35 Times People Wanted To Be Popular On Social Media So Bad, They Did Horrible Things For It (New Pics)
Talking to The National (the publisher, not the band), Elaine Wallace, senior lecturer in marketing at the National University of Ireland Galway (so many nationals!), said there's a lot of research showing that people like to receive likes and are motivated to seek them. "People engage in all sorts of practices to get them, and it keeps them coming back," Wallace explained.
But the negative psychological effect of the desire to collect likes has been freely admitted for many years by both Facebook and Instagram. In 2016, Instagram's then chief executive, Kevin Systrom, for example, told The Wall Street Journal: "We need to have a place where you feel free to post whatever you want without the nagging fear of, did someone like that or not?"
Years later, however, there's no such place in sight. People still go above and beyond for internet points, trying to impress folks they don't even know. And when I say beyond, I mean burning fellow plane passengers with a high-powered laser and giving up a child after you learn you can't include them in your videos.

"Social media fame is more fragile and less likely to endure compared to the celebrity of actors and musicians. It may seem like some traditional performers became famous 'overnight,' but almost all worked for many years cultivating their craft and building a resume, hoping for a break-out moment," Rutledge wrote in Psychology Today. "While traditional celebrity certainly takes advantage of social media for fan engagement, social media fame is different. It has created a new class of celebrity — influencers — that takes advantage of network connectivity, peer-to-peer communication and bandwagon behaviors, so information and influence spread faster. This works well for fame based on the ability to attract attention through zealous extroversion, appeal, and a willingness to push the envelope rather than traditional performance skills."

Parent reaction videos that use children as props to get a reaction are one of the sickest and cruelest things on Youtube. Parents will purposely scare their kid, make them cry, or feign fake outrage just to get that 30 seconds of fame. It's a truly disturbing trend and some of the videos are dare I say emotionally abusive. If you have to emotionally abuse your child for Internet clout and upvotes, there is something seriously wrong with you.

gross, but it doesn't damage the car in any way. Teslas have a frunk - a front trunk that is watertight (or in this case milk-tight) and probably with a drain plug. Even if it doesn't have a drain plug this is nothing a wet-dry vac and some cleaning won't fix.

A relative of mine is a pilot for a big airline. The stories he tells are horrific. People throwing fits due to mandatory masks, sometimes even physically attacking cabin crew. A prank is creating a false reality or getting someone to believe something that isn't true. It's not just stealing something out of someone's cart, doing something to hurt them, or being mean for no reason.

I was going to let this go, but no. Too many souls unrested. This is a manipulated image. The closest road that runs perpendicular to the tower is a whole 6 lanes away and a glass barrier. It is the bridge going to the Trocadero. Now, even if we said the photo was taken from the bridge (it wasn't), there is an absence of very specific crossing lights and road markings claerly visible on many Google and users uploaded Streetview photos. When you look really carefully at the road surface just behind her you can make out a line in different textures too. She wasn't even there! My resolution is that it is at least 3 different photos. It is indeed the Eiffel Tower, but from much further away (hence the scale) than the image suggests. There hasn't been a passable road under in 60 years (except ceremony), and it is nothing to do with 'perspective' that suggests so, because there would be be cross traffic and many, many more people.

Regardless of the type of alcohol in it, the problem is the vast majority of the "audience" isn't going to know or look up this route of information. They are just going to hear rubbing alcohol = cheap & easy to access drunkenness that doesn't require you to be 21 to buy.... Apearently the term rubbing alcohol covers both the ethanol and the isopropyl version. However some ethanol is denaturised with methanol, so the risk of blindness would still be pressent.

If he is lucky, that could be "good old ethanol" in that bottle and not isopropyl alcohol wich is sometimes sold as rubbing alcohol too. People used to drink the ethanol based rubbing alcohol a lot before it got denaturised as it was the cheapest option of getting really drunk very fast. If it is ethanol, the effect would probably be about the same if he had drunk double that amount of vodka, as vodka is basically just a watered down ethanol. He may end up really drunk, but the chances of it doing real harm is not that bad, and the denaturation most likely caused him to throw it back up before a lot of it entered his body.

I'm gonna be downvoted but since airlines are getting more and more ridiculous, people will start doing this more and more often!! They charge you even for your purse now and recently i had this experience: had a luggage and a cabin suitcase and my luggage was not overweight! They didn't weight my cabin one until i reached the gates where they told me it's overweight and made me take out things and carry them on my hands until i pass the gates!! If it was weighed earlier i would have put them in the luggage! What was the f*****g point of taking them out for two minutes and put them back in after the gate?

The body scanner is at security checkpoint where they don't care if you have one or two personal luggages - if you don't have big bottles of shampoo. It is the flying companies that look at the number of luggages at the boarding gates, so way later in the process.
