Our cats go nuts over twist ties from a bread bag. They both play with them until they get lost under the fridge. Once in awhile we move the fridge out and kick out all the twist ties and the cats go nuts

I snip off the very tips of my cats claws. We have a scratching post also but she has a tendency to try hitting the dog in the eye and I REALLY don't want a blind puppy. But again I just snip off the super sharp tips of them NEVER like cut them short.
