"The customer is always right," reads customer service rule number one, popularized back in the early 1900s. Is this slogan truly correct, though? I'm pretty sure that anyone who's ever worked in this field has had the pleasure of encountering at least a few customers that were being rude to them for no apparent reason. I mean, we've even made a list of times customers acted like total jerks and got shamed for it.
And even though in such situations, the staff are expected to suck it up and stay collected, there's always a sneakier and a more subtle way to get back. Recently, TikTok user @officialtbw asked fellow customer service workers to share things they've done to a customer who has been rude to them, and started it all by revealing how he sometimes gives people cold butter instead of room-temperature, because he knows that cold butter will rip up their bread. Since then, thousands of TikTok users have jumped on the bandwagon by sharing their own little stories.
Without further ado, Bored Panda invites you to look through a list of some of the funniest, most savage and passive-aggressive ways customer service workers have gotten revenge on impolite customers. Don't forget to vote for your favorite ones and share your own stories in the comment section!

someone paid me $17 in change while laughing to their friend that I'd have to count it so I lost count 6 times right as I was about to be done countin
Two years ago in Poland a guy lost a trial and was ordered to pay the cost of court proceedings. As a sign of his discontent, he brought 30 kilograms of coins to the casher :D
Load More Replies...That's how it's done. You can tell when someone doesn't have a choice and they usually apologize for all the change. Normally change isn't all that bad! But for him to laugh at the misfortune.. It's good to lose count ;)
I'm also assuming the customer didn't have any of the change in rolls.
Load More Replies...It's funny for the "pranker" when it starts, but it's less funny when she and the friend have to wait 10 minutes until the counting is complete. So I'd say that they both had to pay for that joke.
I had a server who processed other table's orders before mine. When I asked him about it he said sarastically that the cook must not like me. I left him my 2 cents as a tip.
In the UK, you can reject payments of loads of change. For example, if you pay for something with pennies, once you get to 20p, any pennies after can be refused
Same here in Aus. I think any more than 20 coins can be rejected for a single payment, by law.

As a delivery driver I once spent the entire drive en route to a chronically rude customer's house shaking the bottle of soda they'd ordered
Hate to be a downer, but if the customer lets it sit for a minute or so, the CO2 will dissolve back into the fluid, and there won't be any spray (from Penn & Teller's "How to Play With Your Food). All that effort may have been for naught.
I took a deep breath and was extra nice to them. They were so triggered but sounded insane complaining to my boss about how nice I was being
I use this tactic regularly. The more irate they get, the calmer and more polite you are. When they realize you're not going to rise to the bait, they usually chill a bit because they realize they look like a massive d**k going off on someone who's being pleasant.
I DID THIS! So I had a friend-turned-bully like two years ago, and the way I fought my battle was by treating her like we were TOTALLY BESTIES and like there was nothing wrong. It was amazing to just watch her look so confused and outraged... while I sat there with I comically wide-eyed and innocent face. (the bully did make up with me later)
I worked in customer service once, and when I had rude customers I'd be sickly sweet to them, then at the end say something like, "it was so nice to speak to you"!
Good for you, why let some ahol ruin your day? And you know it just eats them up that you didn't lose your cool.
Load More Replies...I worked in retail for several years while in college and i would do this every time. Either they change their attitude or get even more mad.
Had the same thing happening to me...complained to the manager of the way I was smiling at them when they were submitting me to an undeserved diatribe for not wanting to bend the rules for oh, such important customers.
Load More Replies..."He is being too nice to us. That's equivalent to sexual harassment nowadays".
It's not in retail when you are behind the counter. You literally get paid to be nice and deal with crap with a smiling face. Trust me been there done that.

