34 Heartbreaking Pics Of Overworked Doctors Are Going Viral, Proving That They Too Have Human Limits
As the number of people testing positive for coronavirus is skyrocketing around the globe, with more than 35K confirmed in the US alone, tragic milestones are hit daily. Death tolls in Italy have reached 5,476, while Spain has been hit with 1,813 losses. It’s now clear that curbing the pandemic will take a full-blown battle.
And medical workers are now fighting on the front line. The heartbreaking pictures below serve as living proof of what’s happening behind the emergency doors. From eternal shifts that leave their faces severely bruised to working without proper equipment and risking lives—the sacrifice is overwhelming. While you scroll through the pictures, take a moment to think about these heroes and thank them.

Face After 13 Hours ICU Work
"I don't love selfies.
Yesterday, though, I took this photo. After 13 hours in ICU.
I am not a hero. I am a normal person"
Great articles and it seems to be very controversial for a lot of people online, questioning are they mask's mark are real or fake or are those pictures are another Covid-19 propaganda....SO SAD for me but everybody has the right to think, what they like. I would love to contact with those people in person to say THANK YOU for your dedication and being part of the heroes to clearing up the world
Thank God you are there saving lives at your own risk, thank you and I'm praying for you health and safety
Nurse After Hours Of Work In Intensive Care
Thank you so much for all your dedication and hard work. Stay save and God bless you! It would be nice to know your name, please. My name is Catrina
Blessings and prayers of protection sent to you. Please get some rest when you can.
Oh my! She earned every micro-second of it. Something totally selfish and wonderful needs to greet her the day she isn't required to time in.
I’ve Been A Critical Care Nurse For 13 Years, And I’ve Never Seen Anything Like What Is Happening Now In Our Healthcare System. It Is Beyond Overwhelming
"Not only are all of us fighting to survive the contagion itself, we are fighting for protection from an industry that failed to adequately prepare us for this pandemic. Everyone is scrambling. Our skills and expertise are being put to the test in every way imaginable right now. And it’s only just getting started."
its her job she didnt ask for thanking her
Load More Replies...Nurses often shoulder the most. Thank you. Rest while you can.
Thank you and its unthinkable that the hospitals have put the bottomline above the safety of staff by only keeping minimal supplies stocked to reach their budget goals... it revolting! Who is suffering? Not administration, no it's the nurses and doctors who are at risk!
I understand completely. I work as an RN in the aged care sector.
I have first hand experience of what nurses do day in and day out when my mother was admitted to a hospital couple months ago for severe depression disorder. Nurses are lifesavers, caregivers, friends and more importantly they are there for you. A big salute to all of the nurses and your staff. Thank you for your incredible sacrifice for the society. God bless you all. ❤️❤️
The best way could thank you, the Drs and all of our first responders is to stay at home and stop spreading this insidious disease. Thank you for all that you do
These images stand as powerful reminders of the health crisis we are in right now. Dr. Anna Yaffee, a director of Global Health at Emory University, believes that sharing them is particularly important. “Sharing the images reinforces the point that there are people out there who are working tirelessly around the clock to provide lifesaving supportive care to those who are sick,” she commented.
But what makes frontline workers’ job particularly difficult is the shortage of protective supplies and hospital equipment. New York Mayor Bill de Blasio stated on Sunday that the city is “about 10 days away from seeing widespread shortages. If we don't get more ventilators, people will die."

