I used to own a restaurant and every table had a silver bell on it so people could ring for service.
How did that work out? As either a patron or worker I could see that getting very annoying very quickly.

Not sure of that - there are two people in the picture - not sure that both would be unable to speak. Plus, there are workarounds, such as pointing on the menu, miming, writing, etc. Raising one's hand is a more polite way to request the staff's attention than ringing a bell. I've seen a manager tell off a customer for snapping his fingers, which is considered demeaning to wait staff.

Every time she rang it, I would get the restaurant to cheer like it was a noisemaker at a party.

my ex had a boss with a unique sense of humor. One day he was blowing into a very small harmonica, entertaining himself. She walks into his office and sees it, now on his desk and asks about it. As someone who was a server for years I developed a kill them with kindness attitude. If they really pissed me off I would be so saccharin sweet to them that they had to know I was mocking them but had nothing to complain about to a manager. In this case I would have, with exaggerated respect, told this entitled bitch that if I heard her ring that bell she would never see me at her table and could get what she wanted herself, possibly with the bell up her a**e for safe keeping, as she wouldn’t want to lose it the next time she needs to make herself feel special. This would have been said with a very polite sweet smile and soft nonaggressive tone of voice.

I worked in a restaurant for 7 years. I have a plenty stories from that time. One of my favorite is this: We had a busy full terrace with a lot of sundae orders. My coworker was serving a very rude table. They were 4 people. When my coworker brought them their order she had 3 of their sundae on a tray, because only 3 fits. The woman screamed to her that she had the 4. forgotten. In a very disrespectful way. My coworker looked her straight in the eyes and said that she didn't forget the 4. one but she only had two arms to wait tables. The lady was not amused. It was a horrible day. The best part were the people who snap with their fingers to arrest attention. Thats ultimate rude to a waitress. Gladly no one uses a bell.

I'd ignore her than get the manager to ask them to leave for disturbing the other patrons with their bell ringing. The saying about how you can tell a person's true character by how they treat service industry employees still holds true.
If you are another customer, report it to the manager and say you find it offensive and distracting to your meal. That lady looks like the type to dig in her heels and it gives the management more behind their argument. Other diners are complaining and their money, collectively, is more important than yours. I know, in Japan, they have a very efficient bell system at many restaurants, but this isn't Japan and they'd be annoyed af at you for bringing your own bell, anyway.

Placed my order, and then sat in the lobby staring at my phone. A white family comes in. Out of courtesy, I acknowledge them by head nodding like how black dudes greeting in passing. A few seconds goes by and the dad impatiently asks, "So are you going to seat us or what?" Mind you, I'm wearing a full suit with a magnetic name badge that clearly says my name and Ford Motor Company. This is where the story could've ended but I decided to be a d**k. So I got up, grabbed some menus, and sat them. Promptly sat my ass back down. Dad blurts out he's ready to order. When he asks why I'm not writing anything down, I reassured him I memorized everything...only to sit right back in the lobby. Dad is livid. Confronts me.
