The world without siblings wouldn’t be the same. If you’re the oldest child in the family like me, you know the price you pay for ordering the little one around. And if you’re the smallest in the pack, well, you probably know it better than me, anyway.
So in some ways, having a frenemy for life is both a blessing and sometimes a curse, but honestly, more of a blessing. Like, who else would you annoy the heck out of, or who else would you join a secret alliance with to sneak out to your friends when you know very well that you’d both be in trouble? Or who would you still say "don’t tell mom" to when you turn 50?
Siblings are for life, and these painfully spot-on sibling tweets selected by Bored Panda are proof that this life has more colors, shouting, and constant "can you lend me a (insert smth you don’t wanna lend but can’t refuse)?" moments.

To find out more about the complex dynamics of sibling relationships, Bored Panda reached out to Dr. Lise Deguire, a licensed psychologist and award-winning author of “Flashback Girl: Lessons on Resilience From a Burn Survivor.”
“When a child has a sibling, they learn from their earliest days that attention, love, and resources must be shared. Parents take care of both of them, so children have to learn to wait their turn, to share the cake, to take turns picking what to watch on TV.
”Turns out that these early lessons are the ones that help kids understand two crucial things: that other people matter and that other people have needs. “Kids with siblings also learn, early on, that they can wait now and then get what they want,” said Dr. Lise and added that “Generally, these are good life lessons for children to have.”
Or as one of my brothers would do “here hold this” and then walks away whilst leaving his rubbish for you to dispose of.
Been there. Done that. Now I can go to the bathroom in the complete darkness and still be ok.
However, sometimes, these lessons don't go so well. According to Dr. Lise, “if parents have clear favorites, or if one child gets a disproportionate share of attention, it can be very painful and lead to long-term feelings of being inadequate, inferior, or uncared for.”
In order to avoid this, Dr. Lise recommends for families to have repeated bonding traditions that actively include all the children. For example, “Dinner time, holiday traditions, family vacations, game night.” The licensed psychologist explained that “all these are bonding opportunities to help kids feel a part of the family, hopefully in an equal way.”
Or repeat a joke we just heard because we know the other one will laugh!
this is me and my brother when i'm in a zoom meeting, or doing homework, or drawing, or reading, or eating, or sleeping.......................
I did the same with my dad's car when I was a teenager. I don't think he knows to this day...
This is why a moderately harsh environment nurtures better individuals. How else would you come up (or research) sick burns if you're chummy with your siblings?
Got that with my sister. Me: Short, nearly black eyes, darker brown. Sister: Tall, obvious brown eyes, paler brown. Yep, not alike at all.
I got this a few times with my younger brother. We have even been asked if we are twins. Our birthday is the same day except I am 3 years older.
I have a fraternal twin, only our hair is the same color. The only similarity. Yet somehow, we are "so alike"
no no no. you got it all wrong. either it's an insult to me, or an insult to her. i obviously look better
I have a bonus kid (step daughter) that looks like my bio daughter. They get asked almost everywhere we go if they're twins. I giggle, they roll their eyes lol
I love the "Bonus kid" expression for a step relative that is not only "step" but part of the bunch.
Load More Replies...Our relationship was never obvious. But I am a carbon copy of my deceased mom. Freaks me out when people single me out at burials and know exactly who I am while I do not remember meeting them 20 years prior.
Me too. I'm nearly the same heaght of sis even thuothg I'm 2 yeaars older
We are both in our 60's now and look more alike. When we were kids and people would know right away we were sister's I never got it, we do not look similar. It was our mannerisms and how we spoke to each other. Even how we stood together. It's more than just looks.
fr, my sister and I are the same height, but that's literally it. My hair is like 2.5 feet long and dirty blonde, hers is around her collarbone and dark brown. We both have hazel eyes, but hers are more green and mine are more golden, and her eyelashes are prominent and long, while mine are medium length and thicker. We have different eye shapes. Her skin is darker than mine (by a LOT, she's more olive-toned and mine is basically Casper's sperm). Her face is longer than mine, and our mouth and lip shape AND color are completely different. Our noses are kind of similar, but mine is thinner at the bridge and more upturned. She's my height and is pretty skinny, with a rectangular body shape, and I'm heavier ("tHiCkEr BoNeD", as my dad likes to call it) with a square-y pear shaped figure. My legs are THICK, with a pretty even muscle-fat ratio and I have really thick ankles, and she has skinnier legs and a higher muscle ratio than fat. She has chubbier cheeks, while my cheekbones are a little more prominent.
My dad confuses my half-sister and I. Her: long dark brown hair, dark brown eyes, trendy style, a little chubby. Me: Short, light brown hair, green eyes, no style, skinny.
When i lose my sis at festivals i just ask people if they seen anyone who looks like me
This happens to me all the time, people always ask me and my brother if we're twins.
I’m an identical twin. Different personalities, hair, nose, smile, clothing style. I can understand messing us yo every now and again but we went through the entirety of school being “the twins”. I was never me and she was never herself. There needs to be some effort on other’s parts. 😂🤦🏻♀️
I think everyone who knew would mix up our names at least once, me and my sister, we don't really look alike and our styles are very different.
No, no you don’t. Something I have definitely experienced. Another one is my middle brother hiding around the corner with our universal remote sneakily changing the channels, volume or turning the tv off. Bloody rat bag.
I do this all the time. I'm about to pop at the seams but I'll eat just so my siblings won't finish it.
I tell the one being copied to just stay silent. The one who was copying will get bored in a few seconds.
Sometimes I feel like my parents give 99% of their love to my 5 year old brother and the other 3 of us fight for the last one percent

Also: there is a user my the name of Amelija Janavicius who is extremely racist and uses the N-word in every comment. She claims she works for BP and that’s why she isn’t blocked. I’m not sure how to report her, but if you do, please share! Finally, to the bots and trolls: I do not, I repeat DO NOT care if this comment is downvoted and/or hidden. Thank you.

I can’t even be in a room with my sibling without witnesses. You start to question your sanity and yourself when they are good at manipulation and spinning tales...we are better off taking care of ourselves than trying to repair broken relationships with awful people.
Load More Replies...All posts just reminds me how lucky I am to have grown up with a sibling.. simply can't imagine my life without having one..thanks mum and dad!
Well if you were an only child you wouldn't know what you were missing so you wouldn't care. Lol

Don't feel bad at all. I loved being an only child. Plus if you know thats all you can handle , you made the right choice 😁

I just lost my brother 2 days ago. I’m 57 and all he ever called me was “Kid”. ❤️💔❤️
LOL I am the youngest by a wide margin. My sister is 16 years older and my brother 13 years older... what really sucked was being no you couldn't do or have something because of something your sibling did like 10 years before you even thought of it! For example, we lived in the country and I asked for a horse.. nope because my brother and sister didn't take care of theirs that they had long before I was thought of. My brother and sister had their first car bought for by dad, I had to buy mine because they didn't take care of their cars...
So recently I (45F) was telling my brother (38M) about a hack about toothpaste on a mosquito bite to soothe the itch. He didn't believe me and thought I was trying to trick him into covering his body in toothpaste as a joke. I had to agree it is something I might do.
