for what its worth, the reason that lawsuit happened is because McD's was found negligent for superheating coffee in order to hold it longer. They handed someone a cup of near boiling coffee and she was burned badly in her *lap* area. It wasn't simply a case of duh coffee is hot. The story has been co opted by corporate interests to try to steer the blame from negligent practice to make it seem like it was frivolous; it wasn't.

I have been staring at the photo for a long minute, then understood and laughed for like a 5 minutes.

The lawsuit that spawned this was when there was clear evidence that a McDonald's ignored customers complaints of their coffee being actually scalding hot. I have two neighbors from Canada and they are "sue" and "legal action" happy! If something isnt going their way, they threaten lawsuits. They have caused our Hoa fees to rise from $300 a year to $1600 in the course of one year to cover all the neighborhood legal fees.

even coffee, or any hot beverage, without "superheating" is hot enough to cause pain and damage... just use common sense and becareful instead of trying to blame someone else

If a McD employee didn’t straight up and poured the hot beverage on the women’s lap it stays frivoous in my opinion. If she picked the friggen thing up she should’ve felt it was hot. Dont go puttng it in your lap and then go scream my legs are on fire pay me some money.

American money being all the same colour DOES screw me up. It's not that I CAN'T read them, it's that it's way easier to pay for something quickly when you DON'T HAVE TO. Also, this is another thing where the U.S. is the odd one out, since most of the money I've ever seen from other countries is also in different coloured bills.