when I was a teacher I had a parent was constantly rude. I told her her baby started walking so she missed her first steps
Honest question, how can you be a teacher to a baby that's not even walking yet?
This is what I never understood about rude people...lots of people go through life acting like assholes and thinking they are getting away with it...remember just because you don't see the retribution of others doesn't mean it isn't there. If you're an ass I can guarantee people are getting even with you in ways you'll never realize. Do people not know that this is a possibility??
Nope, they think they are right and nothing can hurt them
Load More Replies...Why? All she did was tell the truth. Nursery teachers usually just don't tell people that the baby has started walking but most babies do take their first steps at daycare/nursery and not at home.
Load More Replies...I would never mistreat the person I was trusting to take care of my baby. That’s scary just thinking about.
Under blend their smoothies so the little chunks block their straws
Oh my god! That’s- that’s to far man. That’s too crazy! That’s worse than murder!!
I'm in heating & air and if they're rude...I tell them it'll take 3 days to get the part for their heater..even though I have the part. be cold karen
Worked at a Wendy's in HS. Do not piss of the people while ordering at the drive thru. JS
I was a Chef in high end restaurants for too many years. If we got pushy / rude / delusional customers, we'd make sure we held the order up just enough to really piss them off ...... as an aside, if he had 'difficult' customers, a Chef colleague of mine would routinely kick raw meat / fish around the staff toilet floor, rinse it off, then cook it .... there's a moral to this story ....
Hardly high end with bad hygiene practices lol Place should be shut down

When I was a cashier if anyone came to my register on the phone I always talked to them loudly to make it harder for them to talk on the phone
Was this fair though? I know my family was very overworked. I could never talk to my parents without finding them in a meeting or call somewhere. I know neither of my parents talked to friends on the phone in public, but they often had to take phone calls from their office. In some households, it could be impossible not to be on call.
Load More Replies...I really didn't care if someone was on a phone as long as they paid attention, paid the bill when their order was done and didn't wasted my as well as other customer's time.
Oh, that's annoying when people won't get off the phone for 5 damn minutes.
It's worse when they start a call when you're serving them.
Load More Replies...Yah, we have an unspoken policy not to assist a customer on the phone. We have been cussed out too many times for "interrupting" their conversations. It doesn't take anything but a second to pull the phone away and cover the mic if you can't hang up, or say "excuse me one moment" to the person they are talking to. They don't have to hang up the phone to use good manners.
I'm a librarian. If someone I assist accepts a phone call (more than "I'm busy right now, can I call back?") I simply walk away.
I've done that. It's amazing how often they'll finally notice that I'm not talking and say, "Did I miss anything?" "No, just the instructions on how we file your tax returns, how much you owe, who to pay, when to pay, your estimated tax payments, where to mail things, and such. Nothing important to you, apparently." Yes, it's cost me customers/clients, but in many cases, I don't care.
Load More Replies...I was taught to do so by 2 managers. Gladly. If they hold up a finger, we were allowed to "do work" behind the counter or call the next customer until they quit.
allow them to put their card in to pay and hit escape so they have to do it again. repeat until I feel better
Does that mean you were the cashier at Safeway when me and my mom went there? The same thing happened to use. Lol.
yeah nah i never did this just made sure to get them done with as quickly as possible, so they f**k off.
Problem is many staff would play childish tricks like this just because they can
If they threw their money at me to pay, I'd throw their change back at them, smile and walk away
I'm a cashier too and thought the same thing! Maybe she's a waitress?
Load More Replies...I did that once, and Karen went to my manager to sign up a complain. My manager got back to me and asked me why I throw her change. I put the prettiest smile on my face and said "I don't work in a brothel to throw money at me". She bursted in laughter and just said "please, don't do that to her again"
a customer at a bar I worked at years ago left the money on the bar so I had to reach for it, so I gave them their change the same way and I got slammed for it after they complained to the boss.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking - at a lot of jobs, the staff would be in trouble for the retaliation (even if justified).
Load More Replies...I hated it when people would hand me wadded up bills. Or pulled sweaty money from their bra. Freaking disgusting. I make sure to hand the cashier the money nicely.
My coworker was handed sweaty bra money the other day. She made a big deal of wiping each bill with hand sanitizer and a tissue.
Load More Replies...If you have your hand out to accept the Monday and they literally throw the money on the counter or they snatch the money out of your hand. Makes me really angry. No need for it. I hate seeing service people being disrespected, I worked in the industry for years, thankfully not everyone are assholes.
Someone did that to me once. I took the item he bought back, made the sale void and turned to the next customer. The guy didn't even have the guts to say something or ask for his money back.
I did that once. They put the change on the counter, which is annoying to pick up. I put the change on the counter for them. They got mad at me. I shrugged. I told them I give it back the way I get it.
I “accidentally” forget to take the sensors off so they have to come back and I can waste their “precious time”
I had a customer lose her S*** once because a coworker missed removing a security tag (honest mistake, sometimes they are very well hidden). She was a new cashier and there was an extra tag on the jacket. The store was pretty empty, so it shouldn't have been a big deal. The customer beeped at the door and came storming back yelling about how embracing it was and demanded a refund on her purchase. I helped her return everything because she was making the girl cry. I really wish I had thought of a passive-aggressive way to get back at her. point being, this could backfire. Honestly the way she reacted to the alarm was 1000x more embracing then setting the thing off. The few other customers in the store that hadn't paid attention to her when the alarm went off definitely noticed her when she threw a tantrum!
Oh I know those sort of people. Honestly do they really think anyone will take them seriously and respect them more, when they behave like tantrum throwing toddlers?
Load More Replies...you have no point, as there is no such thing as taking people's eyes out on purpose
Load More Replies...Reminds me of when I was in high school and went to the store with my dad to buy a laptop. My dad told me that I should get a laptop sleeve to protect the laptop, so asked if he could take the laptop out of the box to see if it fit. The person said no. My dad offered to leave his credit card there until the laptop was returned, to show that we would not steal it. The worker reluctantly agreed. And then it turns out they left the security tag on the laptop and we beeped when we walked out. :I
Horrible idea. I hope you are forced to deal with the incredibly angry customer when they return. And help them in every store they visit the rest of the day. And you wonder why some people are rude? Perhaps you should wonder why
Be nice to the wedding photographer. If you're not I include all the awful photos of you & sometimes even add some weight in photoshop
I hear you, but your next sale is based on your product. So you ruined their photos but you look bad.
Putting your bad photos out there for the world to see isn't a great business strategy for a pro photographer. I'd be more inclined to tell them that one or two specific photos they wanted didn't turn out.
My mother taght me to be kind to everyone even when they don't return the favor. So everyone I meet I always try to say yes mam/sir and no mam/sir and my ps and qs.
That's quickly becoming a thing of the past unfortunately. Too many people think they should be given respect without earning it.
Load More Replies...Well, that's just mean spirited and spiteful. They pay top dollar for your professionalism, and this just stinks. And you SHOULD be including ALL photos taken, regardless of how crappy they look. That's what you get paid for.
booked their airplane seat on a 10+ hour flight right next to the bathroom
But it's really convenient. You don't have to walk as far.
Load More Replies...I don't get why so many people are rude to ticket counter and gate agents. They don't control the weather or mechanical problems with the plane. If you're nice to them, they appreciate it - and it sometimes pays off. They'll occasionally do nice things for you.
yea once the whole plane was full and they let us go on first class for no additional cost