Load More Replies...Mother Theresa was once asked if she felt guilty about the people who died while she was asleep. She said no, because if she did not get her rest, even more people would die. Please take care of yourselves, no matter what that may mean. You are only human.
Blessings on you. You absolutely must take reasonable care of yourself. What would the people do without you?
Please take care of yourself or you won’t be able to do your very very strenuous job!!!!
Thank you sounds silly for people that do your type of job wether is these times or not... but I know it goes a long way!! So THANK YOU x infinity!!!
This Is What You Look Like After Wearing An N95 Mask All Day. We Don’t Have Enough Of Anything. Help Us Help You
So very sorry that you are suffering from taking care of the people that are suffering from the virus. All of the healthcare professionals around the world are doing everything they can to help care for the sick and they deserve our thanks and more.
Hopefully as more people stay home the burden put on you will lesson, and you can take time to care for yourself. I wish a good nights sleep, a nice warm shower, and relief from your mask soon! Thank you!!!
Trump disbanded the NSC pandemic to supposedly save money ... this is the f*****g result of his complete ignorance on everything government and public safety related things. The outbreak probably could be handled a lot better if we were standing around with our heads up our asses, running around IN PUBLIC panicking ironically. https://apnews.com/ce014d94b64e98b7203b873e56f80e9a
Even though I agree, this isn't helping the people who are in the thick of this crisis. The front lines are being manned by overworked people and are appreciated.
Load More Replies...I am so sorry you are facing this crisis!! We love you. We need you. Every second you have, please take care of YOU. <3
You Do have enough of one thing, steadfast determination. Scars will fade with time but the echo of your deeds will resound immortal.
This Is An Anesthesiologist, Dr. John Henao, Who Is Running Out Of Ppe (Personal Protective Equipment) At His Hospital
"He, like most of us, are currently working under the assumption that most people are Covid19 positive and asymptomatic, but in order to save our dwindling supplies of PPE, are only using them for known cases of Covid19. In order to safely intubate all patients he had to jerry rig his own gear. He put on a CO2 sampling nasal cannula. He then put on a regular old plastic bag on over his head with a seal (you can see he taped it tightly around his neck). He ran the oxygen at 10 L/min. He sampled his CO2 to monitor. He did this for 10 min (long enough to intubate a patient). THIS is what we have to do because we have no PPE. I am horrified. I cannot even begin to know if this is safe and cannot recommend it. But, sure, we’ll be safe with bandanas, scarves, and homemade cloth masks. (That, folks, is sarcasm). For my friends who are fellow physicians, please be safe, and for those of you who are not, please call or tweet or write your elected officials to demand that we are given adequate equipment in order to treat you safely"
Your dedication is unbelievable! A million thank you and please keep your self safe!
I can not tell you how sorry I am. Somehow no one listened to what was coming out of China to get ready ourselves. A world wide pandemic was suppose to be the worst thing that could happen to us. No one talked about a pandemic which anyone was ill prepared for. Sending Prayers for strength and safety.
What you are forced to do is criminal. The incompetent narcissist in the White House is responsible for this catastrophe and should be imprisoned!
WOW. Just...wow. You are so appreciated and it's too bad you can't even get a break that you deserve while taking care of the rest of "us"...a million Thanks to you, and all of the nation's medical staff
OMG. I hope you get the necessary protection so that you can do your job safely. May God protect you from this horrible virus!
Tragic. Taping a bag over your head in order to safely practice is tragic. Thank you.
You sir are one of the bravest men I've ever seen and we thank you. I will be calling our state officials tomorrow morning!
Thank you for your dedication and devotion to helping those of us who are ill from this virus and other causes. We need you. We need you to take care of you as well. I am one of those at home making facemasks as fast as I possibly can to help our medical community and those who work in grocery stores. (((Hugs)))
When you do not have PPE for yourself... cover up the patient. Use clear drop clothes cheap online. This is 9 foot wide 400 foot long so just precut these sheets and drop them down over the patient's ENTIRE bed during a code and during intubation and insertion of lines. https://www.homedepot.com/p/HUSKY-9-ft-x-400-ft-Clear-1-mil-Plastic-Sheeting-CF0109-0400C/202184027?mtc=SEM-BA-F_PB-G-Multi-Multi-Husky-NA-NA-DSA-NA-NA-Catch_All_BT3&cm_mmc=SEM-BA-F_PB-G-Multi-Multi-Husky-NA-NA-DSA-NA-NA-Catch_All_BT3-71700000023577655-58700002495773633-39700021474223105&ds_rl=1178140&gclid=Cj0KCQjw6_vzBRCIARIsAOs54z6QGui5fYo49jp-E38HsX9waEQWeZYcReZPTp5_nxnuSkoHlxMk_JIaAkCWEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

