35 Facts That May Mess With Your Chronological Understanding Of Things, As Shared By This Guy
People usually have a pretty good intuition when it comes to time. Even if we don’t remember exactly when a thing happened, we can give a pretty precise guess if it was a week ago, a couple of months or a few years ago. This might be explained by the fact that we lived through those events and we just feel how long ago they were.
But it is quite different when it comes to things that we learnt from history. We learn different events as separate facts and not as a continuous story so even if they happened at the same time, it might not click in our heads.
But when they are placed side by side, it is very surprising to see them in a new perspective. TikTok user Adorian Deck, also known as The Facts Guy, who has a following of almost 4 million people, dedicated a whole series to facts that mess with our perception of time and we collected the facts that his followers were interested to hear the most. And if you want to know even more similar facts, here is an older Bored Panda article that you might like.

Betty White was actually older than sliced bread.
Betty is my role model... proof that getting older only means you're getting better.
I am enjoying your observations, but do we need your photo in all of them?
Adorian Deck has been a content creator for 15 years. In 2009 he created his first brand @OMGFacts when he was just 16 years old and successfully sold it when it had 15 million followers on Twitter and Facebook combined.
But TikTok is a recent project, as he started his account in June of 2021. We reached out to Adorian and he told us that he always had a fascination with random fun facts, as is evident from his content, because the sold business as well as his TikTok focus on that.
Cream Puff is the oldest cat to have ever lived on record at 38 years and 3 days old.
What's Cream Puff's secret? I need to know so I can make our kitties live to be old.
I just read that apparently her owner gave her bacon and eggs and coffee with heavy cream?! Seems insane to me but clearly it worked.
Load More Replies...I just lost the best cat ever in the history of cats... Michael Little Crow, my enormous black cat, who fostered all kinds of kittens and helped me train therapy dogs, died at 16. It absolutely broke my heart to let him go, and I have said goodbye to more cats than most. RIP Mr. Mike. I'll see you soon.
Oldest we had had lived to 24. Only issue was dementia in his last 2 years. He just slipped away quickly one night.
God damnit I need to know that cats secret I don't want anymore cats dying 😭😭 I can't take it
Starry Night was painted in the same year that Nintendo became a company.
Why am I so stupid, I thought Van Gogh was as old as Beethoven or something?
Oh same, I was baffled when I found out Picasso died in only 1973... I feel so dumb...
Load More Replies...yes...? it's original name was Nintendo Karuta, it was founded in Kyoto by Fusajiro Yamauchi. They made Hanafuda playing cards.
Load More Replies...Adorian has quite a few series on his TikTok page, like the one included in this list: maps that can change how you see the world, psychology tricks, crazy coincidences and a lot more. We were curious to know where he gets all these ideas from.
He explained, “I'm really inspired by a lot of what I've consumed over the years on the internet myself, and like to come up with my own spin on each topic I dive into. I follow only what interests me and that interest passes over in my body language in the videos I create.” He believes that it is important to create content that he likes himself as “An audience can tell whether someone is genuinely interested in what they are making content about.”
Neil Armstrong, the first man on the Moon, was already 17 years old by the time Orville Wright, one of the inventors of the airplane passed away. There is only a 66-year time difference between when we flew for the first time and when we landed on the Moon.
Buzz Aldrin’s dad witnessed the first Wright brothers’ flight, and was alive to see his son land on the moon. Now those are some amazing bookends on a life! [EDITED TO ADD: I was totally wrong about this. I hate spreading misinformation!]
He was seven years old then. He didn't see it happen. He later met Orville.
Load More Replies...And if it wasn't for the Wright's sister translating everything and doing the calculations for them etc, it would have been longer.
Technology in general seems to have sped up enormously…it feeds itself.
Mars by 2025. Barley 100 years from first flight to literally visiting other planets. Who knows what the next 100 years will be like. We're already developing sending information via light instead of using computers.
Laura Ingalls Wilder was alive when the first satellites went to space
In 1903 The New York Times ran an editorial saying that humans will not be able to fly for a million years. Just 2 months later the Wright brothers took flight.
This is what we should remember when people say things like "We will never be able to travel at light speed." It will happen my friends.
Never as an absolute is often proved wrong. Never say never indeed
Load More Replies...I would like to dedicate this fact to all those who keeps telling that me that I will never get to date Scarlett Johansson... "not in a million years" they say?
That was particularly stupid from the NYT. The Wright brothers are known for creating the first controlled, sustained flight of a heavier than air machine. But there had already been a lot of successful heavier than air flight in the 1890's. And controlled hot air balloon flight were already a common thing by then. In 1903 when the NYT wrote that article, humans had already been able to fly for decades.