Used to work at a grocery store, if people were extremely rude to me I would squash their loaf of bread in my hand while packing it in a bag
...which would cost your employer when they had to replace the bread you damaged. Who again is it you were trying to hurt?
Ok I do not agree with this, no matter how rude a customer was I never took out my anger on products.
But then they could just exchange it as it's now a damaged item? Calling bs
But not until after they've driven home and brought all of their groceries into the house. The they have to drive all the way back to the store to exchange it.
Load More Replies...Well, with good dark German bread this would require a lot of muscles... guess they need to find another way for revenge here.
When I was sixteen I sold burnt bagels as pumpernickel to a grumpy old lady. Thankfully I was 16, this isn't how grown ups act.
LOL! This is my favorite because it’s SO annoying but not confrontational.
I put extra, extra hot sauce in their salsa then do not refill their drinks
My daughter worked as a server in an upscale restaurant, if a customer was rude she'd let her co workers know and they'd 'crop dust' the table (fart as they walked by)
If someone was being very rude to me I would save their number at the end of the day and put it in insurance offers and stuff so they would get calls
And down right illegal under data protection law.
Load More Replies...I'll do you one better; when I was working at a hardware store, one of the managers made me fill out an order over the phone, which cashiers aren't really allowed to do in the first place. It was a big order, and I had to write everything down to make sure I got it right. This little "inconvenience" angered the customer and he spent the entire call screaming at me over the phone and insulting me. When we were done, I looked at what I written and realized that his work address and the numbers for his business credit card were still on there. I waited a few months so it didn't look suspicious, then I ordered a couple hundred dollars of random stuff from different websites, plus one of those bags of gummy d***s from bagofdicks.com. I was proud to teach that piece of s**t a valuable lesson when it comes to being an asshole to strangers who are just trying to help, especially if you give them essential info like a credit card number.
I worked in the drive-thru at a Wendy's. rude people got broken straws for their sodas. because nothings more annoying than a cracked straw
You don't need straws anyway. Except when you have a handicap or are a toddler. Everyone else: ditch the straw.
If you're driving, a straw saves you the mess of spilling your drink on yourself or on the upholstery, and it enables you to focus more on the road.
Load More Replies...That all you have? I worked at a Wendy's drive thru in HS and the straw is just lame....
she payed me in ones.... i checked each and everyone up to the light
Or that people are just asses. Had a couple create a $50 tab at my restaurant. Handed the server a bag of change to pay. ALL CHANGE!!! And not even big change like quarters & fifty cent pieces. Like a freezer bag full of nickels, pennies, & dimes! Took forever to count, which we had to do with them there to make sure it covered the tab. They then got pissed off at US because it took so long to count & we were "holding up their night"... You'd be amazed what people think are appropriate in a restaurant setting...
Load More Replies...I once saw a man a goodwill who had to go to his car to get a whole bunch of pennies so he could pay for a suitcase. Mabey this woman could only pay this way
Here's a fiver, now dance somewhere else please. :)
Load More Replies...This is really rude. This person may have had only ones. It's a situation I'm in constantly, and i apologize every time, but this is only makes people feel worse.
Sometimes all I have is ones, I always say sorry cuz I don't want them to be mad at me.
That's how to handle it. If you acknowledge that it's inconvenient for all concerned, most people will say, "It's alright, been there, had to do that." It's the smug ones, especially the entitled well-off teens and millenials on their little power trips, that tick cashiers, servers, and such off no end. Back in my customer service says, if the customer acknowledged the situation, I showed them how quickly I could count ones, quarters, dimes, etc. If they just stood there and got all huffy and impatient, I showed them just...how...long...I...could...take--so long as there was no one behind them, of course.
Load More Replies...Really? I never give a crap how they pay, as long as they pay. If they're rude I just don't engage with them more than necessary. Nice people get a little chit-chat.
Sometimes if they get kids meals, I'll give each one a different toy so maybe the kids will fight over it and annoy the parents
But what happens if it's not the kids being rude, and it's the parents?
Load More Replies...Honestly, I would LIKE this. Whenever at McDonalds, my sister and I WANT different toys because we always get the SAME. TOY. EVERY. TIME.
My family want different toys in happy meals! Who wanys multiple of the same toy?
one time this happened to my brother and I at mcdonald's over some monster truck toys!

