89-Year-Old Japanese Grandma Discovers Photography, Can’t Stop Taking Hilarious Self-Portraits Now
Most people think that technology is for young people, but nobody told Kimiko Nishimoto that. She's an 89-year-old Japanese grandma who's been snapping and editing her own pictures for the last 17 years, and as you can see below, her style is certainly unique!
She didn't get into photography until she was 72 years old. Her son was teaching a beginner's course and so she decided to enroll, unaware that she was about to awake a passion and a talent she never even knew she had. She instantly fell in love with photography and set about snapping various quirky and comical self-portraits. She had her first solo exhibition ten years later, at a local museum in her home town of Kumamoto, and now she's about to have her work exhibited at Tokyo's Epson epsite imaging gallery. Titled “Asobokane" - meaning "let's play" - the exhibition will feature previously unseen work from the octogenarian artist, so if you happen to be in Tokyo between December 15, 2017 and January 18, 2018 then be sure to check it out. Some of these pictures are a little disturbing. She obviously isnt hurt but when I see a vehicle behind her I worry that one of these days, someone is going to get distracted looking at her and someone is gonna die. Love LOVE her pictures but not the ones where someone could get hurt.
To all the critics: she's an amateur photographer, so yeah, her work is a little uneven. SO WHAT??? She's having fun, she's making people laugh, and she has a museum exhibit. This is a lady with a great sense of humor. I'd love to hang out with her!

Japanese elders never cease to amaze me. They have so much energy and keep on trying on new things. I don't know if it's the "ikigai" philosophy or what, but bravo lovely lady :D
But a million times better than the usual random person copying celeb photos that we normally get on this site.

Due to very healthy life style, 89 yo is considered not so old for average Japanese, unlike most nations in the world.

"89 year old grandma DISCOVERS photography?" Right after that they say "...... snapping and editing her own pictures for the last 17 years. That means a 72 yr old grandma started taking pics, not an 89yr old. Doesn't sound to exciting, does it now? By the lack of people mentioning this in the comments, I guess I'm the only person who cares. It's sad we accept blatant lies in headlines now. BP has the worst, clickbaity writing. I need to learn to just look at the pretty pictures but I have no life so unfortunately I keep reading.