When journalists who know nothing about engineering nor science try to predict what engineering or science can accomplish...
This is why I hate Op-Ed, it's just some newspaper employee's personal opinion.
Load More Replies...Well, they're not wrong. Nobody has yet been able to fly for a million years.
The facts are really interesting, but the appeal is that they are really unexpected, yet very simple. Adorian simply finds these facts on Google. He let us in on what the process looks like, “It will take me to list articles that exist on other websites and then once I find some information, I deep dive into researching those facts (since a lot of what you might see on the internet is false), and usually in my deep dives I may even find new ideas for series or just a lot more content for what I'm already working on. Sometimes I just get lost in the information and forget I'm even making videos, hah!”
We figured out how to travel to the moon before we put wheels on suitcases.
To be fair, there were far fewer people flying places at that time, so we weren’t lugging a whole lot of stuff long distances. I flew in an airplane for the first time in the 1960s because I was coming along to a family reunion with the woman I regularly babysat for who had just had a second child and needed me to be a temporary au pair for the trip. Everyone was dressed in their Sunday best and all luggage was checked, and everything went smoothly.
People still carried suitcases a lot though, surely! I have rarely been on a plane but many car trips I have needed a suitcase
Load More Replies...That picture is the wrong kind of suitcase with wheels. The first ones were those big x-large briefcase type ones (IDK how else to describe them) and they had a little strap. You'd pull the strap and it would roll on 2 wheels then promptly fall over. We've come a LONG way baby. Hated those suitcases!!
Actually cases with wheels are much older but for some reason never became popular.
They had wheels on suitcases at that time. They didn't sell bc it was believed men should carry luggage and women shouldn't travel alone. Or so I've read.
If Anne Frank was still alive, she would still have been 7 years younger than Betty White was. This also means that Martin Luther King Jr. would have been 7 years younger than Betty White as well.
Why didn't he just say that they were both 7 years younger than her? It doesn't matter whether they were alive at the same time, they were always born 7 years after.
Sorry…I just can’t help myself with this: If Anne Frank *were* still alive
I think most of the things that we think happened ages ago really weren't. I find it hard to believe it's 2022, which sounds like a sci-fi date to me. WW2 was 80 years ago. 80 years before that was the Civil War. My mom saw Civil War Veterans camp reunions as a child. John Tyler, 10th President, still has living grandsons. John's wife had tea with Martha Washington, for crying out loud.... how is that even possible!? It's all just the blink of an eye.
My neighbour's grandfather was a child during the civil war and when school was canceled, he used to follow the soldiers while they waited for battle
Load More Replies...What a better world it would have been if Anne Frank and Mr King had lived as long as Betty!
Usually, people get bored of the same thing or want to try to branch out. Adorian doesn’t believe he could get bored of facts in general, but he does have plans that involve other activities: “Definitely have long-term plans to venture out into creating a lot of projects based off of what I've built so far, and have goals to help inspire / teach / show people things that could help them live a better life. For example, I'm super passionate about financial education and have content lined up for the near future to speak on this in a format that's entertaining for a larger audience.”
While the United States was working on sending people to the Moon, interracial marriage was still illegal in 16 states.
And if the damned evangelical christian white supremacists get its way it would still be illegal

Load More Replies...There were 14 presidents during the reign of Queen Elizabeth and she’s met 13 of them [she didn’t meet Lyndon Johnson].
I wonder why not. She agreed (eventually) to meet an orange faced turd, but not a man who would not have become president were it not for a very distressing set of circumstances
The Queen technically doesn't have much of a choice in who she meets and who she doesn't meet when it comes to heads of states
Load More Replies...I was going to say this isn't that impressive, since the Presidents are limited to two terms, then I counted the number of Australian PMs in that time and it is about 15 so I guess that's invalid...
No, she's still alive. She has covid atm, but is likely to recover. We'd know about it if she died because of Operation London Bridge, not to mention it would be all over the media.
Load More Replies...Not 'were', there HAVE BEEN 14 US presidents during Queen Elizabeth's reign. She's Not Dead. She's still Queen.
If you went back the same amount of time from today as Marty did from 1985 to 1955, you only would be traveling to 1991 [video was filmed in 2021].
the comments about going back to see Nirvana and Green Day made me suffer a minor stroke. These are NEW bands!
I would kill to see Freddie Mercury live!
Load More Replies...I'd tell my childhood self, " it doesn't get any better, trust me. You get the paracetamols and I'll get the vodka"
What???? It got much better. Tech, freedoms, life expectancy,, wealth, poverty, etc etc have all travelled in the right direction.
Load More Replies...It would be green day for me... Live on stage and when their songs were new

