175 Unbelievable Places That Look Like They’re From Another Planet
These out-of-this-world photos will make you feel like you're on another planet. Why spend years training to be an astronaut when you explore strange new worlds right here on earth? So what if you didn't pass the last phase of the Mars One screening process!
Sometimes, there might be exotic locations right under your nose - we often get bored of our own surroundings even though they might seem completely exotic or even surreal from someone who lives across the globe from you.
These alien photos span practically every continent on Earth, so you can experience fantastic sites like these no matter where you live. But one continent is missing from the list. Which one is it? Can you find any out-of-this-world pictures to complete this list? Add your own photos below, or vote on a favorite!

Glowworms Cave, New Zealand
I had heard of New Zealand but never believed it was real until now. Thank you glowworms!
Load More Replies...When I was there, the guides told us that they weren't actually glow worms...they are larva of fireflies...otherwise known as maggots.
I have been thru this in NZ..the river is cold but it is beautiful in there..carol stone
Tianzi Mountains, China
I believe I read that these mountains were inspirations for some of the air mountains for "Avatar."
I think they were used in Avatar, right ? They just cut the lower part and made them seem like floating.
Fly Geyser, Nevada, Usa
The hole underneath it is, but that on top is a natural combination of.....chocolate, vanilla and mint! And jam, lots of jam.
Load More Replies...This pic is amazing, but the real thing isn't as cool. It's only 5ft tall & on a private ranch in NV. It was made by accident, by drilling.
And I read that it's only 5 feet high (12 if you include the surrounding platform)!
Pamukkale, Turkey
No sugar. It's sugar. All the white sugar comes form there.
Load More Replies...This place really is this incredible! the water is from an underground hot spring, full of minerals. The white is calcium deposits.
Emerald Ice On Baikal Lake, Russia
The density of ice like this is such that only blue light can pass through, so that's why it has a blueish tinge to it.
Load More Replies...Zhangye Danxia Landform In Gansu, China
It's photoshopped... The colors are not really this vibrant, unfortunately..
Load More Replies...The math and geometry used in all animal life forms is beyond our science to understand but is the Creators signature on his art work , its not simply accidental it is super genius !
Load More Replies...God resides in beautiful places which are not easily accessible by us.He preserves his tranquility.
This pic is unfortunately photo shopped ;( the colours in this are fake.
This pic is unfortunately photo shopped, if you google the 'real' pics they are still beautiful but no where near having the colours as this
Monte Roraima - Venezuela
Son Doong Cave, Vietnam
Giants Causeway In Northern Ireland
I think that's where one of the scenes of Harry Potter was shot. MAY BE
No. A cave at the bottom ofThe Cliffs of Moher, in Clare, Republic of Ireland was, though. I live near the Cliffs of Moher. Also have visited the Giant's Causeway, which is gloriously othe-wordly.
Load More Replies...this is a great edited photo.. I love the giants Causeway... bit ti is not like this
It DOES look like this. The photo doesn't look that edited, and because I've spent 2 decades working with various editing software, I can usually spot a heavily edited image. Actually, this photo shows such a small section of the Causeway that it cant 'do justice to what I saw when I visited. We often have beautiful sunses/rises here in Ireland, both the Republic, where I live, and Northern Ireland
Load More Replies...Grand Prismatic Spring, Wyoming, Usa
Dragonblood Trees, Socotra, Yemen
Been to Socotra last June 2014...those trees are awesome and totally out of this world.
Glowing Beach In Maldives

Naica Mine, Mexico
He's. Every. Where. DON'T TURN AROUND! Just. Wait.
Load More Replies...Just watched a documentary about this on National Geo. Amazing and terrifying place. One I surely admire, but would never want to visit.
You can't exactly visit this one as a tourist. It's a very hostile enviroment.
Love crystals!! I hear it's toxic in there, tho, so I'll just enjoy pictures!
It is also blazing hot inside, hot enough to kill you in about ten minutes if you're not properly equipped.
Load More Replies...Antelope Canyon, Usa
I was taken there back in the 70`s when the only access was drive up the sandy wash and few knew about it.
Red Beach, Panjin, China
The Sueda species is one of the few species of grass that can live in highly alkaline soil. Its growth cycle starts in April when it is colored light red, while the color of the mature species is deep red. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Seabeach
Load More Replies...Abraham Lake, Canada
you're correct...it's methane. This was featured on a science program; sampling study being conducted.
Load More Replies...Stunning Bubbles Frozen Under Lake Abraham | Travel | Smithsonian www.smithsonianmag.com/.../lake-abrahams-frozen-bubbles-are-stunning-...
not air...methane coming from the lake bed. GAS bubbles trapped under the ice.
Load More Replies...Salar De Uyuni, Bolivia
It is like one big mirror. By the way, that is about 12,000 square miles of salt - I think thats what I read about this.
Dallol Volcano, Ethiopia
Poço Encantado, Chapada Diamantina, state of Bahia, Brazil :https://www.google.com.br/search?q=po%C3%A7oencantado&client=ms-android-samsung&espv=1&tbm=isch&tbo=u&sboxchip=Imagens&source=univ&fir=fPE2i0AZ_ST2RM%253A%252C_NzcuAd4FvMw7M%252C_%253BR3VolXpR_PmoSM%253A%252Cxzd3lAv3ynNwJM%252C_&usg=__2kWwZ_HHv03KgkvWcLO5uKkxqZo%3D&sa=X&ei=XZOfVbOXAYGewATsvqGoDA&ved=0CDAQ7Ak

Ice Cave In Iceland
Iceland is mostly green and brown, there's not a lot of 'ice' in Iceland :D
Load More Replies...Iceland bs Greenland.. People say this name is conspiratory, bcz in Greenland there r a lot more ice than in Iceland.
That is so stupid there is no snow in towns on the summer so thats just stupid saying that and that the schools in america teach that is so

Lake Retba, Senegal
caused by Dunaliella salina algae and is known for its high salt content, up to 40% in some areas.
Yep. If you go into the water, the high salt content holds you up (like in the Dead Sea). Of note: the sun has to be shining on the water (and the algae) to reflect the pink. You can barely see the pink when the day is overcast.
Load More Replies...Spotted Lake, Canada
the lower photo is a nice surrealist alternative Valentine, with the heart in the foreground turned 90 degrees counterclockwise.
Gates To Hell, Derweze, Turkmenistan
In the 70s some miners lit the hole on fire, hoping to burn of the gas in just a few days. It has gone on for 40+ years.
Lake Hillier, Australia
We have only one beautiful fantastic Planet Earth. Let's take care of it.
No-one knows why the lake is pink. Scientists speculate that the colour comes from a dye created by bacteria that lives in the salt crusts.
Load More Replies...Lake Natron, Tanzania
You should see the road in Tanzania as well! ;-)
Load More Replies...The lake is filled with so much Calcium and salt deposits that causes the blood red color. The "potholes" are streams of fresher water.
You shouldn't. I think I read somewhere that anyliving thing that touches the lake is sealed in a salt crust and kille
