I think it is more due to mass denial. Children are growing up not being taught to eat properly and no one wants to admit responsibility for their inability to not eat c**p. If anyone makes a point of someone killing themselves through eating rubbish causing obesity, it is offensive. Yet tobacco cartons have photos of lung cancer etc....

TRUTH! When I drastically limited sugar and carbs from my diet, it really made me start paying attention to the foods I eat. We shouldn't be consuming more than 25 grams of sugar a day. When you start checking food labels, you see how disgustingly sugared our foods really are. Even something as simple as a bottled Frappucino (a refreshing beverage I have always enjoyed) has two days worth of sugar. It's really opened my eyes.

I hate this! There where people in my school who always got on other girls about how they looked! One of my friends ran to me crying saying "I'm ugly!" So she tried acting like the other girls. It's open to interpretation - the way I looked at it was that people kept trying to stamp his individuality out of him by pressuriing him to take the shape that meets societal expectations... and eventually it worked. He's now a fully fledged member of the rat race :(

If you learn a technical trade skill, you may well be better off. Heating/air, plumbing, and electrician, are just three that pay very well. And the biggest plus is that you can easily go into business for yourself. I love the knowledge I gained from my bachelors(history), and masters(physical anthropology), but my PhD is in Mechanical Aptitude. Guess which one I use for making a living? :D

Yes the trades are a good start. Electrical though to be successful requires real technical training has become more technical and less mechanical. The other thing to recognize is that your old body will not do so well with a physical job over the years especially with constant use. Also to be in business for yourself you need a business oriented mind. I should know I have worked for an electrician for 15 years as the office manager. I have seen workers that were not trained to do anything else and how their old bodies fail them due to over use. I have also seen what havoc poor business management can do to the health of a business.

If you think this isn't sexist, you don't know what sexism is. It is sexist towards both the male and the female in this drawing: the same old stereotypes that men only think about sex because they're some crazed animals with no self control or respect for others, and that women can't possibly be sexual beings and are in just for other benefits such as money.

I think part of the psychology behind this behavior is that a decent portion of the world sees poverty as a consequence of laziness and refusal to find work as opposed to the myriad of systemic issues at work. An animal, on the other hand, cannot possibly be to blame for their abondonment or dire circumstances.

This is a bit too provocative to me. People, at least if they are not mentally challenged, have a chance left to help themself, e.g. to seek services that help the homeless or even apply for welfare, which exists at least in many Western countries (if they do so or are willing to do so is another story, I am not judging that). Animals, in particularly former pets who have been abandonded, do not possess this possibility.

It makes me sad to see so many comments hating on humans. Yes dogs are generally human's fault but so are homeless children. If you honestly believe that a dog's life has more value than a child's, then you aren't any better than the author you're all complaining about. How about valuing life as life no matter where it comes form? Perhaps people are living a little too sheltered and have no experience with poverty. It honestly comes across so pretentious.

Animals can't do anything about the situation they're in. Most humans can. They can seek help for their problems. You can't help someone if they don't want to be helped. Also, I've stopped giving money to beggars. If I can, I'll offer to buy some food but I'm not giving money. Alot will just use it for smokes, booze or drugs. And other "beggars" who beg for money all day long, hop in a real expensive car at the end of the day so... I think it's kinda understandable if people would rather help an animal than a human...

A lot of people on the streets have mental illness and not capable of helping themselves. Yes, some people asking for money are trying to cheat you--I've seen a new Mercedes pull up to a mom and daughter with a "help us" sign, and a different mom and daughter get out to take over the spot. First mom and daughter get in the car and drive off. But this is not the majority. And, think about if you were on the street in the cold or extreme heat ... if someone gave you a little money, would you get some food to fill your belly, or some beer to numb your pain? Maybe if more people were good to people in need, there would be more homeless in homes and THEY could help the stray animals.