I'm not sure I want to see 2051, by the rate this planet/ civilisation is going...
Load More Replies...But for now he really enjoys what he does on TikTok and he revealed to us that the series included in this list is actually his favorite one as well as the Maps That Will Change How You See The World series.
Adorian added, “There is so much out there we have certain perceptions of and I LOVE making people get twisted in learning that what they thought was one way, was actually another!”
Octopuses have been around for longer than the dinosaurs.
Octopuses are fascinating creatures. I’ve read about them and have watched a bunch clips and all available documentaries.
You probably have, but if not, My Octopus Teacher. One of the best documentaries I have ever seen.
Load More Replies...apparently the plural of octopus isn't octopi. its octopuses, which is more common so if you think its too boring you can also use octopodes which is actually closer to the latin origin !
The time: approx. 65 million years ago. The place: a modest but comfy octopus home. Mrs Octopus: "Whoah, did you feel that? Did you feel a sort of shock wave in the water?" Mr Octopus, faking a concerned expression: "Nah, it's just fish thrashing about. Go back to sleep"
I heard a story once that the octopus is the only creature left over from the last time the world was destroyed a recreated. There was more truth to that story than I realized
Karl Marx, the creator of Communism, wrote a letter to Abraham Lincoln congratulating him on his reelection.
And Donald Trump, the treasonous ex president, congratulated Putin on his invasion of Ukraine.
It's gross to see the "freedumb" crowd supporting the illegal invasion of a sovreign country by a foreign dictator. I mean, we know they're uneducated morons, but watching them blame the current president for what their tangerine traitor helped set in motion is infuriating. Worse, Rudy Colludy and Drumpsterfire spent so much time blaming Ukraine for nonexistent election fraud that the Trumpanzees are cheering for Ukraine's defeat and helping spread Russian propoganda.
Load More Replies...I think even more interesting is the fact that John Wilkes Booth's brother saved Abraham Lincoln's son..
Wait until you hear about the JFK Colgate Sponsorship Conspiracy. It's why his teeth are so shiny.

