Look, who said that every film director, screenwriter, every producer, all the managers and staff members think through all the little and more obvious details when making a movie? Well, nobody actually promised that, but it’s sort of a no-brainer.
The reality is often different, though. Take The Dark Knight, Avengers, Home Alone, The Return of the Jedi and many of our other all-time favorite films, scroll through this online Reddit community, and face the fact that far from everything there is picture perfect, let alone makes sense.
So today we’re diving into the worst, cringiest, most illogical, and ‘what on earth were they thinkin’’-kind of movie details that give the words ‘bad’ and ‘not smart’ a whole new meaning. Psst! Part 1 awaits right here around the corner!

Funnily enough, the first king in Narnia was a cabbie of unknown race. (The Magician's Nephew) There are also other kingdoms in Narnia that are not British that have royalty, and their own religions. (A Horse and His Boy). Of course, if you're going off the movies, you see none of that.

So in order to find out how even the most loyal film watchers miss some of these Easter eggs and what’s the significance behind them, we spoke with Lisa Yaszek, a Regents Professor of Science Fiction Studies at Georgia Tech, where she researches and teaches science fiction as a global language crossing centuries, continents, and cultures.
“Even the most loyal film watchers miss some Easter eggs because directors know that the hunt is half the fun! The more you rewatch a film, the more you’ll see and appreciate all the hard, detailed labor that goes into it.
”The professor said that she, for example, has watched the Alien films a million times. Moreover, she teaches gender studies, “so you’d think I’d be the perfect person to catch the reference to Alien in Aliens—especially since it appears in a file about one character’s gendered medical history! But I never noticed it until now—and it makes me want to go back to see if there are any other cool references or connections in similar scenes.”

There is no technology that is developed in imperial. Some standard sizes are in inches, and to keep it all compatible, this still is practiced, but no one in his daily life would miss calculating 15/32 and the like whenever anything is measured. Metric is just the superior system, end of.

Mel Brooks originally wanted to name the movie "Black Bart." Frankie Lane, who sang the theme song for the film with his iconic voice, had no idea that the movie was going to be a spoof, as he was only given the film title as background to the title tune. There are/were? plans to bring a musical version to the stage in the vein of "The Producers" and "Young Frankenstein."

It was some light mindless and unpretentious fun. I wasn't disappointed, but indeed I would have preferred if it weren't made with the same formula of the first one, with a reversal of roles, but essentially, it's pretty much alike the first one, just with a different skin and less depth. Would have preferred something different, like, another episode of our beloved hero.

I know the purpose of this thread is jokes, but this is an opportunity for clarifying common confusion: Bison are found in North America and Europe. There are no bison in Africa, where lions are. A similar looking creature, the Cape buffalo, can be found predominantly in Southern and East Africa, so they could have used these grumpy looking beasts (they look similar, but are not the same species). The wildebeest, also called the gnu, is an antelope in the genus Connochaetes native to Eastern and Southern Africa. The filmmakers were smart enough to know that they should choose animals which live on the same continent as the main characters, and probably realised that American viewers would confuse buffalo for bison and be like "what, this is happening in the Old West, now?", so they chose something that didn't look too similar.

I had to walk 20 miles uphill in both ways, while carrying my little brother Tim who weighed 150 LBS. And that was in summer, in winter it was 30 miles with no shoes. And when we got home we were allowed to sit in the freezer because that was the warmest place in the house.
