I am Vernessa Himmler, an illustrator, and sand-artist based in Hamburg, Germany. Since early 2013 I have worked as a freelance illustrator, and one of my recent illustration projects is a series of funny comics that show people the hilarious and crazy life of being a silly cat owner.
I’ve been drawing since my childhood and received a masters degree in illustration from HAW Hamburg - Design Department. Over the years I have developed my own visual language, which consists of realistic fine drawings and modern coloration. I started drawing my kitty cat comics only two years ago, inspired by my two cute cats Mikosch and Koschka, who I adopted from a local animal shelter a few years back.
I began creating these funny drawings on Instagram to share my life as a crazy cat lady and the awkward moments of my two funny cats, and while many of my comics depict the headaches cats can bring, they are still such wonderful pets. My favorite thing about cats is the moment when they want your attention (for a cuddle or something else), it makes you extremely happy when they chose to come to you on their own!

One of the many sounds - the other one is the fridge door where the cream is kept.
Sometimes all three of my cats will all be staring at the same dark corner. It creeps me out.
Doesn't always work the way we want it, they have other plans. Do you think they do it deliberately?
I know some cat oners that do not have any rugs because of that... Easier to clean the cat puke.

At least if they threw up in one place, but my cat likes to leave an entire trail. And she does it because she gobbles fast, without chewing.
Just a little fact, cats don't chew their food like we humans do (as in grinding food almost into paste before swallowing), they rather break their food into bits just small enough so they can swallow without choking. So if the brand of food you buy already comes into small enough pieces, it might be the reason why your cat gobbles it fast, try switching to a brand with bigger pieces ? Though changing brand might still cause some vomitting/diarrhea for a short while since they might not be used to it.

I am wondering if I should refrigerate my kitty's left over can of food? It doesn't eat it all at once, so I save the rest for later. He barfs a lot, so making it cold does that? I'm scared to leave it on the counter for hours. Bacteria and stuff...
I always put the leftovers in the fridge. My cat doesn’t throw up a lot, so maybe it’s not the cold food? Could be something else?

You gotta switch out the food gradually lol. We had to do that when our cat's preferred dry food went out of stock at Target in town (that's the only place we could find it). So we got her a sensitive stomach blend from Hill Science (our dog is on the same brand and we get coupons now from them, plus we thought it would help ease her in). We had to gradually introduce the new food in with her old food because she will deliberately vomit it up after gleefully eating it.

I snip off the very tips of my cats claws. We have a scratching post also but she has a tendency to try hitting the dog in the eye and I REALLY don't want a blind puppy. But again I just snip off the super sharp tips of them NEVER like cut them short.

Or the other person gets all mad because you are comparing an "animal" to a human...well that animal is my child and gets treated as such and honestly I feel like all pet owners should treat their pets as a family member. The o lot exception there is a working animal BUT even those get treated incredibly well.
We get fur round the door of the washing machine from the clothes and have to remove it

I can relate to a lot of these. Right now I have two cats, littermate sisters - possibly half-sisters. They were real buddies until recently, then they started fighting. At least I am in a two-story townhouse so one stays upstairs and one downstairs.
I can relate to a lot of that I have a 7year one cat called angle she's a little devil
So cute and accurate. I actually laughed out loud at some, which is something I rarely do.
That's so sad, you must miss them terribly. Are there any pets you aren't allergic to?