Harriet Tubman was still alive for another month after Rosa Parks was born.
Which helps us to understand how real and immediate slavery and racism and prejudice were for the people in the Civil Rights Movement.
Racism and prejudice are real and immediate for persons of color today.
Load More Replies...It is crazy to think that there are people still alive whose grandparents were slaves. It truly is far closer to us than most of us think. I dunno about yall, but my grandma helped raise me and had a profound effect on my personality.
Not just that, the fact that trauma gets passed down genetically for generations, regardless of whether or not anyone even tells you about it.
Load More Replies...People don’t understand how close we are in history to slavery. People think it’s ancient history but it wasn’t that long ago…
harriet tubman was an abolitionist most known for conducting the "Underground Railroad". A system helping escaped slaves head to the north for freedom and opportunity.
Load More Replies...Joe Biden once served in Congress with 6 different people born in the 1800s.
Let’s start with the Senate first…what with those six-year terms; the House can follow them. I propose no more than three for the Senate and 10 for the House; if you’re moving from the House to the Senate, only two terms.
Load More Replies...Do you realize Trump was birth in a year later after Hither died, had a stoke or infected COVID? And you brought up over how old is Biden? Bruh, Trump was 74 when he was the first 45th president to turn America into Venezuela's cousin.
Load More Replies...How does he have more hair on the top of his head then? He must be using Rogaine!
WHY are the majority of people running the country well past the age of retirement?? SMH. Seriously, let them volunteer as advisors. Let them work 8-12 hours a week for interest, in a largely redundant position. But, don't let them run a giant country just because they tell their kids to share, but feel like they don't need to. RETIRE!
No, but it already seems yours is lodged in 1935.
Load More Replies...Pablo Picasso was actually alive more recently than Jimi Hendrix.
Three more years, but the plaster-casters never got around to him.
This is one of my favorite history facts. We always think of the "big names" of art working in the far distant past. I remember having my mind blown in an art history class when I realized Picasso passed less than a decade before I was born. On the same note, Jackson Pollock was still alive after my dad had his first legal drink (CA has had the 21+ law since 1933- Pollock died in 1956 and no I won't tell you when my dad was born)
When I hear his name, an artist is not the first thing that comes to mind. Hateful, misogynistic bigot does.
So better not dig in the lifes of quite a few of personalities, from Einstein to Theresa from Calcutta, from Caravallo to Lilly Allen. I think we must learn to separate peoples accomplishements from their lifes (Also rendering them humans, not "great" humans). Just my opinion.
Load More Replies...I think this is one strange comparison I guess it's all in the way you think!
I remember walking into class as a senior in high school where someone wrote on the chalkboard Jimmy Hendrix died at 11:40 am. It was a shock
Rosa Parks was alive long enough to witness Hurricane Katrina.
Claudette Colvin is still alive! If you haven't heard of her before... https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claudette_Colvin
I had no idea that she had not yet died when I was born. All those books written about her, but never hearing of a recent action or statement by her, make her seem like such a historical figure
Hurricane Katrina highlighted to the world that black Americans were still being treated like second class citizens.
Load More Replies...Everything you see happened in the past-not the present. It takes time for the brain to process visual information so by the time you’ve actually seen something, it already happened.
I've known this for a while, but it still makes my brain hurt. I'm typing in the past and present. Every letter that's typed is the past, but the moment I press a letter it's the present. I feel like I'm typing and scrolling in the present, but in reality I'm not. It's weird, but cool, even though my brain now hurts.
Of course it has. It needed to happen for me to see. Ooh ooh I got one everything in the future has not happened yet
There is no present, only the past and future. By my the time you process the present, it's already the past.
It makes me think about the Australian Aboriginals, they view all time as being, past present and future all in one (don't think I'm explaining it right). It can be hard for them to learn in traditional schools because of this, when they learn 'on country' it is through stories that have been told for thousands of years, about the past, yet are still happening now.
The current oldest person living in the world today is 118 years old [119 years old in 2022]. She’s been alive longer than the time between the date the US Constitution took effect [1788] and her birth.
Amazing what she has witnessed the technological progress that's occurred
Imagine all the events she lived during, ww1 ww2 hiroshima fukushima tsunami... Television, microwave, USSR, moonlanding, spanish flu, the rona all of that Everyone she knew and went to school with is dead 😐