My Battle Scars
"Life as a front line during this period ain’t easy, to be honest it sucks. You kiss your love ones good bye before heading to “war zone”. U wear every level of protection needed to ensure u do not be contacted with any of this virus and to not bring the virus back to the loved ones at home. You wear face shield/ goggles / N95 some even wear PAPR at work, trust me it ain’t easy to breath wearing any of those (N95 & PAPR) and with all that protection on, u work quick and fast, catching your breath with every step u make because LIVE MATTERS.
After finishing your shift sweaty with tiredness, aching back, sore calf, painful ankles. you found out that not only your Annual Leaves are frozen, you are not even allowed to leave the country as a front line staff and worst of all is when you have to cancel your wedding reception because both you and your significant other are front liners and you both are needed to fight the “war” because LIVE MATTERS.
Now after work I shower and wear back your uniform with pride, u take public transportation just to go home and rest because tomorrow is another for “war” but when u board the train or bus. People say u bring germs/ virus with u, that u are infecting other people and that u are INCONSIDERATE but u just be quite and leave the train or bus because u are tired after work to explain ur situation.
Now u tell us how are we suppose to feel or react?
Are we not human like everyone else?
Don’t we have love ones too?
Don’t we wish to go on a holiday too?
All got to say is,
I am a front line staff and this is my story."
All of your pictures and stories are heartbreaking and I wish you weren't going through this nightmare. Just know that you truly are heroes in my eyes!
Indeed!!! The Front Liners are Divine Angels and The Ultimate HEROES!!!
Load More Replies...You would think with the fact these people are putting their lives on the line that the damn facilities can arrange private transportation for them, if for any other reason, than to make sure separation is maintained. This keeps both the public and the healthcare workers safe.
My prayers go out to all of you FRONT LINE WORKERS. You are all doing a good job to save the precious lives of our loved ones. THANK YOU. And THANK YOU JESUS for protecting these people and their families. ANEN
OMG!!! I pray that EVERYONE will read these comments/documentaries!!!
God bless you and all the other front line medicos and emergency workers. You are brave people doing an amazing job under difficult conditions. Sorry you have to put up with such disrespect too.
Thank you and bless you for fighting in the trenches while the majority of us shelter in place.
This Is My Mom. She’s 71 Years Old And Screening People From The Afternoon To Midnight. Thank The People That Expose Themselves And Go Through Hell Just To Make Sure People Are Safe
GOD BLESS YOU. 79 and still helping. a hero without a cape right their
At 71 years of age, she is at high risk and is on the front lines. Very brave. Thank you.
At 71 .. my hat is off to you. You are beautiful with the best heart but you are high risk for the terribly complications that this disease dishes out. Prayers for safety or better yet I hope they can find someone else for this job. Take care of yourself
OMG! Looks like she's sitting in a toilet stall to get a break!!! Plus, she's only 71 and not 79 as one comment said! Though, I'll bet that after a while, she justifiably feels that age!!!
God Bless YOU!!! Thank you so much for all you are doing!! I wish you safety. <3
Nurses Take Off Their Face Masks After A Grueling Shift In Fight With Novel Coronavirus
what is the meaning of your comment i thought mugen was a fighting game with charachters from different games and anime
Load More Replies...Wow, Mugen. You're a spiritually and ethically bankrupt human being. So very grateful not to know you.
You are beautiful, and the bruises and cuts are there for every person you try to save from this disease, and every person who might go home and cause the death of a child or grandparent. I am so sorry for your pain and exhaustion but you are my hero. Thank you!
Mugen the ignorance is uncalled for, instead of being hateful, xenophobic, and just an all around jerk why not trying to be encouraging to all humanity, but especially the healthcare professionals trying to keep everyone alive. Have you considered how traumatic this is for everyone, but especially those working diligently to help others at the risk of their own lives. Also these types of things usually have an original host in the form of litter critter and then a zoonotic transmission occurs, maybe do some research before you spread stupidity and ignorance even more.
God bless you, Angel. Stay healthy and thank you for your dedication and service!
God bless you for your service. Ignore the unspeakable ignorance I am seeing here. Stay safe and thank you!
You are a beautiful and selfless spirit and deserve nothing less than our gratitude, our admiration, our love. You are what gives me HOPE, your light will shines and will help guide the world through these dark times.
Ditto on this sentiment, they are being so generous to help the rest of the World citizens, when they are at the highest risk themselves! What a beautiful way to thank her. Thank you for sending the positive words i didn't have!

This angers me that these health professionals are working without the required equipment. It is so wrong!
It's because people are hoarding equipment like idiots
Load More Replies...I wouldn't be surprised to see this picture i a history book years from now, illustrating the shameful lack of proper gear..
You really think so? Not if the government has any say.
Load More Replies...Awful .. this is no time for the blame game but this should have never been. we knew in January what could possibly happen and some how the ball was dropped. Prayers to all especially those without proper gear. Ebay has all kinds of n95 maks that these people bought strictly for profit and they are making about $20 for what would normally be a dollar or two while our medical community goes without. Let the attorney general go after all of them. Let there be medical supplies available
Ebay isn't letting people sell any of this stuff. Anybody with this stuff is either stuck with it or will eventually have to break down & donate. Which is what some have done. But the quantity is miniscule compared to what is truly needed.
Load More Replies...Dr. Joy, thank you for al, you do. For your goggles/glasses. you can get clear glasses that has a gasket in them that go around your eyes. They are very comfortable. They had them at Home Depot and Lowe's or a hardware store.

