The popular characters have grown, Hawkins has been saved once again, and the portal to the Upside Down has been taken care of. At least for a little while. According to Rotten Tomatoes, the critics think that the third season of the show "transforms itself into a riveting -- if familiar -- summer ride that basks in its neon-laden nostalgia without losing sight of the rich relationships that make the series so endearing." However, not everyone thinks the popular TV show was that good. "Instead of reminding us of what we have lost, the show gets caught up in the kind of patriotic fantasies that adults love so much, things like romance and defeating communism in a mall with fireworks on the fourth of July," Aaron Bady wrote.

Shawn Levy, the exec producer of the show, sees each new set of episodes as "basically an eight-hour movie." According to Levy, season 3 is their most comedic and pop-y season yet, but it’s also their most cinematic and epic season. "It opens in the summer of ’85, filled with the idyllic nature of summer and adolescence in the ’80s, the fun of mall culture and young love, a world of innocence and promise. But as new threats are revealed — and there’s more than one in season 3, both supernatural and human — the season takes a turn toward darkness. And it is far creepier than anything we’ve done yet. It gets an epic scale in terms of action and emotion. By the end of Episode 8, it’s like a gut punch to the heart. I know I’m mixing metaphors with two body parts, but it’s a deeply emotional ending to the season," the filmmaker told Variety.
Each season I like this character even more! Hope he survives the final season

My only complaint with season 3 is that Will's role was pointless. Other than that, it was a great season!

Same except the fact that there was literally a monster made of human flesh, Hopper "died", Alexei died, Billy died after sacrificing himself in the name of Hawkins, his little sister who he actually really loves, despite all the stuff that went on over the course of the episode 8, season 2, and most/all of season f*****g 3. Let's not forget the fact that Mike was a total asshole to Will and Dustin, got dumped by his badass girlfriend, and Nancy also took Max's side in favor of his. I bet if Mike had stayed with Dustin with the whole Cerebro scenario, they all probably would've lived, solved the code even faster than Robin did BY HERSELF, and oh yeah, didn't practically DESTROY HIS FRIENDSHIP WITH WILL (Oh did I say he was a jerk to WIll?)! But yeah Season 3 was great.
I thought it was ok, but I really had trouble with the whole 'let's stop the action for ten minutes with 2 characters having a sudden heart to heart' . And as for the whole Neverending Story...WHAAAAAT?
I died laughing! Especially when they were in the car listening and the thing was chasing them.
My only complaint with season 3 is that Will's role was pointless. Other than that, it was a great season!