Load More Replies...I've given a tip back and said “ you clearly need this more than I do”
Well actually the dream is throwing it in their face BUT we take what little bits we can get! Lol!
Load More Replies...If you can’t tip or cannot tip properly then don’t go out. Especially if you’re someone who purposely looks for a server to meet unreasonable requirements to fulfill your waiting needs. Truly a “bad server” is someone who is blatantly disrespectful not someone who didn’t get you that refill or extra order of ranch moments after demanding it. You’re not the only customer and or table in the establishment I’m sure. They are not there to wait on your every need. They are there to take your order. Bring you your drinks and food and make sure your visit is adequate. I’ve never worked in the service industry or anything that relied on my income involving tips but I guarantee in the next life I come back and that is a profession I have...best believe I’ll be taken care of based on how I treat servers and tip.
whats nice as well while given TIP back is mentioning..."Toilets are for free...you dont have to pay for it"...lol
Yep, can’t afford to tip 20% stay home. It’s out of you budget to afford a server. Goto a buffet and go f**k your self!
I took my kids out for lunch and gave the waitress a 15% tip (what I could afford). She came to the table and asked if there was a problem, confused, I said no. She asked why I gave her such a small tip and actually threw us out!! (Jules Mae's restaurant, in Seattle)
That is truly awful behavior not yours the waitresses before people jump on me I was a waitress and I would never do that
Load More Replies...At my yard sale, lady offered 10 cents for a quarter item. I handed it to her and said if she wanted it that bad to just take it.
Having always lived in Australia, I still can't get my head around this 'tip' system. Especially the part about the tip being part of your pay? As in a way for your employer to pay you less than minimum wage or something? The f**k is wrong with your system? Tips should be a bonus. Given as a reward for good service. I get why everyone gets annoyed when they don't get a tip (or a good one) though, with the way this all works :/ Sometimes I wish the worlds problems could be fixed in a matter of at most a few years, sadly, life is a shithole and that'll never happen :(
Nah, miss me with bullshit. The irony is that large tips are used by restaurant owners to justify underpaying restaurant staff, so if you get huffy over a smaller tip, then just remember that the tipping system actually punishes restaurant staff and large tips work against them.
I work at a deli and when I customer is being a Karen I'll squish the cheese together after I slice it so it's impossible to separate later
Again, quit using "Karen" to denote a terrible person. Why not "John"
One time I gave someone their 99 cents change back in nickels and pennies because “that's all we had in store at the moment”
Be careful! They make fill a sock with those pennies and come back for revenge!
At Starbucks, when customers pay for a $3 coffee with a $100 the first thing in the morning. I don’t have $20s to give you. You get rolls of quarters, dimes, and nickels. Magically a $5/$10 would appear.
or a fast-reading chip on a credit card? No idea, but if someone paid, mission accomplished, I was taught.
Load More Replies...I put them on my “don't take cake from her” contact list so when they call, i always tell them I'm booked
"Difficult" customers are never profitable, because they always require more time and far more energy. You will always end up working more hours or re-doing things because they are never happy, and in the end you will always feel frustrated and exhausted. It's just not worth it.

