DesignCrowd Challenged Their Community To Change The Location Of Historic Monuments, Here Are 30 Of The Best Submissions
Most of us have seen or at least visited some of the world’s most famous historical monuments. It would probably be hard to find a person who doesn’t know what the Eiffel Tower is, or the Statue of Liberty or Christ the Redeemer. But what if, all of a sudden, these historic monuments changed places? For the most part, it would definitely be... very confusing, but it would also be a very interesting sight!
If you’d just like to see what the designers came up with, then think no further and just scroll down!

Historic monuments placed in various places across the world in ways that almost feel surreal and magical are definitely a sight to behold. The talented members of Designcrowd (a website dedicated to digital art/photo manipulation contests) decided to participate in a photoshop contest where the main challenge was to place historic monuments in unusual places across the planet.

The Lincoln memorial is best in April w the cherry blossoms and the paddle boats
I lived in WDC for 1-1/2 years and one night one of my friends and I bicycled down from The Hill, where we lived, and down the mall. I saw the Lincoln Memorial without anyone else but my friend, and then we rode over to the Jefferson Memorial, circled around the pond, and then rode back to our respective apartments up on The Hill. An absolutely lovely evening 45 years ago.
I love the big octopus swimming like in a relaxing bath.... oh, no, being attacked!
Ah, a fellow member of the dimension hoppers guild I presume?

If you are as curious as we are, you can go ahead and do your very best checking out their other themed contests such as photoshopped classical paintings, clouds, and even animals as plants. Of course, there are way more themed contests but we linked only the most recent ones for now!
Great, as if we didn't have enough nightmare fuel without your inventing space mongolians
Load More Replies...With all of that being said, we also think it's important to see the emotional power of architecture. One only needs to look at some of the world’s famous monuments and memorials to be mesmerized. Therefore, designing these structures is often a challenging proposition. Architects must balance meaning and aesthetics, all while keeping the person or people being memorialized at the center of the design, but can the same be said for the very designers of Design Crowd?
"Isn't it weird Philip how this bouy is always exactly in this position and doesn't bob up and down?" "Stop wasting time and fish boy."
It's up to you to decide, Pandas! Choose your favorite works amongst them all and see if they are worthy to be compared to the original and iconic pieces of art (and their place). We believe that historical monuments are important destinations for locals and travelers alike, but would you prefer to see these monuments in other parts of the world?
There are more than 2 pyramids, so what? I'd like to see the lions like book ends. I would think that civilization would have built more shaded walks and parks . . .
riddle me this, riddle me that, the Sphynx wouldn't go near the water, it's half cat!
"What the heck is this?!?! Steve, did you do this?" "It wasn't me, I swear! I just found them here!"
They can fly. They just do it when Sir David Attenborough and his film crew ain't around. 😉

It reminds me of the Royal Gorge in Colorado. I'm not brave enough to cross it.
Load More Replies...Fun Fact: The sculptor of this statue had a family member who was deaf (I no longer remember which one) and he sculpted Abe’s left hand in the form of an A and the right into an L in American Sign Language.
A whole lot of this article doesn't even strike me as "if monuments were somewhere else" as much as "how these places will probably look in the future".
Some of these photos definitely look like time travel to the future. Very spooky actually and another reminder of how we’re running out of time to lift our game.
Load More Replies...It's actually a Soviet monument for the battle of Stalingrad. The woman represents the Motherland ;)

That’s not the Kremlin, that’s Saint Basil's Cathedral located on a Red Square near the Kremlin. It’s a cultural landmark, not really a political symbol.
Load More Replies...St Paul's Cathedral is in London. Not everything has to be about the US.
Load More Replies...What? A country so self obsessed it thinks St Paul's cathedral is in America and not London?
Load More Replies...Already happened. *sigh* But maybe we can find Greenland on eBay?
I always thought the US should buy Mexico then flip it. It could even be a show on HGTV. Then, since the men have failed at returning it to its former glory, only women are allowed to run the country. Moms. Just moms.
In the fall/winter of 1977, I took my first trip abroad, just winging it on destinations (based on where I had places to stay), so I went out to Salisbury borrowed a bicycle from the woman whose B&B I was staying in, and rode out to Stonehenge. The weather was broody and threatening rain, Stonehenge was not yet enclosed, and I was the only person for miles around. It was one of the most magical days of my life.
Taking the Golden Gate Bridge over the Grand Canyon—that’s a whole different bridge from the one that stretches between San Francisco and Marin County! 🌉🌁🌉
Yes. But neither the sky, beach or water is grey in this pic.

Not a great leap here, the Louvre already has a pyramid in that spot.
Tbh I was confused until I read your comment. Like, it already looks like that.

It’s hard for me to think of the Trevi Fountain without Anita Ekberg walking through it—one of my all-time favorite movie scenes in one of my all-time favorite movies!
No disrespect to Abraham Lincoln, of course...

I remember watching Armstrong and Aldrin bouncing around on the moon. My mother got us all up to watch all of the space launches because it was incredibly exciting and absolutely historic. Not sure how dudes managed to overlook Mount Rushmore though...

Watching the Burj Khalifa sail over a waterfall [Angel Falls, Niagara Falls, Bridal Veil Falls] would be trippy!
Should they do another ‘shop with the Burj too?

I guess those iconic landmarks all in one place makes this the four corners of the world...
They are clever but ........ I t seems to be more about the cleverness of the manipulation than getting a great photo.
I have to admit that these are cool. They are freak me out because of climate change and the rising seas.

Okay, so let's have a few pictures taking away something . . . like the rebels on Stone Mountain
Something about the water ones makes me feel uneasy. But, these are really cool, even the water ones. 😁
These are really lovely. I think the loveliest are the ones set in snow - there's something very desolate about snowy landscapes. Beautiful desolation. And the creations really display how wonderfully architectural elements all fit together, regardless of place, age, or function. It gives me a sense a combined humanity, if that makes sense.
