I'm surprised how many people in the West have now accepted the fact that Christianity is a hoax. I wonder when will others following their own religion in other places realize this? They keep on blindly following it even if it hurts them.

Not all. What about Buddhism? And many Other Eastern and Native based religions are not paternalistic and domineering like the AAbrahamaic, like Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, either.

All the words you used are how people twist the words of the Bible to fit their own cruel desires. It's possible to be Christian & a good person. I believe in God & Jesus, but I'm part of the LGBTQ community, I participated in BLM marches & protests last year, I have friends of other religions who I never think less of or try to convert, & I fully believe in science & medicine. At the same time, I am not blind to the horrible things people have done in the name of religion. But that does not mean the religion itself is a hate cult. I use my religion as a source of love & inspiration when things are tough. I don't use it to make things tough for others. I don't care if people call the Bible ficion because religion is a matter of faith & people can believe whatever they want. But claiming the religion itself is bad instead of the people who use it for evil isn't fair to those who live by what the Bible ACTUALLY says.

Sure, people can believe that stuff and be good, but they would be even better if they were just good and didn't believe in silly stuff. Sometimes really good people do terrible things BECAUSE of their silly and harmful beliefs, not because they just misinterpreted them.

Well said. And the gathered stories of the Koran, Bible, and Torah are fabulous moral guides covering almost every human situation and behavior. Many have truly ancient origins from Egypt & back even earlier. It’s quite possible to learn from sll the world’s religions without devolving into twisting the words (or following what has been twisted ~~after all, over the last 5-6,000 years, they have been retranslated, rewritten, and used for political reasons many times….variations of the 10 Commandments are found in EVERY texts of religion, back to the Vedas. If people read more and took advantage of the present amazing ability of technology to communicate with others instead of hating or fearing those they have never met, imagine how much better the short time we as individuals live would be!

I appreciate your thoughtful comment here, Sleazy, so I'm not going to downvote it even though I disagree with your assessment of what the bible "actually" says. I don't give religious people in my family a hard time about it because I know religion can be a source of love and inspiration, but you're either evil yourself or willfully ignorant if you think the book of Leviticus is something to aspire to.

I always think it’s so interesting how many “religious” people have been indoctrinated to cling ferociously to only ONE comment in Leviticus, while only Hasidic Jews, as far as I know, actively even attempt to keep ALL the Laws in the Old Testament. You know, like not eating the meat of certain animals, mixing milk & meat, mixing threads of linen & cotton on clothing…not exchanging money on the Sabbath. Or not working on the Sabbath. Marrying your Brother-in-Law if you’re widowed (IDK if Hasidim do that one or not)….many Christians don’t even follow the Ten Commandments faithfully, much less the 613 mitzvot or laws laid down in the Old Testament. They include those above and are, broadly classified as: Moral laws – on murder, theft, honesty, adultery, etc. Social laws – on property, inheritance, marriage and divorce. Food laws – on what is clean and unclean, on cooking and storing food. Purity laws – on menstruation, seminal emissions, skin disease and mildew, etc.

Well for Christians, fun fact, we believe that the law of Moses has been fulfilled and many of those laws are no longer necessary, such as circumcision.

It's amazing how people who don't understand take the Bible out of context. The laws were given to the Jews only, and for a time too; until their Messiah appears and enacts a better covenant. It's all supposed to point them to the coming Christ and get them prepared for the shift. Sadly, they weren't prepared to let go of an age-old tradition that was getting obsolete and eventually fading away (in God's mind). Just because it's in the Bible doesn't mean we have to follow it literally. Besides, the Bible isn't a text book or a newspaper. It is very mysterious with hidden meaning that if you're not in the "in-crowd" you wouldn't understand; unless, of course someone who knows lays it out for you properly.

See the problem is, there is no way you can understand the Bible if you don't get a firm grasp of the person of Jesus. Jesus, the Man, gives context for understanding the Bible, because everything points to Him. So it's not about just reading the Bible, even though that is good, it's about understanding Jesus. He is the perfect "rose-colored" glasses with which to understand what is written in the Bible; otherwise the book may come out as whatever Allan wrote about it. The Bible was not for the express purpose of being a guide or a rule book to be followed unwittingly and unquestionably; rather it should lead you to see the Christ.

I don't quite believe that people like Sleazy Weaver and I are that much of a minority, but merely that the bad Catholics are more likely to make the news. You would be more likely to see "Catholic Family Disowns Son After He Comes Out As Gay" than "Catholic Parents Fully Respect and Support LGBTQIA Family Member After They Come Out". And more people talk about how they encountered Catholics who insulted them or hurt them due to sexuality or some other cause than how they encountered good Catholics who were understanding and helpful.

Your mistake is trying to disclose the reality of said belief with scientific method and it won't open up to you that way. It's a closed book and faith and there's only one way for it to open up to you. Btw, do you believe in witchcraft? Because I have seen and experienced things that would leave science with a gaping mouth. I live in the dark continent. It's not called "dark" because we are all black, I can assure you of that.