I do this all the time. I'm a bartender and if I have to get off the bar and the person is being an asshole it is the best revenge and makes me forget what a jerk they are.
I work at a restaurant and I made a lady wait the entire 40 minute wait time we quoted her even tho her table was ready in 20 minutes

Load More Replies...I used to work at a coffee shop and if someone was rude to me, I wouldn't stir their coffee so that all the sugar would just sit at the bottom!
or you could over-sweeten their coffee. because they could stand to be a whole lot sweeter.
Don't do that, they may have diabetes and not know to accommodate for the extra sugar/sweetener. Messing with someone's life-threatening condition ain't cool (and yes I know how diabetes works, I've had type 1 for 31 years)
Load More Replies...So, where you live, if you buy a coffe it automatically has sugar in it AND staff stirs it for you? Interesting. Over here you add sugar yourself, after purchase, if needed.
Why are you in control of the sugar anyway? I make the coffee, if you want sugar you add it yourself!

I used to purposely put the french fries at McDonald's upside down so it would spill as they pulled them out
And here I thought I was the only one who knew that! Bag fries FTW! 🍟🍟🍟
Load More Replies...That's dumb. A complaint to the manager would make it look as if you didn't even know how to pack a bag properly, and get you fired. What manager wants an incompetent working on their team?
Not necessarily. You often have several people handling the different bags of food, so no way to know which employee did it.

Not offer whipped cream on their hot chocolate because it's the best and they're the worst
I'm honestly not a huge fan of whipped cream. I know a lot of people that love it though; it's always the most popular thing with the Thanksgiving dessert.
OR give them so much whipped cream that they can’t carry it without the cream toppling over and making a mess.
But then you as the server will have to clean it up.

If a customer spells their name out to me rudely, I spell it wrong just to make myself feel better
Everyone always spells my name wrong so I've gotten used to it.. I'm not a rude customer btw
once had a woman who was incredibly rude to my coworker as she was getting served. my coworker asked the lady for her name, 'josephine' which is how she wrote it on the cup. the woman saw and scoffed at her, saying 'that's not how you spell it, but i wouldn't expect you to know, you're only a barista, you dont have the brain cells to know these things'. my coworker was studying for a masters in english literature (or something similar) at the time. btw, the womans name was spelled 'josefin'.
99% of the time at least in my experience the customer is rude. However one time I called to order a pizza the girl taking the order was just dumb. She asked my name and I started to spell it out for her Bel which she repeated Boe, I repeated a 2nd time once again she repeated Boe. I remained calm (I worked with the general public at the time so then as well as now I'm always nice to customer service employees.) Anyway I slowly repeated Bel for a thrid time, she came back with Boe again; so annoyed I just hung up. I'd like to add this was not a language barrier English was clearly both our 1st language.
It could be a bad phone. I saw some nicest customer representative ever but they got the names wrong from time to time.

