Remember when we used to think "ignoring scientists" was just movie nonsense? We were so innocent.
Don’t Look Up is an apocalyptic comedy drama film from earlier this month, December 5, 2021 (theatrical release, 24 on Netflix) that revolves around two low-level astronomers going on a world tour, warning humanity of the impending doom that is a comet skyrocketing towards planet Earth.
Because it’s a pretty fresh entry in the Netflix library, we won’t spoil it any further, but you’re more than welcome to check it out yourself as it’s a Netflix exclusive and hence it’s available in all regions around the globe.
She really did play a good cheeto. If only we could launch the real one into space and have him eaten by giant bird.
🤣 only if the world doesn't have to literally end first.
Load More Replies...Right? It's obvious from the beginning that she's the female version of Trump. Down to the president's son employed by her as the chief of staff.
Load More Replies...Ah yes. The importance of finding the shade of foundation that matches your skin tone when buying new makeup.
The movie stars a number of high-profile actors, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, and Meryl Streep, supported by the likes of Jonah Hill, Ron Pearlman, Ariana Grande, Cate Blanchett, Rob Morgan, and many others.
Don’t Look Up was directed by award-winning screenwriter, director, and comedian Adam McKay, who’s best known for his work with The Other Guys (2010), Vice (2018), and The Big Short (2015) as well as his comedy partnership with Will Ferrell, together with whom he wrote Anchorman (2004) and Talladega Nights (2006).
"Are we stupid" to "We are stupid" has been my journey from 2019-present.
At least they're not smiling in front of a concentration camp. I guess.
The 2-hour and 18-minute long film has already managed to nab 7 awards and get nominated 32 times. As of this article, over 174,000 people rated the movie an average of 7.3 out of 10. And the reactions didn’t stop there as people online started discussing, joking, and memeing the heck out of it.
Some were pointing out how the movie is honestly based on reality with the government ignoring scientists and whatnot. There were select people who would really love to go meet their end at an Ariana Grande concert. Oh, and Jennifer Lawrence’s character dwelling on being charged for free snacks while waiting on the world to end is too darn relatable, according to this tweeter.
Would be really hard for anyone who's not alive in the 21st century to watch it.
We got our priorities straight alright lol. If we want to prevail, we as a race need to think longer term than our own lifetimes. I'm not having kids and even I am appalled by our current state of affairs. The Covid pandemic exemplifies this. I have no doubt when an apocalyptic event does occur, we would go through the same process of bullshittery in half-measures to ensure the economy isn't "ruined". Maybe I'm a simpleton, but if everyone is dead, the economy by all definition, is dead as well.
Others pointed out the terrible haircuts, hence the name of the movie. Yet others were surprised how many of the shots in the movie include on average three people, and that alone equates to 6-7 Oscars with 35 to 42 nominations, depending on the scene. Now all we need is the same with net worth.
Same guy, twenty years later. He just got older, straightened his s**t out, finally got a girlfriend, and miraculously, got married and had kids.
When they look sticky-dirty, but those cut cheekbones keep playing on your mind.

I appreciated that he 100% seriously asked a suburban mom that question. Even though Kate shut him down.

This movie made me sad. All I could think about is how dire of a situation were in and nobody can do anything about it bc the rich and the gross politicians have brainwashed half the world into thinking it's not real and they truly do only care about their money in the their lifetime be damned everyone else it's not their problem. I don't want my daughter to have kids bc I'm afraid the pain she'll go through watching them suffer bc of climate change, mass migration, wars over water, all animals and bugs and vegetation dying. We really are living in that movie idiocracy w all the conspiracy theorists and anti vaxxers flat earthers climate change deniers, no education, no money no jobs. It's actually depressing and quite terrifying especially when you factor in idiots worshipping people like trump.
This movie gave me the funniest nightmares. That's how the world ends, with stupid.
Load More Replies...I agree with Neil deGrasse Tyson. This isn't a satire. It's a documentary. It's exactly how things will go when (not if) we encounter an extinction event.
It was an amazing movie. Both terrifying and hilarious. The ending really got me though!
When I sent it to my friends I included, "Stay through all the credits."
Load More Replies...I watched it on Boxing Day with some of my family, talk about ending xmas on a downer…..!
I've been thinking a lot about this movie. Watched it 2x now. It's a mirror of our society and it's scary and funny and sad. Lots of great performances from many great actors.
It was so much better then I anticipated, but also made me cry repeatedly, it was too truthful and honest. But... My family and I are going to be having dinner together when it hits, we're doing what we can but it isn't enough. It would be with the right changes by the right people. Pass the Xanax please. Bronteroc.
Ok I hadn't even heard of it, but I do have Netflix...those who have seen it, is it worth watching or would you rather you hadn't seen it?
It isn't beyond the realm of possibility that people would just stick their heads in the sand. After all, there are only a handful of people actually keeping the world going, and these aren't the faces we would know or the ones with enough zeroes in their bank accounts to be mistaken for the GDP of a nation. Somehow the general population has become contented they don't need to be concerned about things and the "experts" would fix them. Or God, because he/she works in mysterious ways.
The movie is hilarious! It is excellent! I really enjoyed it! 👍👍👍👍
Watched this movie this morning while the rest of the house was asleep. Planning to watch it tomorrow with family. I find it frightening something—that would have been 100% absurd ten years ago—is so very plausible today. The film is amazing.
I couldn't get over how much LDC looked like Milton from Office Space.
I saw someone watching this on my flight home after Christmas and thought to myself, "I really hope that's satire because if not it's even worse than Armageddon!" Thank goodness it is satire...
It's more of a cynical comment on the current state of American society and politics than a satire.
Load More Replies...This is exactly how america was under trump. It is exactly like this movie. Jonah was don jr. The billionaire guy was biden mixed w Elon musk. Streep was trump. This is how it still is w the republicans and conservatives they are exactly like the don't look up cult. If you don't live here in the US you won't understand I guess. If you do live here and don't understand what this movie was saying it's bc you're one of those conservative trumpers. It wasn't supposed to be funny. It was supposed to be depressing bc under the gross elite and the gross politicians we are doomed.