Bowhead whales can live for over 200 years which means that there are likely whales in the ocean today that were alive during the Civil War [1861–1865].
The large marine mammals can live longer lives if not faced with humans and their killing sprees.
The American civil war maybe, plenty of people were having civil (and not-so-civil) wars long before Europeans invaded north America.
They found a talking blue tang that can speak whale.
Load More Replies...Betty White was 9 years old when Thomas Edison passed away.
Edison was a true Capitalist. He stole most of his" inventions and then was the one to profit from them.
Her dress is GORGEOUS! I remember my grandparents (long dead, alas) watching her on Password when she was married to Allen Ludden.
His hair seems like it's getting taller and taller as this list goes on
We didn’t know that a meteor killed the dinosaurs until 1991. That’s around the same time that the movie Home Alone was in theaters [November 16, 1990].
That's right, nobody put the pieces of the worldwide iridium together until then.
Load More Replies...I remember reading about the meteor in school books in the 70s, so it was a pretty widely accepted theory.
Science theorised on the cause for a long time, and by the 1970s had collected enough evidence to know that a meteor almost certainly caused the extinction event. They just hadn't located a crater of the right size. That was first identified in the late 70s by people doing geophys for oil companies, and became widespread knowledge in the early 90s.
My son was a dinosaur expert by the time he was 5. That was his theory in 1988.
https://youtu.be/2rNYxzYPDgE No, this is how dinos really went extinct
It's kind of interesting to keep in mind that the idea that a meteor caused the extinction of the dinosaurs is as new as it is - up until then, it was often thought that a drought caused it, as shown in the "Rite of Spring" section of the 1940 movie Fantasia.
In 2020 researchers discovered fossils of green algae that existed 1 billion years ago.
For nearly a billion years, the only life on Earth was algae. And all it did was create oxygen...
Got algae? Algae, the other white meat. Algae, it's what's for dinner.
You know, this would be a lot more interesting if this dude's face wasn't imprinted under each image.
this millennial in all the pics , looks like a pedophile? is it just me that sees this ??
Me 100%, how could you not be interested? All life on this planet used to be completely different, we were even a purple & blue planet at one point - if you personally think that’s boring, well, I’ve got bad news for you about boring people 🤷♀️
Load More Replies...The Sahara Desert was green and alive with vegetation only about 6,000 years ago [more precisely 11,000-5,000 years ago].
Does it mean we could find fossils of animals that once lived on the desert?
No it wasn't. When it was green it wasn't a desert and vice versa. This is like saying "when I was still with my ex..." No. If you were still with them they wouldn't be your ex and if they're your ex it's because you're not with them.
If you put the universe's 13.8 billion years into a year-long timeline, here’s what it looks like: The Big Bang occurs January 1st at 12 AM. The Milky Way Galaxy forms on March 16th. Our Solar System takes shape on September 2nd. The formation of Earth follows shortly after on September 6th. The first complex cells emerge on Earth on November 9th. Dinosaurs appear on Christmas and are extinct by December 30th. All of recorded human history starts on the night of December 31st at 11:59:33 PM. Jesus Christ is born at 11:59:55 PM. The average human life lasts about 1/4th of a second of this timeline. Less than the blink of an eye which is 1/3rd of a second.
And we still haven't learned how to live together harmoniously ......
Give us a break, we're only 27 seconds old.
Load More Replies...So much came before us, I wonder if we'll be around long enough to be a bigger percentage of that time.
Jesus was actually born around April. One can read up why his birth is celebrated in December
A much better argument has been made for September.
Load More Replies...He should do this again but for the timeline of life on earth, time since first recorded, etc. This is fascinating to see how much time we have actually existed in the full timeline of everything.
this is incorrect he said a human life (70 -80 years) lasts 1/4 a second in this time line that is wrong there are 31,536,000 seconds in a year ...so lets multiply times 4 thats 126,144,000... so theres been 126144000 times 70 years since the big bang? no because the result is 8,830,080,000... hes about 5 billion years off... sorry had to call b******t
Um Jesus hypothetical birth was born, and without all the the changing months from 8 to 10 to 12months , and taking away leap years and such it would have hypotically been in the spring
Mark Twain lived long enough to take a color photo [correction: 1908] before he passed away.
Indeed, it's why they included his character in a few-episode-long storyline in Star Trek: The Next Generation. 💕
Load More Replies...Color photography had been around for decades by that point, but the different methods were varying degrees of difficult/time-consuming.
Cleopatra was alive [9 B.C.-31 B.C.] closer in time to the moon landings [1969-1972] than the building of the Great Pyramids [2550 B.C.-2490 B.C.].