When I worked at a grocery store & ppl would throw their money onto the moving conveyer belt instead of my open hand, I'd let the belt eat the money
No, the customers still have to pay, it was their fault that they threw it on the conveyor belt while the cashier is busy scanning/ entering things into the system.
Load More Replies...I have done that to a few customers. I refused to pick it up cos my arm got caught in the belt in another order. Sorry, the belt was hungry :(

Your boss is the real assh0le here for not paying you an honest salary.
I really hope Biden keeps his promise to get rid of the tipped minimum wage, that’s for sure.
Load More Replies...What's tipping? In Australia we just pay the actual price for a good meal, and people actually get paid enough too live on
Enough with feeling like you are owed money for doing your job. America is whack. Form a union and take it up with your boss, not the customer. Create change people.
As a non-american, this type of revenge seems unnecessary and mean. In my country, you would go back and get the bbq sauce and apologise for the delay. I mean this in the nicest way possible, I do not understand the relationship between the american culture and tips. I know it's not exactly compulsory to give tips, yet it's a problem when it isn't given. Why?
American here and agree. But this also plays into service jobs not paying enough and expecting clients to make up the difference. They should be paid a living salary. In San Francisco, there is even a 'health' tax to help pay for their health insurance. This is why I no longer dine in SF.
Load More Replies...So, someone did a pick up order and didn't tip? Didn't know someone would expect tipping for pick ups.
I agree dining out is one thing but picking up is another thing
Load More Replies...it's someone's choice if they want to tip. maybe they were having a tough time with money, but are a big family.

@ADHORTATOR - if you are the type of manager that would threaten to kick your staff members ass, maybe they wouldnt be comfortable transferring the call to you.......jus sayin

