Cold-blooded, cold-hearted. It’s a common misconception that lizards are cold, distant creatures who would rather stay in their nests and hide from the world than have anything to do with us. While it’s safe to say that they aren’t as sentimental or affectionate as dogs and cats, some types of lizards are social butterflies and can get quite attached to their human keepers. It takes patience, but it works.
And despite what some may say, like that they’re weird or ugly, they’re incredibly fascinating reptiles. I can’t be the only one who was obsessed with them at a young age! They’re basically tiny dinosaurs, so the perfect combination of cute and badass, if I do say so myself.
Add that they show a range of interesting behaviors, and pet lizards can easily become a photographer’s favorite subject. So here we are, changing all the preconceived notions about them with this collection of cute lizards! This is the dumbest thing. I knooooow the internet loves them so much, but cats have an incredible amount of pretty bad bacteria in their saliva and under their claws from a variety of sources. This gram negative bacteria can be deadly to reptiles, even if the bacteria gets into a teeny tiny wound that the cat didn't create. Reptiles are slow healers and don't produce pus like mammals do. An inexperienced lizard owner may not realize that there's a serious issue brewing under the surface because the wound isn't weeping and/or doesn't "look" inflamed. Downvote me into oblivion if you must, but this is NOT cute. This is wreckless.

My Beardie (Sir Carlos) also watches movies on my laptop or 3DS. also YouTube has a channel just for Beardie babes but it's kind of a tease with how many crickets just pop by. Sir Carlos prefers drag race.

Those bloody alligator lizards latch on and won't let go. Have had too many run-ins with them. They're the stand and fight rather than run away variety. Had one latch on to my fingertip when I reached for a log on the woodpile. Regardless of how much shaking I did, it wouldn't let go. Had to lower my hand to the ground and step on the blasted thing to make it let go. My dislike of alligator lizards is real and deep. I now have a pellet stove with nice clean bags of pellets stacked in the garage. No more woodpiles for me.

My cats loved bringing them into the house. Pain to try to catch them, literally pain. I figured out I could use one of those long reach helper grab thing. Usually had to get them cornered. Then I could grab ahold of them then "fling" then off the back deck into our grassy, wooden yard. Got pretty good at it too! Moved up to even catch mice! My cats just wanted to play and chase the critters, not hurt or eat them.

You have to start by restricting the prey drive. The cat can't go outside and learn to chase and kill things. Plus, a lot of it is on the lizard's side. They are heat seeking missiles. Even more so than cats.

Presenting Teacup Noodle
Smaug was bought from a pet store (yes I know it’s bad to support them, but at the time I didn’t know it) where she was kept in a 10 gal with another aggressive leopard gecko, in the back room. Her living conditions were not too good (not proper hearing, cohabbing, crickets literally everywhere biting them) and I believe it to be a deformity caused by an untreated case of mouth rot she got at the store. It was a stressful environment and she was kept on dirty urate stained reptile carpet, so I believe she got mouth rot there. It wasn’t treated but by the time I bought her, it was healed on its own, but it did leave a bit of a ripple in her mouth. She’s still my beautiful spaghetti and it doesn’t cause her any trouble.

Finally!! A bearded dragon with a little pot belly. My daughter’s bearded dragon has a belly, and all the pictures I see of the other ones seem smaller. Her little guy has a bigger belly.
