Considering the facts Socrates complained about books ruining society, I think this is just a generational thing. Everyone complains about new stuff, no exceptions.
When my dad was a kid he would spend a lot of time outside playing technology free games. His parents spent as little time with him as they could manage. He'd play things like "tie a hammer on a rope and everyone would jump over it." When someone had their ankle shattered they weren't allowed to play anymore.Whoever got hit lost. Or "melt plastic and run your hand under it without getting burned." The person who got burned lost. I'm not saying technology is never bad. But before smartphones people still ignored their kids and people still did stupid things.
Sooooo sad, but true. BUT - when I walk dogs at 2am, I have help a fingertip away - when I chore after trudging through snowdrifts - I have help just that quick.