As someone who survived a life threatening disease and needed a lot of scans I find this really bad.Have you ever thought about people not being rude but extremely anxious? What you need when you're having scans is compassion, reassurance and support not pettiness...
When pregnant women are rude to me, I usually let it slide--knowing that they'll get all uppity with some older woman, who in turn will not hesitate to put Young Ms. Important Because She's Breeding in her place.
I'm sick and tired of these women thinking they deserve a free pass to act any way they want, to whomever they want, just because they're pregnant.
I don't understand how so many have a problem with this. The "cold" gel is room temperature, not freezing! Doesn't hurt anyone, just a very mild inconvenience. (To me, the gel warmer sounds like unnecessary luxury - have been in many ultrasounds, pregnant and unpregnant, always "cold" gel, no other options.)
Leave them on hold..... for a long time.... and then *accidentally* hung up and turned off my phone for lunch
Wonder where this peron worked, Xerox would fire you for that, or at best give you an HR 'interrogation'
Why are people's comments being downvoted when the comments say they upvoted it? im so confused.
I suspect they are being downvoted for following the suggestion to upvote a deleted comment. Seems a tad pointless and just fills the comment section with boring rubbish.
Load More Replies...rung back, spoke to a supervisor, "accidentally" got them sacked for unprofessional behaviour
I work at checkers/rally's fast food. Rude people come thru all the time. I full their cups up with so much ice so they get barely any soda lol
Used to cut off the ends of mustard packets
Pre-opened then, it's those little details that makes for great service, LMAO.
He cut off the little saw, not opened. even if it IS, it's gonna be sticky. P.S. Why upvote your own comment?
Load More Replies...I used to double charge them so they had to go wait in the customer service line to get a refund
I feel bad for the customer service person who had to deal with them after
When I worked retail I made sure to charge for each and every bag they use. Where as usually I just charge for one or two but never the full amount
Forgive me and my brain, but I don't really understand. the full amount of money? Sorry it's confusing to me. P.S. Sometimes I'm kinda dumb.
Not dumb!! it can be read both ways. Full amount of bags used or full amount as in cost of bags. I think this is implying amount of bags as that seems to fit in better with the example. Please never feel "dumb" because you have to ask a question. We are all unique and all think and process things differently. :)
Load More Replies...Karen got angry because we aren't allowed to hold anything, second she left the store i hid every single item she was after so she wouldn't find it
But she had already left the store? Isn't this just making it inconvenient for other customers? And your fellow employees have to somehow find those things when other people need them,
Knowing Karen, I would say she was going to come back with her "lawyer"/"cop"/"PI"/"Judge"/Unemployed husband and try to threaten the cashier.
Load More Replies...Give 3 ice cubes when they say light ice
Yeah, I was gonna say, "So, you get back at them by giving them what they wanted?"
Load More Replies...How is it rude to ask for light ice? I have severe Raynaud's syndrome so I experience extreme physical pain when I come in contact with cold things. I can't hold iced drinks (yes, I'm one of those people who use straws for medical reasons) & if a drink has too much ice it hurts my lips & mouth. Half the time I'm ignored when I order my drink with no ice, & I'm always ignored when I ask for light ice (I like cold drinks in the summer). It's not rude to not want a glass full of ice. People are allowed to want less ice than normal.
I think I've been missing a trick. Pretty sure in the UK it's "Ice" or "No ice", never realised there was a third option.
Late arrival guest didn't tip when I help them with the luggage I phoned them in the middle of the night and hang up
In American, all 'service' type of jobs do expect tips. Doormen, salons, restaurants, maids, etc.
Load More Replies...What an entitled attitude. No-one deserves a tip; it's an optional gesture of appreciation.
I unscrewed their shampoo bottles and put all their stuff in a really big bag!
This is not inconvenient and costs money to the store when they bring it back to be replaced.
When they leave their cards behind, I throw them away now they have to wait 5-7 business days before they can get a replacement
so... what if they left it behind on accident, and called to come get it after and you'd already thrown it away..?
When i worked at mcdonald's we'd charge karen's and rude customers for extra sides, sometimes $5 worth
I think they are referring to charging for extra items rather than just giving it for free. Some McDonalds I go to gives us Big Mac sauce for free, some charges us. Same with extra toppings.
Load More Replies...Some of these are funny and revenge is sweet, I'm just not very amused if someone is being stressed. When I'm upset or having a really bad day I can sometimes be rude, but when I calm down a little I'll apologize (if I'm still there, say like McDonalds, I'll go back to the cashier to apologize) for my behaviour. Everyone can have a bad day or be very stressed. I would feel really stupid if I did something mean to a customer in secret, only to have the customer apologize later.
I think this article is somewhat harmful. Its one thing to be petty in your personal life but i dont think i want to celebrate people purposely do ing a crap job because someone was was a bit rude. Lower yourself to their level...does that make you a better person? I like the " act super fake nice so they cant complain" thats the only one i would do.
I had these two annoying regulars while working at a poolside cafe. They were loud, rude and never obeyed our rules ... like not putting drinks on the edge of the pool table, not smoking at the table (that was almost 30 years ago) etc. So I was always polite to them ... but no more. When they were back, other regular customers came, whom I greeted warmly, we made short small talk, exchanged compliments and I smiled warmly the whole time. When the "annoying guests" paid, they said I would never get a tip from them because I was never so nice to them. I just put on my "customer smile" and said: This is how I treat guests who I like because they are always nice ... as opposed to both of you!
There is no end to rude people. I know, I used to work with the public. I didn't do anything except get slow and if necessary.......slower.
There's this one candle store I'd really like to work at, and it being a candle store, it tends to attract a LOT of karens. I'm going to get to know all the employees there, and when I leave/quit, I'm going to put up my number in the back room for the newer/younger employees to call me if a karen comes in there and starts screaming at them if they can't do something. I don't care WHERE I am, WHAT I'm doing, I will drop it if someone calls me and asks for help with a karen. I could pose as a customer or a manager "on break", and depending on the situation, either be really extremely calm with them if it seems they've had a bad day and give them (really quickly expiring) $5 coupons (bc it's an expensive candle store and $5 don't do anything lmao), or I'll just yell at them and/or take the blow for the employees. No one working ANYWHERE deserves to be yelled at by a karen. I'm pretty good at calming karens down, since 3 of my parents ARE karens and I have experience with it.