Yeah. Jerks and racists don't deserve it anyway.
Load More Replies...Yes, Mugen!! Please do us a favor and go get hit by a bus. Orrrrr 5... You're a nasty little bridge-troll that doesn't deserve the attention you're getting because honestly, ya shouldn't even exist on this planet with the rest of us, you racist little a*s-hat. Your whore of a mother should have saved us all the trouble of HAVING to share oxygen with your r******d, ignorant-a*s self and swallowed your skank-father's load instead, so you couldn't grow into the mess you are. Now again, go get hit by a bus, you uncultured slug.
This Mugen character is trolling so very hard to get attention since in real life he/she is a nobody, so keep treating Mugen as who he/she really is & ignore, since it’s nobody anyway.

As Most Of The World Is Isolating, Shutting Down, And Running As Far A Away From The Virus This Guy, Will Be Running Into It. This Guy Is My Guy And He Is An Emergency Room Doctor
"Today, my husband will be trained on how to don & doff - put on and take off a full protective suit. He will learn how to use and remove his gloves, masks, & eye shield protection. His mask will be tested. His gear will be poked and prodded with him in it. His nerves will be tested too but, he won’t fuss. People are sick and this his job. My husband is also part of a medical covid_19 team that will be doing everything & giving their everything to ensure as many people as possible come out on the other side of this crisis. He, along with the every other extraordinary nurse & frontline worker knows one thing is for sure - life how we have known it won’t look the same over the next several weeks. He will have to make devestating and heartbreaking decisions. He will be super exposed to the sickest patients. Some nights he will come home and need to talk. Other nights he won’t want to speak at all and that’s ok because I will be there. I’m so grateful I can be.. My husband does not like accolades or much attention, hence the very few pics of him on IG. Though now more than ever he and every other frontline worker needs to be told they are our heroes. Please do the same. In France while in lockdown, social media users have launched an initiative to show gratitude & support we applaud To every doctor & to all the other frontline heroes thank you. Thank you so much for your dedication & determination to fight this virus and to help those who need you now and need you the most"

Nurse's Face After A Long Shift
You would think with all the amazing minds and available industry in the world someone could come up with a safe, comfortable, affordable PPE that wouldn't hurt or damage our most important medical workers - God Bless You !!!
Think in terms of something that has to fit every individual face shape, contour to every face dip, fit snugly by the eyes up against the nose so that absolutely no droplet of moisture from a sneeze or cough can get in but safety glasses must also fit snugly in case the airborne toxin can enter through the eye mucosa. Then, the material must also fit snugly around the individual's cheekbones, mouth and chin. It has to be malleable enough to fit snugly while the individual moves one's head and speaks. The N95 is the mask that fits this description the closest. It is also the most expensive. It is also the one some (most) hospitals didn't have in stock for this very reason. (budget). And, like everything in America, demand drives price; thus N95 masks are never going to be "affordable". And until the government decides citizens are more important than guns, medical supplies and medicine will forever be in short supply & over priced.

