It is probably impossible to find a food that everyone loves, there will always be someone who hates it with all their heart. Even the most common things that a lot of recipes may contain. It is interesting how different people can eat the same thing, but have a different reaction to the taste or even perceive it differently.

Even though the Latin maxim says that there is no point in disputing tastes, people love to give their opinions on food. Reddit user jamboamericano wanted to know people’s opinions on foods that are hyped up but “quite simply suck.” They received 3k responses so take a look at the most popular ones that quite a lot of people agreed on.

Consistently mediocre, albeit overpriced. If I go there for a cup of tea, I know about what I'm going to get for four bucks. In most locations, most of the year, I can order white hot chocolate with peppermint and cinnamon, and get as much. It's a safe bet.

Like a lot of shellfish, it has to be fresh from the ocean. If you have it in a tank at the supermarket where they just sit there it's not worth it. Back on PEI, Canada; 70% of houses are having fresh lobster on Mother's Day right off the boat. Can't beat it.

But...no. quite the contrary. That's the reason why I stick TO Nutella!: the Nutella making company is literally the one which started the "good" palm oil manufacturing, with ethical norms, work safety inspections, sustainable farming, closely monitored and everything!!! Once some environmentalists started some kind of shaming them for the use of "bad palm oil" on the internet, company invited them to the fields, letting them inspect whatever they wished for & interviewing whoever worker they met.... in the end the activists backpedaled and apologised. 😍.

As a child it was rare and expensive (Eastern part of Germany, after reunification). Like, I was aaaalways admonished to eat less, only a little on a bun.... so, 20years later I got 2 Nutella-addicted step children (very healthy, fit and un-sweet otherwise, tyvm), and a SO who admonished them not to eat it with a spoon, yadda yadda yum... For Christmas I gave each of my step kids (13/14-ish then) a big jar of Nutella, their names written on it ("xy's property", death skull...) and attached a spoon. " Eat as much as you want to. It's yours." They inhaled theirs, and still (almost 10years later) they brag about it among their peers. And yes, they reduced their intake themselves, and everyone, SO as well, had to giggle if any spoon came near the next Nutella container for years to come. The only problem I have with Nutella is convincing myself not to consume 2000 cals in a single sitting. As I have no self control it stays in the supermarket.

There are many similar spreads in different countries of Europe, some much better than the original.

I was in Chicago over the weekend and the longest line of all was outside the Nutella store.

It’s too sweet, yet not chocolaty enough or hazel nutty enough.

Avocados are one of my most favorite things in the world. Guacamole is so good. Avocado with a little apple cider vinegar & olive oil... pinch of salt ..... Aaahhh, I'm making myself hungry!

Shrimp is pretty cool if it's cooked well. Not overcooked and not drenched in seasoning. With most of these you just got to cook it lightly with minimal additions to keep the true taste.

Seafood. It stinks, it looks gross, and every time I've been convinced to try it it's been rank. My husband and I have agreed many times that we'd have to be starving to death before we ever considered seafood as a meal. I do not understand how anybody can enjoy it. It creates a visceral negative reaction in me.

I love seafood, but I'm careful where I source it. No dodgy diner seafood, please.

People Are Joining This Thread Ranting About Overhyped Foods They Don't Understand And Here Are 34 Of Them I don't think it sucks but I don't get why popcorn is so cherished. I don't like the flavor, the texture, or the f*****g kernels that get stuck in my teeth. The smell is always terrible to me and it lingers. But what I really hate is having to explain to people offering it to me that I actually don't like popcorn, no, I really don't, yes, even that type, yes it's a popular snack, no, I really don't like it.

I absolutely adore have popcorn sweet and salty being my favourite, I just hate the kernels, because they always get stuck in my teeth. I would love to find the special popcorn without kernels
