would like to have two photographers: one, the official and the second - documentalist - it would be fun!
My friend is a photographer who does a lot of weddings and I think at most of them she has a second one to take more candids (including having one go to each of the bride and grooms place to take some as they get ready) and they turn out great.
Load More Replies...I would have love to share some of my first wedding pictures assignment as a budding photographer. Trust me, some of them were hilarious !!!! But the 3 rolls of Kodak film I used were returned un-exposed. Someone took a picture of me, taking pictures and I realized that I forgot to remove the lens cup... Sadly, It was my first.. and last assignment...
I believe this method is called the photojournalistic approach to wedding photography. It's capturing the "in-between moments" - it's been around for ages!

Every one of these pictures would be in a wedding album for my family because that's how we roll. The crazy, silly, and downright stupid are far more memorable than standing for the 'perfect picture.'
Newly weds, family reunion-esque, alcohol, dance floor - what could go wrong?
I've been expecting this for the past couple of days, this was mentioned on BBC Breakfast and it was obvious it would end up HERE.... Loved it.