This might not be valid for India and many other countries ,because begging is actually a business here.Funded by or for drugs and bribery. I would help the kid if I know he wouldn't be forced to give up ( for example the cash) to an older guy for the guy's profit but help the voiceless dog because no one else would-I would help the dog each and every time because it is unable to take care of itself.The dog is probably a result of some irresponsible owner.

No. I'll explain: You have your phone, you drink one "beer" nothing happens to your phone. Second round, you have your phone and drink 4 beers, you end up calling your ex; so with 8 beers you crack your phone and with twelve you end up losing it.

I disagree, it also depends on how the person decided to deal with it. If you keep it all to yourself, then yeah, that's pretty much what'll happen, but if you allow others to be there for you, your heart will only get bigger and stronger.

The best things in life seem to take work. Growing things, developing skills, maintaining health, having worthwhile relationships. Money doesn't change hands for everything but work is traded for money in our system most of the time. We are slaves to our buying habits/the things we're forced to buy to survive + the things we are brainwashed into thinking we need to buy to fit in, or feel inferior. The more we think we need stuff, the more of a slave we become. At the basic level the system is set up to make us dependent on money for food, heating/cooling, fuel for transport, water, sewerage, electricity for our communication/internet accessing equipment which we all seem to be addicted to. At the other end of the spectrum there's pressure to maintain a higher expenditure level: bigger houses, supercars, clothes, luxury holidays and more and so no one seems to end up being free of the system.

You can still get rejected by your potential partners. Also, you must give a good reason for people to work for you (support you), otherwise, you go broke. Also, startup is a challenging step to make, which requires lots of negotiating. And once you succeed, it needs maintenance and responsibility.

The tree should be happy, it's fulfilling its destiny. Christmas trees are renewable. They grow for 10-12 years producing oxygen, they continue to produce oxygen in the home, and it you take them down before they brown, they can be fed to goats and sheep.

I don´t know what did Hans said but, I really don't have much sympathy to them. In Argentina, we are quite polycultural. We have some discrimination but not much against the arab community. We welcomed sirian families, since much of our own european ancesters came here because of ww2 breaking in their homes. Our grandparents still share horror stories. And they came here and rebuilt their lifes, against the time dificulties, such as poverty and barrier language in most cases. Anr they succeded. 3000 sirians were welcomed here, given a place to live and an opportunity to rebuild a life. Some are adapting slowly, but others, after 4 months of being here, they have bought a ticket back to Alepo. Why? They say that they wont earn as much money than in their homeland. They have received house (which is more than any native can ask here from the government), and some neighbours had even lended cars. They still prefer money over safety. I find that very ungrateful.

I get so sad watching my youngest brother growing up, I always played outside with my neighbourhood friends, as well as with my other brothers who are closer in age to me. But he doesn't seem to have that privilege, there are so few kids who actually go out to play with each other any more, and it really breaks my heart! I see him developing social anxiety and I want nothing more than to go back in time so that I can be the kid that goes outside to play with him :(

I'm a bit of a child of the flowers and broomstick maxi skirts, sun tops and flowers in your hair have always got my attention. I still see such styles in the clothing catalogs and pointing them out to my wife. She scowls but then again she is 5'2" and that might make her a trend setter. So, I sit and people watch and she glares at me. I have the finest flower in the garden, no doubt and have no interest in flitting flower to flower. I'm a guy and we're visual so I watch and smile and try to keep from drooling (at my age it happens without provocation). My real preference is a middle aged business woman who has taken the time to bring those old styles back into office attire. You go girls and I'll be admiring.

The yellow one might mean it's complicated but coming out anyway; The 'invisible' one is pretending it doesn't exist... the LL looks to mean 'denying it using marriage and family. Covered one on the bottom is simple denial - and the doors can't be opened until the cover comes off (no sex, perhaps?) The back door one... quietly exploring one's sexuality by 'alternative' methods. Thanks for the help on the clear one, Isabella. I was a little stumped. Creeped out by the guillotine one, tho.
