In a world full of mass-produced goods and cookie-cutter designs, DIY (Do-It-Yourself) shines differently. It's a creative craft that lets you make stuff on your own. Home is everyone's safe place, and having things you've made there adds something extra special. But sometimes, people's ideas can get so wild that their creations become a bit silly. Particularly during 2010, there was a phase when anything created through DIY was thought to be cool and aesthetic.
For example, a candlestick made out of tuna cans is bound to raise some eyebrows. Just imagine, it's a rainy day, the tea lights are flickering, and the smell of gently warmed tuna lingers around you... it's enough to make any guest want to leave early! You've probably seen and heard the letters DIY everywhere, and you likely know they stand for "do it yourself." It sounds simple, but DIY can mean different things to different people.
Basically, DIY means doing things on your own instead of hiring a pro or buying stuff. It doesn't mean you can't use resources like YouTube or books for guidance – you totally can. DIY is about learning and doing things you'd usually pay others to do.

Lots of people do DIY projects to save money. Doing home improvements and fixes by yourself can really save you thousands of dollars. According to the U.S. Census Bureau’s latest American Housing Survey, "You can install a new roof on your home for $2,500 to $5,000 versus the $5,000 to $10,000 average to hire a professional. Or replace your home’s insulation for around $962 on average, compared to $2,937 if you contract the work out."
Watching home renovation shows online or on TV can make it seem like anyone with a bit of money and motivation can handle DIY projects. But DIY can have downsides. It might take more time and money than expected, and you could even get hurt or end up with something worse than before. Some call DIY "destroy it yourself," and not all projects are good to do on your own.

To anyone saying fire hazard I’m pretty sure that’s a a cheap dollar store plastic candle and it seems like the one that lights up only.
For instance, it's smart to let professionals handle tasks like complex electrical work, roof repairs, fixing gas appliances, and projects involving chemicals. These jobs can be tricky and risky. By knowing when to do it yourself and when to ask experts for help, you'll make sure your home projects are safe and turn out well.

I think I must be a total basic b***h, because I like a lot of these. They seem practical, innovative, and a good way of repurposing rather than sending to landfill.

This post is a mixed bag. Some of these are creative design projects about recycling/ upcycling and are really cleaver. The other half are going out of their way to copy trends (cheese grater with everything). Either way, I like the use of upcycled materials. Eg/ the clothes pin to stop the tooth brush touching the counter.

How do you know the creator made it to copy a trend? I have a collection of antique cheese graters that I sourced from junk sales. I just saw it one day and I liked it, so I got a few more. I had no idea it was trend.

The title "63 Of The Worst Pics From The Pinterest Household Item DIY Era" is wrong - again. I've loved most of these ideas. I don't condone stealing carts but those ideas were useful too. For some, I would just change the color. Some others I would definitely welcome in my house, if not there already. Who decided that these would be the worst of the worse?

"Cringiest" designs, and yet at least half of them are actually great, and the other half are still super creative. Do you think the author actually thinks these are all terrible (and if so, are they the kind of person who criticizes people's art for not being masterpieces, or people for not dressing nicely at the grocery store?) or are they just using "cringey" to get clicks?

Eclectic, crafty, and resourceful! Though some of these don't speak to my own tastes, I can respect the effort and creativity. Anyone that finds these "cringy" is part of the problem that these pieces are indirectly addressing.

This is a cringey piece by a snarky kid. True, most of those pieces we'll never find in the Scully and Scully catalog or at the Met or MoMA; but the creativity is more impressive and compelling than the silly, bougie critique by the author.

I loved almost all of these except for the Barbie leg one and the sunglasses display an a few others. I see no reason for them to be bad. Some of them might not work in a certain house or with a certain style but overall there great