Here’s Mine From Yesterday After Only 4 Hours
Thank you for the essential work you are doing under such awful circumstances
Nurse After Hours Of Work In Intensive Care
You gotta know how much those very sick people love to see you coming to their bedside.
Here’s A Massive Thank You To The Icu Nurses, Intensivists, And Rts Who Are Wearing This Ppe For An Upwards Of 30-40 Minutes, If Not Longer
"If you were to wear an N95 mask properly for about 5-8 minutes in a patient’s room to let’s say take your patient to the bathroom safely, administer medications, or do an assessment, you’d probably have marks similar to these on your face
Not only are you left with these temporary marks, but you quickly experience difficulty breathing after the first few minutes of applying the mask. You also start to heat up from the layers of gown, gloves, and eye shield
...so here’s a massive thank you to the ICU nurses, intensivists, and RTs who are wearing this PPE for an upwards of 30-40 minutes, if not longer, during invasive (aerosol-generating) bedside procedures. Whether they’re dealing with an extubation or are all hands on deck during a code, they deserve a huge shout out for the physical exhaustion they endure when providing the safest & best care possible to their patients
*Disclaimer - this photo was taken at home after wearing one of my Dad’s masks that he uses for work (he works in settings with fresh paint, dust, sanding, and welding)"
N95 masks are unbearable and very tight fitted. I bought one at the hospital a month ago where my mother was admitted. There is so much toxicity and pollution in the air that I had to buy it to cover my face when I go out. I understand well what you are going through wearing these masks. I feel sad for you and all the nurses/doctors out there. Stay safe. Thank you and God bless you. ❤❤
so right, it is hot, I only wear the isolation gown when I am volunteering at the hospital (not there while this is going on) and I have to wear a short sleeved shirt under it or I am cooking long before it is time to leave.
Well, at least dad has a hint of a clue about what you're going thru!!! And U know some of what he goes thru also!!! That's a nice situation! ...Mine never cared about me or my experiences! ...Count your blessings!!! Love, Iadora U!!!
I want to think of those red marks as war paint for the warriors y'all are!
Hospital Policy Now Mask At All Times. I Have Been Doing In Ccu Anyhow. Critical Step To Reduce Transmission, For Example Among Asymptomatic Hcws
"Not sure can do nationally because not enough masks. Need more than proclamations - need factories converted and running"
YES! Trump enacted the Defense Production Act as he said, "Just in case." He has NOT ordered any companies/factories to convert and produce. Disgusting. I only hope he will be held responsible (and possibly prosecuted?) for this when he leaves office. I lose sleep thinking of you all.

Can we change the title to healthcare workers instead of doctors? There are so many nurses included here and so many people on the front lines besides the doctors.
We all need to do our part to lessen the load for these overworked, underappreciated, underfunded(equipment and materials) health care professionals and heed their and other official advice.
Ditto. STAY HOME so one day these people can go home too.
Load More Replies...Thank you to all doctors and nurses and every worker who are exposing themselves to provide essential services during this time. Thank you.
The last guy hit the nail on the head. While our politicians are turning to companies that are already fitted to make medical equipment and medical supplies, we need to also be going to the companies that can easily convert to making medical materials. Perfume and beauty product companies that can make sanitizer and soap. Clothing manufacturers that can make masks and protective equipment. Companies that make construction gear can make face masks normally used for painting and varnishing. It wouldn't take much to make them medical grade Anything to prevent the spread. Get companies to convert. Instead of handing money to the CEO's, use the money to temporarily convert companies to make products needed to fight this thing!!
A lot of companies have offered their production lines to be adopted but it's all not that easy also often supply lines are interrupted, companies who can produce don't know where to get resources from and companies with resources don't know who has demand. For example alcohol ran out in my country (yes this is possible it seems) and it took 2 days to get new supply. A lot of chaos all over. The people responsible are working almost 24/7 to get things coordinated but it's all a big mess and will take time to get it sorted out. And we need to work together and share. My country sent a plane load of emergency equipment to China when the virus was at it's peak there. Extreme right wing politicians went crazy because we would need it ourselves. Yes now we do, but guess what: China sent 3 planes with equipment back to us. Also China, Russia and Cuba is sending doctors to Italy to help. Isolate the people under risk but not the help.

Why would we want people who are making life or death decisions to be exhausted? It makes no sense. We, in the US, already pay a LOT more for healthcare than anywhere else in the world. The only excuse for our healthcare staff being overworked and underpaid is GREED.
Please, PLEASE take this seriously. My brother and sister-in-law are nurses, and last week she fell asleep driving home. She's okay, but that's not the point. If these lockdowns work, we'll feel like it was pointless BECAUSE WE WON'T HAVE AN EMERGENCY. For all you gamers out there, this is how the Forerunners stopped the Flood, sans "killing all life." Please don't kill my family with stupid and selfish behavior.
Maybe change the title of this to "... overworked medical staff" and not just "Doctors".. There's also nurses and techs doing most of direct patient care and then phlebotomists, lab techs, rad techs, registration, housekeeping, transport, EMTs and medics.
i pray that all the nurse and doctors who are fighting this stay well.
I am one less worry for these people. I stay at home and I even don't want to call for food delivery so that some poor delivery guy with family wouldn't have to worry that he'll catch my virus in case I'm one of the asymptomatic people out there. Stay strong doctors and nurses! BTW, all of their eyes look haunted.
these are the real heros the parents the teachers the medical staff the retail workers, not the governments that care only for the money and fame
We all need to do our part to lessen the load for these overworked, underappreciated, underfunded(equipment and materials) health care professionals and heed their and other official advice.
Ditto. STAY HOME so one day these people can go home too.