From the time Pluto was discovered to the time that Pluto lost its planet status it hadn’t even completed one orbit around the sun. it actually still hasn’t. Pluto was discovered in 1930 and downgraded in 2006 (76 years later). It takes Pluto 248 years to orbit the Sun which means that it will not have made a full orbit around the sun until 2178.

Maybe, but it certainly wasn't Matt Smith who played the Doctor then, he wasn't born until 1982, and no, having a Tardis doesn't change that!
I'm almost exactly the same age as Doctor Who! The TV show, that is, not the actual Doctor.
You’re also the same age as my youngest brother, which is likely less thrilling to you 😁😋🤪
Load More Replies...William Hartnell was the first Doctor. But the best by far was Tom Baker.

I believe it was meant to go on at 5:15pm but was delayed 10 minutes by a news broadcast about the Kennedy assassination.
The Eastern Roman Empire fell only 40 years before Christopher Columbus landed in the Americas. This means that plenty of people who considered themselves Romans heard of the discovery of the new world.
The Romanovs claimed heirship to the Romans (Ivan the Terrible’s grandmother was a Byzantine princess), so we can run the end-date to 1918. Or, if Putin decides he’s entitled to Istanbul (and I wouldn’t put it past him), it extends into the present.
Yeah, but there's a big difference between the claims of the Romans (or the HRE or whomever) and the emperors in Constantinople - the latter actually were Roman emperors at one point. The Muscovites never were.
Load More Replies...You are attempting to use knowledge of today to discount people in history as though that will undo what has been done. That is not how humans learn to become better. He did what he did and for the time period it was done, it was considered acceptable. We know better now, partially due to his actions. To pretend as though horrible people from history taught us nothing and are worthless due to choices they made during their era is ignorant.
Load More Replies...But... didn't Columbus think it was India? So... it wasn't "a new land" back then.
This actually makes sense because he was searching for new trade routes because the best ones were through the roman territories
Leonardo da Vinci was a year younger than Cristopher Columbus.
He's an important historical figure. This isn't promoting him, it's just using him for a perspective on time.
Load More Replies...Will Smith is now older than the actor who played Uncle Phil was at the time that The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air first premiered in 1990.
Pretty sure Tom Selleck is older than his TV dad was when Blue Bloods first aired and that show is still on!
The last major Hollywood movie to be released on VHS was a History Of Violence in 2006.
The last American [Ronnie Lee Gardner] to be executed by firing squad was in 2010, the same year that Toy Story 3 came out.
If someone killed a member of my family I would want them dead. Sorry but I would. Might not be very PC but that's just how I feel. Might be different if it happened and please god it never ever will. But knowing how protective I am over my kids, it wouldn't change. Downvote away.
There is nothing wrong with you feeling that way. There is no reason to downvote you. The thing is though, that as a SOCIETY we shouldn't always endorse what feels right for the individual. As a society, we want less killing, we want people to be safe, we want crime to go down. And endorsing vengeance dose the opposite, even though it might feel like the right thing for the individual.
Load More Replies...The last execution in Lichtenstein was 1785. Last one in Brazil was 1876. 1957 for New Zealand.
Germany wrote it in the constitution in 1945. The only death sentences after that were for Nazi war criminals. The last one was 1951 and even they were highly controversial.
Load More Replies...For some reason I thought it came out later. I would've been 22, or so. I somewhat remember it being dark for a children's movie

so glad he didnt have to deal with the horrors of Tom hanks and Toy story 3...rest in peace
I do feel some that people who commit certain crimes don't deserve to live., but I don't believe in the death penalty as a whole. It is too flawed and too many innocent people have been executed. I feel if the government are going to choose to have the father penalty, they need a way to make sure that person is 100% guilty. I always have thought if the prosacuters end up convicting an innocent person and they are executed, then the prosecutors should be charged with murder. I bet there would be we would see a lot less death penalty cases, if any.
I think the idea that you could make a mistake as an argument against certain penalties very weak because nothing you can do to someone is undoable, so it really undermines the trauma of being falsely punished in other ways. However to hold people responsible for miscarriages of justice is something I have not seen considered before and I would support that completely.

Tobey Maguire was the same age when No Way Home was released as Willem Dafoe was when the first Spider-Man movie premiered.
Willem Dafoe is absolutely wonderful (and not creepy like he seems to so often be) in The Florida Project, which is a wonderful and far-too-overlooked film from 2017. It’s one of my favorite films in the past 10 years, and I’m a dedicated film buff.
But for some reason Tobey looks the same to me and Willem looks so old
6 percent of all humans that have ever lived through the entire history of humanity are alive right now.
We’re going to see a lot more extinctions of the megafauna on this planet because of this. I can only hope I die before the last elephants do.
Perhaps the selection out of the gene pool for tusks means the new generation of tuskless elephants will have a chance. Due to the Roman games in the colosseums, a whole distinct species of north african elephant went extinct.
Load More Replies...Terribly worded. I think he means for the entire existence of humanity, 6% are alive now.
And they have caused more damage to the planet than the previous 94%.
Frank Sinatra died the same day the Sinfield finale aired.
And Sinfield was also on the grassy knoll in Texas when Kennedy was assassinated
The pyramids of Giza [c. 2575–c. 2465 BCE] were as old to ancient Romans as the ancient Romans [753 BC–476 AD] are to us now.
Anyone able to identify the painting of the Roman Empire in the screenshot?

The Ottoman Empire participated in WW1 on the side of Germany. Not sure what site google took you to.
Load More Replies...No it's not. That was the Ottoman Empire at the start of WW1

Check out this guy's wiki. Supposedly he was 130, unverified obviously. He said his parents lived to be 120 and 122. I wonder if there is any interview footage of him
There might be WPA interviews from the 1930s. The New Deal specifically funded interviews with former slaves. They might be available on the National Archive or LLibrary of congress websites.

