Thirst trapping or fishing for compliments, whatever you want to call it, people on social media are constantly using their posts to seek validation from the public and it's a dangerous game.
While some people who display this kind of behavior are genuinely just insecure, according to Dr.George Simon, PhD of "Ask The Psych," others may do it to manipulate others into paying them recognition. The following is a collection of people who went out looking for praise on the internet but forgot that nobody is safe in the web universe. Scroll through these bold photos and captions and read the brutal responses they received and don't forget to upvote your faves!

I see a lot of Twitter surveys asking if Trump is the best POTUS ever. The answer never goes the supporters way - just today I saw one that was 70% against.
It completely depends on those you follow on Twitter. I'm pro Trump, and every survey of the same kind on my feed shows over 90% for Trump.
Load More Replies...Sorry dude. Attention seeking behaviors are kind of a big turn off.
He's ugly on the inside for being randomly aggressive to some person he went to school with for no reason. How the hell does he know she was never picked on? Also what if she just thinks she was unstylish and now she feels stylish cause she can do her make up like an Instagramer? This is such a dumb screenshot.
Load More Replies...The "after" pic shows significant amounts of artfully applied makeup - I mean, look at the eyebrows and contouring....She has even applied contouring to her collar bones...
For most people getting older comes with losing beauty. She's no exception.
just because you went to the same school it doesn't mean you know everything that was said to someone. Maybe she went fishing for a compliment but his reaction was really not necessary.
Maybe she isn't beautiful and she knows he's just trying to sweet talk his way into her pants? Maybe she's just uncomfortable with his compliment about her appearance. A little context would be nice. Doesn't sound like she's fishing for compliments at all simply because she openly disagrees with what he's saying.
Ugh. Neediness and external loci of affirmation really don't do it for me.
Guys are attracted to more than looks. My sister was a heavy person all her life. She restored her own 71 Duster. Dropped the engine in herself, got the transmission rebuilt and installed it herself. Got it painted Candy Apple Red and got chromed wheels, bumpers, trim and a new sound system. Every time the guys would see it, they'd asked her who she got to restore it..she'd say "I did it myself" and would start running down the list of what she did to the car. She might as well have been talking porn to these guys, they were so turned on.
Lol. Also, the ugliest girls still get hit on because SOME men (or women too) just don’t care about looks. They’ll hit on anyone until they find someone willing to sleep with them.
And such fashionable swimming trunks on the guy in the background!
If I was her friend I'd be pretty insulted. Speak for yourself mole, and stop calling me ugly
All those pixelated faces give a "witness protection" vibe to the posts.
Fun fact: Colposingquanonia is a word that means measuring a woman's attractiveness by the size of her breasts.
That IS fun! The word. I have no need to measure breasts beyond the pair on myself.
Load More Replies...Yeah, not gonna lie, I'd be pretty proud of myself if I had a body like that 😂
Load More Replies...This one isn’t like the others. Duh it’s a bikini pic, but she’s just saying she got new glasses too. Haters gonna hate.
she can show those "sunglasses" every day. I am a woman, i am married but i love the sight of a beautiful woman. Or a man but i find the feminine body much more artistic. Her curves are so beautiful...Her breasts seem to be perfect. Thanks for sharing lol.
...BRUH I'm 220 lbs (I'm working on losing fat and building muscle, so please dont come at me)
When skinny girls call themselves fat I think to myself my God if they're fat they must think I'm a whale
Exercise doesn't always help, neither do diets, some people are heavily built and even starvation won't do anything except make things worse.
Honey, I am well over twice your size. While I am blessed to be healthy while being morbidly obese (constantly struggling) when some who is still way below my dream weight complaining, it makes me roll my eyes so hard, I'm afraid I may pull a muscle!
What’s your dream weight though? Lol. I’m like 147 now and I complain sometimes. Mainly though, I learned this year that everyone should shut up with the complaining and just hit the gym. It really works, quickly!
Load More Replies...But exercise will make you weigh more! If you do it right. But that's a good thing. :)
True. But usually you lose before you gain. For a woman at least.
Load More Replies...Seriously? Who blured their faces on big pic but left the miniature, which is made from the same picture?
b***h is using the friend she thinks is less attractive (because she's bigger) to make herself feel good while pretending that the friend got hit on the most, knowing people will say she did
I like Charm. I'd love to have him as a friend. He has his priorities straight, especially when dealing with a narcissistic person like her.
what mini pic the comments pic thuings cuz they are blurred too so..... which mini pics ????
"Hey look! There's a big one! Oh it's a troll. My ego and narcissism just got hurt. Ouch."
Load More Replies...Would be nice if the last comment was "PERRY: Fine, I'll admit it, you are ugly".
Why would you even lie about something like that?! How despicable of a human being are you?!
When I used to frequent Pogo.com, we had a lady that would always come in and tell us how she had cancer and six kids. She was looking to have someone take care of her kids and was soliciting people in the chat rooms to take them. Funny thing was, the number and ages of her kids kept changing drastically and her "cancer" had been recently diagnosed, then she was diagnosed two years ago, then it happened just last week. We followed her from room to room copying the conversations and calling her out on the lies until Pogo Admin shut her down. She was just a con trying to get people to send her money.
Load More Replies...The person talking about curing cancer with juice was either actually trying to help (which I find ridiculous) or an impressive troll
I vote latter. And this kid will find in life what we verbally mock will come home to roost!
Load More Replies...I was on a mobile chat board where ages ranged from ~9-adult. One of the 15yo boys decided to fake his death one evening, impersonating his brother posting "from the hospital." Naturally the other teens freaked out, while the adults called bs. I will say, I was impressed (not in a good way) that he stuck to his story that night. He kept his ruse up for 2 full days before finally coming clean, and we adults all let him have it, while the teens blindly forgave him. In his apology pm to me, he said that he wanted to know how people would react to his dying. The adults who had been his friends didn't have much to do with him after that incident.
There is a psychological disorder called Munchausen Syndrome where people pretend to be gravely ill to get sympathy, but that is not nearly as bad as Munchausen by Proxy which is deliberately making a loved one, such as a child, ill by such means as feeding them poison.
If NO ONE wants to go out with you, then YOU are the problem, not them. There are a lot of people who are objectively unattractive who are happily married.
I don't see how people "got more than they asked for" in 90% of these. What a pointless article...
Some of them are harmless probs posted by young 12-13 year olds who need to put down the mirror and pick up a book but the one where the skinny girl poses with the curvy girl and says “we are so hott, guess who got hit on the most” that’s fishing for compliments and a butt whooping because you know what you’re doing. Drawing attention to yourself by playing off someone else’s insecurity’s.
I think people who are fishing for compliments are often insecure, so being nasty about it, is probaly not very helpful in stopping this behaviour.
Internet is a strange place. Post this under "Insecure teenage girls are looking to boost their self-confidence online, and here's how people react" and you'll get a flock of people defending their every posture because unique, special, we all need attention sometimes, wouldn't dream of hurting someone's self esteem etc etc. But call it fishing for compliments and "oof they got what they deserved!" :P
