@Joshua Brenneman first of all please state your opinion in a more respectful way, second of all you would need those, because each means a different thing, and everybody should have the freedom to choose what they want to be called when people are referring to them. Correct me if I'm wrong?

I think beyond he/she/they it would just be simplest to call the person by their name "Jo just left", "Lee is my best friend". Every person all ready has their own noun, and if you know them enough to know they prefer ze, you know what their name is - just use that instead of pronouns.

Not that hard?!?!?! Dude, what does Ze, Xe, and Fae even mean? If people want those pronouns that's fine but if you go up to any random person on the street very few of them are gonna know what "Ze, Xe, and Fae".

Besides whatever Elon Musk is saying, the pronouns are about a very subtle discussion. I don't think anyone can claim pronouns, changes in language are given by the masses. The discussion on transsexuality etc is not about pronouns but about being who you want to be and the rest of the world leaving you at it. But. That goes only as long as what you want to be has no further influence on daily lives. And this is important. Within that discussion, even people who feel they are affected themselves can't find one point of view (because they focus on their personal situation). I don't like forcing the world around you to jump through hoops if all you want is to be accepted as a person. Acceptance does not come through making up an imaginary perfect world and claiming that be the only real place. Acceptance is a two way street. How in the world is anyone able to know what pronouns to use if there is no clear distinction? The answer is simple, we stop differentiating completely. But that's my two cents that I just hope will be the future.

@David, I’m sorry for your loss. I don’t tell people who are transgender congratulations until they completly transition healthily. It is hell that he was going through, partly because people told him that he was invalid. You went through a terrible thing, yet you still decide to make others hurt, that’s what I don’t understand. Sorry, but unfortunately the world we live in is that even when your life is hell and you feel terrible you don’t get to treat others badly, as you did. Maybe I am a freak, but I can’t change that. Yes it is sad. Sad that others decide to get so butthurt that they decide to do something that could cause someone to k1ll themeself instead of accepting it even though it doesn't really affect them at all and they dont have the right to tell me who I am and who I'm not. And dont avoid it, really, tell me how does this directly affect you. imo this doesn't make you any better than that incident with quvenzhané wallis, where a journalist was like "can i just call you annie?". elon's kid's name IS dumb and actually unpronounceable, but neopronouns have legitimate uses, and to say that you won't use them just shows that you don't care. if you can call someone by their name, or remember to use , for example, he or they when the person in question really looks to you like a she, then you can use their neopronouns of choice.

The problem isn’t language though. If ze and xe end up getting proper usages then everyone will use them. The problem is that any individual can just make something up and start demanding that other people use it. There’s no proper usage for some of the things people make up, and they strictly apply to one person. That’s like asking someone to participate in your own cosplay and it isn’t right. If you don’t like he or she, then the perfect alternative is to be called “they.” You don’t just make things up and start asking people to remember each and every singular individual person’s request when often times the requests aren’t even gender based (like phleemself etc).

@Mewton neopronouns have existed for thousands of years. Many many genders have been used before recorded time. We aren’t making it up. ‘Oh people just keep making up new names. If you have a girl name them Jessica. If you have a boy name them Dave. If you want a gender neutral name then Adrian will do just fine. how about you just respect the pronouns people choose and stop being, you know, a bigot, AND insensitive, and just a little lazy. if it's in a text situation, the pronouns are often right there where you can be reminded of them, in case you forget, and if it's someone you encounter irl, just politely ask them about the pronouns if you forget, and then either they pass out of your life or stick around long enough for you to remember. i don't imagine anyone who uses rarer pronouns will be terribly interested in hanging around you for long, though.

If you can’t accept that you are a human person (which is identified easily with “they / them”) then that’s your own problem. I go by she and if someone called me “they” i would find that acceptable.
