Special occasions call for a special kind of photographer, and few occasions are more special than your wedding day. You do, after all, only get one of them (well, that's the idea anyway) and so the photographer needs to capture anything and everything as perfectly as possible in order to preserve your perfect day. No, it shows what proper lighting will do to change an image. If he had only used the ambient light it would look roughly the same as the before picture. Using different light allows for different exposures to be achieved. I'm willing to bet that this image was created 99% in camera.

It's not the same background. This "final" pic is not the shot he is taking in the "set-up". Look at the grass along the fence, the width of the water.. .? No? Anyone?

Actually its not a lot of altering. The change in ISO settings and shutter speed plus the light on the couple (that you can see behing the photographer in the first shot) creates this effect.

WHY ALL HE HATE? BECAUSE I T MAY BE MANIPULATED IT IS WRONG? BECAUSE IT IS NOT HOW YOU WOULD APPROACH IT IS WRONG? BECAUSE THEY MAY HAVE USED PS OR LR IT IS NOT BEAUTIFUL? ONE EVEN CALLED IT EVIL AND A DISGRACE!! LET'S FACE IT, THE ART FORM HAS EVOLVED PERIOD. IT MAY NOT BE YOUR STYLE SO GET OVER YOURSELVES. IBLOWSHEEP YOU DO REALIZE THIS TWO IMAGES ARE SHOT BY 2 DIFFERENT SHOOTERS, CAMERAS, ANGLES, LENSES, WB, FLASH AND EXSPOSURES, YES? DOES EVERYONE HAVE TO BE A STREET PHOTOGH WITH LITTLE (DODGE & BURN) TO NO EDITING? PERHAPS THIS PHOTOG DOES HAVE IMAGES LIKE THESE IN THEIR GALLERY? Lovely shot. It's 100% HDR edited even if the togger did capture the darker ambiance with the off camera flash and an ND filter the sky contrast and pop of the dress is 100% edited. You can see as he/she missed a bit of masking on the 2nd gap in the fence in from the left, 2nd row down. It's lighter than the sky above and the cross bar on the gap above has a halo where the mask wasn't close enough. Still a alush photo though and I'm only picking because people getting stroppy over whether it's HDR processed or not.....go ahead and pick my work apart. Search for "Justin Krause" x

Nuh-uh, that gap in the fence and the halo are just areas where the cloud layer is thinner, just as right above the fence.

Simple under-exposure, and light added. Very little post-processing involved. Nicely done.

I love this. I was never filthier than when I was doing photography. I love that this series shows what lengths a good photographer will go to in order to get that one sweet shot that just would not happen otherwise.

I'm a wedding photographer in Western Australia. I've smashed my shin on a barely visible bench at dawn once (and jumped over it somehow so save myself), stood on bins, fences and wobbly tables, climbed trees, walked barefoot on sharp rocks and many more... Lying on the ground is softcore ;) I'll do whatever it takes to get a great shot :)

Hard Work? Really!? Photography is not hard work. Framing a house, digging for coal , running a marathon is hard work. Cliche photography anyway. Corn ball stuff. Nice but corn ball.

how to be a crackerjack wedding photographer: 1. get low down on the ground, preferably in mud or something unpleasant. 2. Climb up something tall. Bonus points for hanging precariously over a precipice.

This is how we photographers work. We're lying in the mud, climbing the trees, standing on the edge of a cliff, just to get the perfect picture :)

It could have been captured using a low tripod tethered to a computer screen. Just notice the actual scene, he has shot himself !

Some of the pictures looked awesome. I admire the length that photographers are willing to go to get that perfect shot. That being said, I wish we saw more of the "after" photos. Having started this list with seeing the "results" photos then not showing any more was disappointing. They shouldn't have even been here.
