Say what you want, but the brilliance of human creativity knows no limits and no bounds, after all, we even managed to get some folks right to the moon, and it's been how many years since then?

Still, whether it's crafting next-level rocket tech at Space X or NASA or even whipping up some handy home hacks, human genius admittedly just keeps on giving... But let's be real here, not every invention needs to revolutionize our existence; sometimes, just making day-to-day life a bit easier does the trick... mostly speaking.

A subreddit by the name of r/RedNeckEngineering is a very good example of that. Why, you might think? Well, the charm is in the motto: "if it looks dumb but works, then it's not dumb."

This is redneck engineering at it's finest! Redneck engineering is usually ingenious and resourceful in the vein of a wannabe MacGyver. That is, unless it involves alcohol, explosives, or a combination thereof. Then, it usually devolves quickly onto the list of really dumb ways to die.

My Father-in-Laws friend had the same thing happen to him. He found a paperclip and fit it back together. He didn't think to bend the paperclip around or down, so he walked around with an unfolded paperclip sticking up the side of his face for months. I still giggle when I think about it.

As we mentioned previously, at r/RedNeckEngineering, they’ve really got a knack for making things work with whatever’s lying around... So it's no surprise really that It’s the go-to spot for anyone who’s ever used a little elbow grease and some random bits to fix something up. Like picture a backyard setup held together with nothing but bricks and boards—that’s the kind of thing you’d see here.

I've worked long hours in beating sun, and I always covered my head, neck, and upper back with an old white t-shirt ripped to form a triangle that I'd tie around my head and let dangle to mid-back. The key is to wet it and keep it wet.

So yeah, say what you want but these people are the heroes of the quick fix, turning a simple paper bag into a sun shield or using pliers when they’ve lost the proper part for their car battery. They’re the people who look at a problem and say, “I can sort that out,” with whatever’s in the toolbox—or the kitchen drawer because it's all about creativity at the end of the day.

My husband needs added to his wheelchair they always use stuff where he can't go anywhere. He would be thrilled to be able to get up a curb. They make the wheelchairs like he never needs or wants to leave the house. Seriously his chair cost as much as a car and he can't even get up a curb without potentially falling out.

We believe you already understood, but let's make the point clear—It’s all about that “get it done” spirit. Like, say, someone needs a hat to block out the sun, and all they’ve got is construction foam? No problem, they make it into a hat. Or when someone’s got to keep a car battery connected, and all they’ve got is an old pair of pliers and some wire? They just make it work, no questions asked.

I read an article about antenna design awhile back (can't find the source now) and it said it doesn't need to be neat, it just needs to cover a large area. A large, messily scrunched up ball of wire will work just as well as half a dozen neat rods.

I liked certain college radio stations that introduced new music, but getting them in could be sketchy, esp. in bad weather. A DYI antennae was a must.

I do this on every keyboard I have. Except I use little squares of the "scratchy" half of Velcro so it's dead easy to feel.

It's for touch typing. If you're a decent typist who doesn't need to look at the keyboard while typing, the bumps are landmarks to help you keep track of where your fingers are.

They do! My current keyboard has small raised lines on the F and J keys. They serve as a reference point for touch typing. I don't really use them as I tend to quickly look back and forth between the screen and the keys, but there are people who don't need to look at all.

Since I watch things on my TV via a computer connection, I have to use the keyboard in the dark. So, I covered the keys most used/necessary with correction fluid. It wears down, I reapply.

Put either cheese or beans at the bottom. Get to the top add sour cream, ranch dressing ,avacado/guacamole. Get the picture. Now you need nothing to hold your tacos. For young kids fold bottom up, sides over wrap with foil if necessary.

The esky (cooler box) looks like a six pack one. So not very big. Side note these sort of coolers don't work that well and they tend to raise the humidity over time which just adds to the problem.

I'm actually much more concerned that they've rigged up a 120V receptacle with 220V service. I've done it myself (for temporary purposes) but I'm an engineer.

I am curious how you can tell it is a 120V receptacle. The outlets in the Philippines are 220 and they look just like our (USA) 110s on the outside. Here in the USA a 220 looks different on the pin orientation but not everywhere.

Man, during the very height of covid I went to pick up my prescriptions and some lady was allowed to stand at the vitamins and clear her throat constantly. I made a comment and she claimed to have two doctorates so she knew that masks keep you from breathing. Doctor, it was 1 in the afternoon and you hadn't changed your shirt in a couple days. I have a few doubts.

It's fine, if a bit awkward. The air filters on cpap machines are just to catch dust / hairs / lint from getting into the fan mechanism. they are not really for filtering the air you are breathing. The filters on both of my cpap machines are just tiny rectangles of poly filter. No blue plastic frame like the one in the photo. I get new ones with the other consumable parts (mask, hose) but I could easily cut my own out of any basic filter material.

This would be a quick death, better than many other kinds of traps. If you've had a mouse infestation you'll know that there's really no other option besides killing them, unless you're committed to trapping them, then driving miles away from homes and releasing the mice. Oh, and if you're using a trap you need to get the mice out of the trap within a few hours or they'll die of dehydration. So, yeah, all things considered, electrocution is not a terrible option.

This method is not only cruel, it also doesn't work. Mice and rats will not be killed, only injured.

If he's running 240v and doesn't have a safety switch I reckon they'll be killed for sure. I'd also be worried someone else (or the dog) would touch it and get zapped too.
