I am Vernessa Himmler, an illustrator, and sand-artist based in Hamburg, Germany. Since early 2013 I have worked as a freelance illustrator, and one of my recent illustration projects is a series of funny comics that show people the hilarious and crazy life of being a silly cat owner.

I’ve been drawing since my childhood and received a masters degree in illustration from HAW Hamburg - Design Department. Over the years I have developed my own visual language, which consists of realistic fine drawings and modern coloration. I started drawing my kitty cat comics only two years ago, inspired by my two cute cats Mikosch and Koschka, who I adopted from a local animal shelter a few years back.

I began creating these funny drawings on Instagram to share my life as a crazy cat lady and the awkward moments of my two funny cats, and while many of my comics depict the headaches cats can bring, they are still such wonderful pets. My favorite thing about cats is the moment when they want your attention (for a cuddle or something else), it makes you extremely happy when they chose to come to you on their own!

Scroll down below to see some of my cute drawings from a day in the life of a cat owner and for all the cat parents out remember, you don’t own your cat, your cat owns you!"

One of the many sounds - the other one is the fridge door where the cream is kept.

Yep. The other day I just shook the bowl to cover the spot and it was accepted by the queen of the house.

Sometimes all three of my cats will all be staring at the same dark corner. It creeps me out.

I snip off the very tips of my cats claws. We have a scratching post also but she has a tendency to try hitting the dog in the eye and I REALLY don't want a blind puppy. But again I just snip off the super sharp tips of them NEVER like cut them short.

Only one of our cats needs this doing and the first paw is fine then she thinks better of it! So it takes me a week to do all paws.

I am currently having this fun. I have to keep waiting until he dozes off on me & then get as many as I can before he notices. Either that or get used to shredded clothes from his claws getting stuck & shredded me from when he kneads me.

We snip the very tips of our cat's nails off, and then we place rubber claw caps on them as she has a really bad habit of scratching on things that AREN'T her scratching post. We have leather furniture, so it's a no go. I don't want to stop her from naturally needing to stretch, but the caps protect her and protect the furniture... as well as us. She likes to swipe at us, and even with tip-cut claws, they are still sharp and will hurt us and draw blood. She's mean to the dog as well, so we have to take that power aware from her.

and the caps naturally come off as her nail naturally grows and sheds. And she's able to still scratch at her posts and other approved scratching things as she feels like it. We just replace it with a new one whenever she sheds one naturally.

So true! But then I have the added hell of getting the kitty caps on their nails after I cut them.

Why cut a cat's claws? With a scratching post they take care of themselves. We've got two cats, and would never even think of cutting their claws.

My cats use their scratching posts and let me tell you....that's not enough. We need to cut their claws. Those things are horrible, deadly, blades.

If I lift my youngest, she will look everywhere except where the spider is, eventhough she was meowing while on the ground. Duh

Or the other person gets all mad because you are comparing an "animal" to a human...well that animal is my child and gets treated as such and honestly I feel like all pet owners should treat their pets as a family member. The o lot exception there is a working animal BUT even those get treated incredibly well.