Twins born either side of midnight on Dec 31/Jan 1, can have different days, dates, months and years recorded as their birthdays.
Why would anyone downvote that? It's true. And it just happened this year. 12/31 and 1/1.
Load More Replies...there's a set of triplets born in two decades. one was born in 2019, the other two in 2020, and the birth was a period of five days. it was a very premature birth, which extended the length of time (they were born at 22 weeks or so). the three are actually all happy little toddlers as of this writing.
I once dated a guy born on the same day, same year as me but in a different city.
I was born on the 7th at 9:30pm, but due to time zones where I live now my birthday would be on the 8th (1:30am), so I do have two birthdays, much like the Queen 😁
Abraham Lincoln and Charles Darwin have the exact same birthday. They also were both 12 years old when Napoleon died.
If two people have the same birthday, I assume they'll always be the same age.
And how old was Napoleon - I guess the older generation was smarter then too!
The first college football game was played only 4 years after the end of the Civil War.
Comparing a war to a football game - how many footballers were killed - pray tell!
For a reason: young men felt they had to make up for just having missed out on the big crusade their dads and older brothers had accomplished, and compensated with ramped-up macho (see: Roosevelt, Theodore)
We are as many years away from Pearl Harbor as Pearl Harbor was from the start of the civil war [video was filmed in 2021].
Those who cannot remember the past are doomed to repeat it.

I hate., hate, hate that painting on the top (Homage to Columbus by Jose Garnelo), showing him as some mega-Christian conquering hero and all the native Americans bowing down in deference and worship to him. UGH. It's the very worst kind of whitewashing and racism and false history.
Columbus is a llama-f*cker, a murderer, and has a stupid hat.
Load More Replies...Columbus DID NOT discover the Americas. People were already living there as far back as thirty three thousand years. Stop lying about this inhuman sociopath.
And if you're talking about people from Europe going to the Americas, Leif Eriksson discovered Vinland (in modern Newfoundland) in ~1000 CE.
Load More Replies...Columbus "discovered" islands in the Caribbean. He never made it to mainland north America.
Colón, in his fourth trip, landed in central America -Honduras owns its name to a sentence he pronounced- and in what is now Panamá, where he stopped short of "discovering" the pacific ocean. download-6...c752ac.jpg
The first Europeans in the Americas were the Vikings. 1021 approx. They made land in what's now Newfoundland, and there are still remnants of their settlement. Columbus 'decided' he was the first out of sheer arrogance and the hefty reward money for discovering the 'New World'. Evidence shows that the vikings did not displace any native peoples and left not too long after.(in an historical sense of time). I often wonder what the Americas would have become had they stayed and chased off the later explorers.
Columbus was not the first explorer to land in the Americas - sorry bub!
Well, the time from July 4, 1776, to July 4, 2021 was 245 years. How do I know? I was born in 1776 :).
Woody Allen was born the same year as Elvis Presley.
Donald Trump was alive during Stalin’s reign over the USSR.
Nope, but I hope he dies a painful, protracted undignified death though - failing that a shot to the face with a shotgun ......
Load More Replies...It seems fitting that Stalin was still alive during the formative years of the toddler tantrum tangerine.
If the idiot even knows who Stalin is, I’m sure he loves him for being a “strong” leader.
So many despicable posts about this. It's fine to hate the guy, but anybody wishing death on him is a horrible human being that needs to preach what they sow. Let alone comparing one(admittedly egotistical and hateful) person to somebody who systematically caused the deaths of 55 million of his own people and would execute, or at least imprison people, just for stopping clapping
If Trump could have gotten away with doing all this, he would have. He wasn't as bad but definitely has the potential.

Thomas Edisson, the inventor of the lightbulb, died in 1931. This is the same year that the Empire State Building which has thousands of lightbulbs was completed. President Hoover pressed a button from inside the White House that lit up the Tower lights to officially open the building.

I'm sorry but whoever you are the statements are silly and you picture in all of them is very annoying!
Before Italy was a Kingdom???? Ummm, Roman Empire, Dark ages, Middle Ages, Renaissance...etc. all times the modern country Italy was part of an Empire or Kingdom.
Ok, Italy was a Rebuplic, not a Fuedal Kingdom until 1861. But still, Emporers, Kings and queens all a like existed.
